I’m a big fan of hip-hop, rap, etc.
I love to dance so I got to love it!
But I absolutely HATE C&W. LeeAnn Rimes, Garth Brooks and their ilk can all suck my ass.

My husband, the bass player, abhors rap music. I don’t like most of it mostly cause I can’t relate to it. I do like Will Smith and the like but he’s pretty light. I don’t enjoy rap/metal groups like Rage Against the Machine (but don’t mind Limp Bizkit-go figure).
I think Rap is a valid musical expression when people put the effort into it (live musicians, creative melodies, thoughtful lyrics). But, then again, this applies to any type of music.
Only some Rap music provides social commentary. Ignore the Puffy Combs of the music world. He cant take anything original at all.
Listen to Public Enemy’s 1989 album “It takes a Nation of Millions to hold us back”
probably the most educational Rap record ever made.
I listen to a lot of different music, and think that there are bad acts in every genre.

Who are these people who are forced to listen to music they don’t like? How often are you a captive audience, when you have no control over what you are hearing?
Shut it off, and shut your mouth.
Who am I to say that something I do not like is invalid? It’s like saying Police Academy isn’t a movie because I don’t like stupid comedies, or that The Shining isn’t a book because I don’t like horror novels.
Just knock it off. (I’m a little grumpy today. Maybe I’ll go to the Pit.)
I know how you feel reservoir I had one of those days when I type this original post…
but…
Police Academy is not on everytime I turn on a movie channel and The Shining is not on every bookshelf in every library I ever go in.
You probably just need your blankie too.
“I think it speaks to the duality of man sir.”

I’m not a fan but there is good rap and hip hop. Unfortunately a lot of it is bad as with most music.
I must have bumped the tuning dial on my alarm clock radio Monday night because Tuesday I woke up to a hip hop station playing the “get your ass up 5:30 set.” It was an extremely disorienting experience and the songs were some of the worst I ever heard.
Can anyone prove rap takes talent?
Wait a minute…
a lot of rock singers have no talent.
forgive me.
The most Invisible poster in the history of the boards. Posting invisibly since sept 1999.
You’re forgiven.
Who says it takes talent to get a record made.
Case in point: Hanson
Yeah, and don’t get me started about those Beatles… Goddamn liverpudlian no-talent wankers!
For once you must try to face the facts: Mankind is kept alive by bestial acts.
What’s all this about insightful social commentary? I don’t listen to the crap, so maybe someone could quote me a few specific examples?
