We recent’y had an e-mail about our work network and a system which flags certain aspects of web use (such as profanity in message boards) and reports it to someone.
Well I’ve been using the SDMB on the work network for three years with people telling me it’s ok because I’m not streaming/looking at porn/dodgy websites. Now I find out all my internet use is potentially being pored over by certain people.
Now… one of those people (call him x) is friendly with a certian other person (y)… a little too friendly for my peace of mind. This is a recent discovery.
That person y is someone who I’ve created a huge running thread about lately.
My thought of the day was “Oh shit! has person x read my long thread about person y??!”

Maybe she’ll like it. Then again, it could freak her right out.

Well, not the thread so much as the content of the thread. I mean, if they’re going to find out, you might as well control the setting.
You might want to go with that. I’m at the point that, were I in a similar situation, I would.
I don’t think you need to tell X anything. I kind of like the idea of telling Y. Or you could just ask her out (perhaps you’ve heard this somewhere before…? :))and then, if X brings it up, it’ll be old news.

Bright side, you can be tracked to The Dope, but I don’t think they can figure out that the most amusing posts are made by this Lobsang character. And even if they did, I think they’d have to buy a membership to search your posts.
So if everyoine will just cooperate and let those potentially humiliating threads pass into the nether pages you should be alright.
Besides, does dude have any reason to check out YOUR activities over those of some other body?
I’m quite drunk know so I can’t begin to formulate my thoughts properly in this thread. But I’ll try.
The friendship with me and y is coming along nicely (despite the stupid text message I sent to her…which she chose to pretend never happened) Some might call this a cop-out - but for know I am happy to let this friendship develop. I haven’t had many female friends in my life and I think I’m discovering how rewarding it is to have a friend who is female, compared to male friends.
