Oh, Sweet Nothing - MMP

Li-Li! send me some of that yummy sounding stir fry - my cd drive is waiting!

I can’t even try to pretend to catch up on all this…

Ok, report from the head doctor:

I walked out. When I make an appointment to see a doctor at 1:30, get there and have my insurance papers done by 1:20 and wait til 2:25 when I have to get up and ask WTF???, THEN be told that oh my, they misplaced my folder so it wasn’t in the ‘call your name next’ rack here, and can I hang on just a few minutes, when I’ve seen 4-5 people come and go in the time I’ve been sitting there - THAT is when I leave.

From the car, I did what I should have in the first place - called trusty Dr. Beth, my GP, who will see me first thing in the morning and promised to have me in a neurologist’s office no later than tomorrow afternoon once she sees me. She even came on the phone herself to properly express her ‘tsk-tsks’ at the goofball office this afternoon, and to assure me she’ll take good care of me.

The pain is only moderate compared to blazing even last night and I feel pretty clear headed - didn’t lose the car once today. I do notice that later in the day, it hurts more than early, I dunno - fatigue?

I’m getting some workish work done here tonight, answering the door to greet mr Pizza Delivery Guy in a bit, then will once more down a couple of the Percowhatevers and zone for the night.

OK, rigs, you made me laugh out loud with your original transportation idea for Nava. Hee, hee. Hee.

For those who asked about the MBG saga: It starts in post 323 of last week’s MMP. Next big update is in post 353. And on preview I see we have the latest report. That experience at the neurologist’s office sounds rotten, but I imagine it’s a good sign that there’s less hurt and you feel clearer. Seems normal that things get worse when you’re tired. But I have absolutely no medical qualifications for any of this. Glad you’ll see your own doc tomorrow.

My Theory of Moms[sup]TM[/sup] is that there are two types: 1) those who are amazingly adept at pressing daughters’ buttons at every opportunity and 2) those who really try not to. I can’t figure out if most moms fall into group 1 or if there’s just an increased tendency of daughters of group 1 to be friends. All but one of my very close friends has a group 1 mom and it’s definitely something we bonded over.

Catching up on yesterday (and today): Wow! All the workplace crime. I’d be tempted to do the Nancy Drew thing, too, Drae. And the cops at home on the weekend sounds like not much fun, Sean.

Wow, both of our firefighters are really impressive! I would never have the strength or stamina to be able to do something like that.

All this talk of food (the chocolate sounds yummy, LiLi) is making me hungry, even though I’ve already had dinner (one green chile and cheese tamal, some green beans, and chocolate pudding).

Long day again today. No chance of a day off this week, I’m afraid. Maybe one day next week. Tired.

Oh, your story reminds me of a story.

I went with my daughter (who was quite young) to the pediatrician because I thought she had an ear infection. We could only get a late afternoon appointment. I did not take my watch with me and this was before cell phones.

We were ushered into the exam room. I played with her and sang to her and read to her etc. I could hear doors being shut and people talking, and kept saying to myself, we’re sure to be next. It seemed like a long time, but I really couldn’t tell. Daughter was ok and not too cranky.

Then I heard a vaccumm cleaner. I thought WTF? And finally opened the door and peered out. The cleaning service was there! The staff hadn’t flagged my exam room’s door, so they thought it was empty. One of the docs was still in the office, leaving late for whatever reason. She was pissed that I was still there. And my daughter DID have an ear infection.

I was so glad when that particular doc left the practice–I never went back to her (she was horrible with kids and went to work ER). So, I feel your pain, MBG.

(underlined since you can’t italicize italics)
 At you or at her staff? If at you, I’d have found another doc ASAP!

I hate to be the omen of a difficult trip, but it’s pretty rare for any car rental shop to accept a debit card. If he’s lucky, he’ll be able to talk them into taking a $500 hold on your checking account, and you won’t get it back for about two weeks after the car is returned.

All this talk of fire-fighting makes me realize that I need to obtain a halligan, so when we have fire drills in our building, I can stick my head into offices and conference rooms, point my halligan at them (Swampy, stop that snerking!) and tell them to get out. Middle-managers always seem to treat fire drills as nothing more than a lot of noise that interrupts their conference calls. A few months ago, the alarm went off unplanned, (turned out to be a malfunction) and I was blunt with them - “This isn’t a drill. GET OUT!”

Yay for Rigs! You go girl!

MBG, I hope the second neurologist is better. Sheesh! I would have walked too!

Alright folks, we really would appreciate your good thoughts and wishes. We received some really bad news from MIL this evening. It has been confirmed that the white spots they found in her lungs when they did the lung surgery are, in fact, cancer. Worse, the doctor fears it is all through her bloodstream. Finally, because of this, they are NOT going to do the masectomy on her breast. WTF? It’s like they’ve given up. She has another appointment on Thursday to see what, if any, treatment options they are going to pursue.

Mr. Taters is not doing well. I, frankly, am numb, and somewhat sick to my stomach.

So, sorry to be a downer…again. I would love to come in here with some awsomely good news, just for once. It’s been a long stretch of bad news for me these past few months.

Well, I think I’m going cruise the Dope for awhile and then maybe go to bed. I dunno, I’m not tired, just down.

I went to the mall and returned stuff tonight. Since the only thing I brought back out was a pretzel, I think I came out ahead. However, I just had to go to Lane Bryant while I was there. I saw ugly, oh, did I see ugly. Who raided my mom’s closet and why did they think that was a good idea? I saw a dress that made me stop and go, whoa! What the hell is THAT? And then I saw IT. It was the trifecta, nay, the Holy Grail of Ugly for Fat Chicks. It was shiny polyester, in RED and BLACK camo, with seams in strange places and gathered  sleeves, a garment perfectly designed to show off your back fat, stick and gap and sag in all the wrong places. Behold, the herringbone charmeuse wrap tunic and despair! There will be no cute clothes this winter! The picture absolutely does not do it justice, it must be seen in living color. I think they darkened the picture a lot, actually, and it sure looked like camo in the store. The only reason I go to Lane Bryant is for their Houston slacks. They never have them in black, but I keep hoping.

FCM, do you have AAA? I think Hertz treats your debit card as a credit card if you have AAA.

Taters, I’m so sorry.

((((Tatersfamily))))

Taters, I’m sorry to hear the news about your MIL. :frowning: Cancer sucks. I hope you get some better news on Thursday.

Big hugs to you, Taters, and your family…sounds like Ophie’s going to have a busy week pedalling again.

MGB - has your brain stopped fizzing yet?

I have a busy day today, got a pile of ID cards and registrations to sort out before our Banner system goes off this afternoon for a week. All that, and people are still telling me their job is the most urgent one and they need it done before anyone else gets a look in.

Sometimes you just want to suggest to folks that something as simple as four entries in a database is something they could stoop to doing themselves without giving me grief about it…

I hate it when folks decide they’re too important for a simple job.

Having previously mentioned that I had my talk with George Mac about his hands run amok, I wound up taking him a bucket of apples last night because I felt like a jerk for putting him in the middle. All is well…

{{{Taters, TatersHubby and TatersMIL}}} Prayers and good thoughts are headed out from south Jawja.

FCM sorry about the credit card theft. Does FCD have any of those car rental things like Emerald Isle (National) or one of the others? Sometimes car rental places are nice and will do stuff if you are a “club member.”

Drae and Sean sorry about the work theft stuff. Dang, it’s been a week for thefts and accidents up in here! Sean perhaps you can take consolation in the fact(otum), HAR! I crack me up!, that the police were being thorough in their investigation.

Speaking of thievery, somebody actually did take some of those damn Easter eggs we had stacked up outside. What I want to know is, well two things, first, why would anybody want 'em and second, why didn’t they take all of 'em. Untrustworthy thieves! Can’t even trust 'em to steal stuff left out in the open anymore!

Jah that one picture where it said click on item to enlarge? My first thought was, “Hell No! I don’t wanna see that ugly thing any bigger!”

Bobbio and Bibkitty let me add my thanks to both of you for being volunteer firefighters. Being as I live in a rural area, I have a deep appreciation for volunteer firefighters.

The accreditation folks will be gone this afternoon!!! YAAAAAAAY!!!

<snerk> You can point your halligan at me anytime big boy.

Taters, I’m so sorry about the MIL, you’re all in my thoughts. Such as they are these days, kind of disjointed and all…

Ok now, I came in early because I’m busy and have things to do, so the rest of you pipe down, people are working here!
