Oh No, Not Rolf Harris Too! (sex crimes)

BBC Is reporting the arrest of Rolf Harris as part of a followup to the Jimmy Savile stuff. I am disappoint.

An unexpected development, although please to note that Rolf has been questioned twice but not charged.

Some of the people swept up in the Yewtree investigation surprised me not at all: Jim Davidson, Freddie Starr, Gary Glitter. But Rolf? Good Lord. Next they’ll be arresting Chris Tarrant for diddling Spit the Dog.

Tie me kangaroo down, sport, indeed…

The worst part will be the “Two Little Boys” jokes.

Wait…Gary Glitter? Is this about child pr0n?

The BBC is amazingly circumspect. American news sources would be shouting “KIDDIE PR0N! MOLESTATION! PEDOPHILES!” from the rooftops.

Not to mention “let me Abos go loose”.

This thread title was pretty much the same as my Facebook status today. Not Rolf!

That’s because he’s about the thirtieth 70s celebrity who’s recently been accused (I don’t think underage sex is the accusation in this one). Not all have since been charged. They’ve done all the kiddie porn headlines already.

Whoa, tie me …

Oops, too slow. OK, let me A …

Damn it!

Click go the shears, boys! He sang as he talked to that jumbuck in his tucker bag!

OK, those don’t really make sense. :frowning: I’ve got nothing.

Now the fascinating witches who put the scintillating stitches in the britches of the boys who put the powder on the noses of the faces of the ladies of the harem of the court of King Caractacus , , ,

I found footage of him being taken into custody.

What exactly did you imagine was the nature of the “extra leg” possessed by Jake the Peg?

So there wasn’t another prominent 82-year-old male Australian entertainer living in Berkshire?

Can you see what it is yet?

Can one be arrested and released on bail without being charged with anything, in the UK?

Yes, absolutely. There are two type of bail: pre-charge which allows the police time to investigate, and post-charge, which allows the accused to avoid custody time whilst waiting for their court date. Pre-charge bail means that he’ll have a date to retun to the police, on which they’ll charge him, advise no action will be taken or bail him again. I looks like the last if those 3 options has happened before, since he seems to have been picked up originally some months ago.

My hope in this case is that their investigations turn up nothing. Genuinely nothing, of course - if he has a case to answer, I wish him charged and prosecuted. But still, damn … It’s Rolf, man. Not Rolf!

His name was rumoured a while ago, and at that point my friend pointed out that he fronted an anti-abuse, anti-bullying campaign for schools a while ago, and how extra awful that would make his involvement. I really really hope he’s not done anything.

Apparently he had a show on Channel 5. I hadn’t seen him on telly in 20 years but loved that show he did where he drew Bugs Bunny etc. I really hope he’s not been kiddie fiddling. I’m beginning to wonder how any child in Britain got through the 1970s without being molested.

Yeah, some animal clinic thing, apparently. Plus he’s narrating a cartoon called Olive the Ostrich.

Yeah, that’s my memory of Rolf Harris. Making rubbish drawings of Looney Tunes characters on that show on BBC 2. And the PIF about learning to swim. I hope it isn’t true. I never got that creepy vibe from Rolf like I did from Saville.

I remember that song! I liked it. :frowning:
