Oh NOEZ!!!1!!1! Obama to Give Socialist Indoctrination Talk to School Children!!!

This should actually be good for the teachers, because they’ll be able to tell which of their kids have moonbat parents by noting which kids are pulled out of school that day.

So when it comes time to talk about sensitive topics like the earth not being 7 months old or dinosaurs not wearing saddles, teacher can send those kids outside to smack the chalkboard erasers together.

I’ve been living in the Jacksonville, FL area for a little over a year now, and I really wish I could say that Mr. Greer’s comments actually surprised me. The state of Georgia should annex Florida all the way down to about West Plam Beach. Florida —North Florida, anyway— is one of the most Bible-bangin’, über-conservative, right wing places I’ve ever lived…and I’m originally from Texas (and spent 5 years in South Carolina).

Here in Jax, I expect my son and about 12 other kids to actually be in school that day. It’ll be a tough day of learning as most of the teachers will be absent, too.

Will there be alternative programming on PAX? Perhaps Pat Robertson can give an address to young people about how they should buy his infinite life milkshakes.

Wait, seriously? There are that many people who are actually going along with this? Oh, humanity, you never fail to disappoint me. :frowning:

This is a serious question, because I honestly don’t remember. Was there ever a speech or event involving Bush speaking to children in which elected officials accused him of attempting to brainwash children?

My original statement was a bit of hyperbole for impact, I’m afraid. Seriously, I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised if 25%—40% of the students were kept home. A little afraid, but not surprised.

No, he’d have to be smarter than they were.

Now that scared me to the point of goosebumps!

ahem

Oh good Christ. Fuck, this depresses me to no end. What the hell happened to my country?

This story has been a bit of a tipping point for me. I have some wingnut friends on Facebook, and because they’re actual friends I’ve put up with a lot of right-wing jackassery from them. But when they started talking about making sure they could opt their kids out of Obama’s presentation, I had to block them before I went ballistic.

They’re such patriots that they would rather keep their kids out of school than let the country’s duly elected leader offer a few words about how important it is to study hard and stay in school. Fuck 'em. I’m through trying to understand.

I don’t care if you get out in the street and teabag 'till you’re sore. I don’t care if you go to town halls and make a giant ass of yourself. But leave your fucking kids out of it.

The comment section on the story about it in my local paper (always a hotbed of head-slapping idiocy) had several commenters making Michael Jackson allusions, asking just what Obama wanted with the nation’s children, heh heh heh. Jesus Tapdancing Christ, I’m starting to think the terrorists have a goddamn point.

Dennis Miller radio show. Now I don’t want to get off on a rant here, so I wont … but he had a guy in covering for him today – didn’t catch the guy’s name (I switched off the station after about 2 minutes of what follows).

The guy was making an eloquent little speech about how he wants his children remain innocent; he doesn’t want them to be, at 10 years old, in a position of arguing politics with other 10 year olds who are only proxies for their parents. Good points indeed. This point was followed immediately with, “And that’s why I’ll be keeping them out of school that day so Obama can’t indoctrinate them.” That isn’t a direct quote, but I know he used the term “indoctrinate.”

How can these people even say this shit with a straight face? I’m literally aghast at this particular round of idiocy.

It’s the president of our nation addressing our nation’s school children. Just like pretty much every president we’ve had since the advent of recordable video has done.

This latest hulabaloo of right-wing manufactured outrage borders on the absurd, if not crosses right into downtown Batshit Motherfucking Crazy.

Stupid got louder.

Stupid got its own network.

So, the answer to my original question was no, there was never a speech or event that involved Bush speaking to schoolchildren that elected officials went ballistic over?

Well there was the *My Pet Goat *incident in which Bush was brainwashed by a group of young children, and while they had him under their spell, the socialists blew up New York.

Too much god.

George Bush gave a speech once, during school hours, although not a direct appeal like this, that asked school kids to give one doallr to needy kids in Afghanistan.

George Sr. once gave a national television address to kids to tell them to not use drugs. And he held a teleconference with kids to talk about space.

Stupid goes to 12.

And were these events accompanied by the loud screeching and condemnation of elected officials? I’m being serious, I honestly don’t know.
