I know this is probably the wrong place to ask, but there’s an awful lot of cooking talk around here so tell me, what can I do that’s really exciting and involves sweet potatoes (but not meat/poultry)?
Having been ill for ages, I’ve been eating either nothing at all or 'im indoors has been feeding me pizza and other sinful delights, and then I realised yesterday that I should really have cancelled my veg box for this week. So I forgot. So now I’ve got heaps of veg in the house, and a large quantity of sweet potatoes…but what can I do with them that’s more interesting than mash?
Ooooh, sweet potatoes. Peel them, dice them kinda small, toss with some olive oil in a baking pan, sprinkle on salt and pepper and some rosemary. Bake at, oh, around 350-400 (degrees F) for an hour-ish or until they’re starting to get just a little crispy/carmelized on the outside. Soooooo good. Thyme works well too in place of rosemary. But I’ve got a rosemary bush growing in my apt so that’s usually what we use.

That looks like a great bit of pie, Swampy but the ingredients could cause me some bother! It says dark corn syrup - can I use golden syrup or black treacle instead? Ooooh…black treacle…I can feel my arteries clogging already! Also, what’s maple flavouring? Is it the same as maple syrup?
I’d use golden syrup, not treacle.

Treacle is molasses, right? Molasses might work, but I think it’d change the end product too much.

We won’t really know more about treatment options until tomorrow, I guess. I’m not sure if it’s one cancer or two. I’m inclined to think two, since cancer was found in her lungs and, her remaining breast of course.
I’ll be leaving shortly to drop off my rig. I really, really hope it’s something fairly minor and covered by warranty.
I didn’t sleep for shit last night. I slept a couple of hours this morning, but it was restless and filled with odd dreams.
Thanks for the good wishes for my sister, Taters. It’s so frustrating having to stand by and watch someone go through medical stuff and not be able to do anything, isn’t it? Every time I think I’ve finally gotten to where I’m dealing okay with it, she develops a new problem, and it starts all over again. And in between new problems, of course, there’s bad reactions from the various medications she has to take mixing and interfering with each other. And we had to watch our dad go through the same long, slow downhill slide, so we all know what’s coming, which makes it even worse. Argh.
Anyway, here’s hoping that it’s just one cancer in your MIL that’s metastasized so that one treatment can work for everything!

It’s an…interesting board. It reminds me of when I used to spend holidays with the family. I find it fascinating that people still hate the Clintons with such enthusiasm. When I don’t care for someone, I don’t think about them when they’re gone. Really, why bother? Well, there was that one boss that a co-worker and I celebrated her leaving for five years, long after *all * of us had left the company, but that was personal.
