Saw Troy last night. (If someone will bump the thread, I’ll read it and perhaps post.) Overall my reaction was that I was moderately entertained for 2 hours and 40 minutes, and could have been just as entertained for two hours flat, but hey, beefcake’s okay with me. Brad Pitt – nice ass! Eric Bana – yum yum! Orlando Bloom – I see why my 25-year-old former underling has a thing for him!
The revelation, though was Sean Bean – a name I’d heard, but an actor whose work I was unfamiliar with – apparently he was in some series of flicks about critters of some sort? – and who is my latest poster boy. Ah, the wily Odysseus indeed. Give me a man with a few miles on him, whose eyes reflect a little life experience.
Try to catch SB in Goldeneye, too, where he very convincingly plays an elegant bad guy. Now there’s a film with two hotties - Pierce Brosnan and Sean Bean. Yum yum!
nah, mr ford was married to melissa during patriot games.
i’m baffled by the harrison/callista pairing. i am reminded of an old catch phrase of my mum’s: “perhaps there are good qualities that only the other sees.”
This movie from last year went almost completely unnoticed. Sean Bean had a wonderful role in it. It’s a really great movie, try to see it if you get the chance!
I agree, he was the best thing about Troy. I’d love to see someone (Peter Jackson!) make The Odyssey with Sean.
You have to watch The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring! He doesn’t come in until halfway through the film (but don’t fast forward!) and plays one of the most interesting characters, Boromir. He has more scenes in the Extended edition of Fellowship and the Extended edition of The Two Towers.
Oooooo Sean Bean! I’ve adored him for years. First saw him in Stormy Monday with Tommy Lee Jones and Melanie Griffth (of all people). He plays Strong yet Senstive[sup]TM[/sup] very well. He has had a solid career playing second fiddles and carracter parts (bad guys). He needs to get some big budget leading man roles so the rest of the world can gaze longingly into those eyes.
I’m coming late to this, but I’ve seen it, and it’s definitely worth watching. I really liked his portrayal of Mellors. And if you’re even remotely interested Sean Bean full-frontal nudity and shots of him romping naked through forests and meadows, it should be at the top of your list.
