What was the name of the town, though? I do remember someone brought a case against there being a cross on the seal of Las Cruces, NM. (Of course, said individual apparently was unaware that “Las Cruces” translates to “The Crosses”, so the whole thing was kinda stupid.) Is that the one you’re thinking of?

I remember that case, and I think the court ruled correctly. Incorporating the family crest of the person the town was named after is definitely historical in origin.

From the first case in that link:

How the court ruled in the second case mentioned. Basically, they didn’t buy the “historical/non-religious” reasoning put forth by the defendants.

I was making a joke by riffing off of something he said. And I’m pretty sure that he would tell you that he understood it to be a joke. If I’m misreading and you mean that I was directing that remark at anybody else… I have no idea who you think I’d be referencing, other than an ever so droll throwaway line about 'revelatory ’ information and "that’s what They want you to think.

Heck Marley, we don’t even have any folks in the thread who that could be a parody of. I mean, closest I could think is a Dope who hasn’t visited this thread but who’s posted about 9/11 and the Mossad, etc. The closest we come, IIRC, is Spoke’s argument in an old thread as to why he felt that Hollywood was run by a Jewish cabal which harmed gentiles for the benefit of Jews and that Hollywood should be sued on a fishing expedition, just to check 'em out. But that’s not close enough for parody by that joke.

Allegedly, it is intended as a war memorial, in part to honour the specific Ohio vets who liberated the camps.

Also, there are Holocaust survivors in Ohio. I know two in Cincinnati, myself.

Well, I’m just a simple country lawyer, but yes, you’re right, there are laws. And what I am saying is that these numbers suggest that the industry is ripe for litigation.

Employment discrimination is subtle and difficult to prove, but one method of proving it is with statistical evidence. And those statistics look overwhelming. Todderbob is quite right that you’d need to know more particulars about hiring practices in the industry and circumstances in particular cases. That’s what depositions are for. If I were a disappointed but well-qualified jobseeker (or an attorney who represented one), I’d seriously think about pursuing a claim.
