Bill O’Neill, an Ohio Supreme Court Justice who is seeking the Democratic nomination for Governor, decided it would be a good idea to speak up “on behalf of all heterosexual males” and declare that the voters shouldn’t care about “sexual indiscretions” that happened decades ago. Then to establish his own personal credentials, he declared he’s had sex with fifty attractive women over the course of his lifetime and described the details of several of these relationships. When he received some criticism for his views, he responded by telling people to “lighten up”.

Maybe he’s chasing the “men who are tired of uppity women” demo.
He also called the Cleveland Browns draft-dodgers after some of them kneeled during the national anthem. He was not a top-tier candidate. It’s a total fluke that he’s even on the Supreme Court.
Well, it *is *Ohio we’re talking about. The centrist wing of the state D party would be considered the hard right in much of Europe.
Are any of them old enough to even know what a “draft-dodger” was?
It’s what John Elway and Eli Manning did, right?
I think we should up the ante- how great would it be if someone said to him (in a public venue)- “Pics or it didn’t happen”
I know who I’ll be rooting for in the primary.
That’s pretty much my philosophy, accepting said sexual indiscretions weren’t illegal: we make mistakes with women and we learn. What else can you do in life.
Are you saying the national mood has changed in the last year? Remember Donald Trump and “grab her by pussy”.
You try to avoid O’Neill’s mistake; implicitly bundling consensual and nonconsensual sexual incidents, and implying that none of them are matters of legitimate public interest.
I think it’s pretty obvious the national mood has changed in the last year.
Aside from the spectacular irrelevance of what “much of Europe” thinks in deciding what constitutes leftist and rightist views in the U.S., this characterization of the Democratic Party in Ohio is grotesquely inaccurate. O’Neill (who previously came under fire for the dodgy ethical position of running for governor while being on the state Supreme Court), hardly qualifies as “hard right” anywhere in the developed world.
“On Sunday, O’Neill announced he would run for governor as a Democrat. During his speech, O’Neill promised to legalize marijuana, raise the minimum wage and improve access to mental health care.”
The guy’s private life may have a Trumpian vibe, but his political positions are a wee bit different.
If such episodes are with consenting adults, pretty much.
With Moore, e.g., not adults. So we should care.
