WIC looks to be a pretty good site IMHO

And Sean Bean continues down that ol’ typecasting road.

Hm? Oh, for sword and cape type stuff. I thought you were talking about “bad-guy” stuff and wondered what you meant, since Ned is probably the “goodest” adult character in the whole series.

How much longer shall we wait ?

Yeah, just the whole Fantasy Warrior thing. Granted, he has the perfect look for it.

Mmm, Sean Bean with a sword and a cape is just fine with me.

I hadn’t heard the rumor about Gillian Anderson, that would be cool, too.

To quote my reaction when i read the selfsame rumour on another website not 5 minutes ago.

“SWEET!”

also for the record i would like to add “Whoot!”

I agree with jayjay. Ned Stark is about as naively lawful stupid as you’re going to get in that series. Bean’s always playing the untrustworthy backstabber. Not to say he couldn’t play Ned - if you’ve seen the extended version of LOTR you’ve seen him in full-on hero mode after the retaking of Osgiliath.

Poor bastard’s still gonna die, of course, but he’ll do it like a sappy hero with his poor kids looking on.

Heh…“lawful stupid”. That faded out of my vocabulary a long time ago. I think I need to put it back in again…

Eh? He’s the heroic protagonist of Sharpe, the randy gardener in Lady Chatterley’s Lover, a villain motivated by revenge in Patriot Games, the flawed Boromir in LOTR, and many more. The only untrustworthy backstabbing role I can recall is in that James Bond movie.

I can never decide if I want to pronounce that guy’s name like Shawn Bawn or Seen Bean.

Not a great casting, but OK IMO. He’ll look good in the role, which is a big part of it, but he’s too one dimensional for Ned. Ned has a cerebral, phlegmatic side that will get lost in Bean’s doughty warrior performance. Think Bean would be better as Robert, although he’s maybe not physically big enough.

Better the one Mr Bean than the other Mr Bean.

Now confirmed. Plus other casting news in that article.

I believe the correct pronunciation is Shawn Bawn. No, I really believe that. Really

Heh. I could so see Edmund Blackadder as Petyr. If he was younger at least.

Whenever I saw this thread I immediately thought of the other one. I kept going
I guess I don’t know Sean’s work, so I don’t recognize his name.

Mark Addy is certainly an interesting choice for Robert. I like the actor, so I think I like the news…

Ooh…that could work well. Robert’s supposed to be a husky type of guy, from my mental picture of him, and Addy’s body type is about right. And Addy’s not a bad actor, actually, so I don’t have any reservations about it.

I wonder if they’re going to do some Robert-In-His-Fighting-Prime flashbacks, and if they do I hope Addy doesn’t look silly.
