Most gynos don’t seem to do that routinely. Of all the docs I’ve seen over the years (I’ve got a decade+ on you) it’s only happened twice.
Re the OP: yeah, they aren’t fun. Neither are the girly-bits ones. And doctors can vary in their techique. I had one girl-check where my abdominal muscles were store for several days, to the point that standing up (or sitting from a standing position) was catch-your-breath painful.
I saw a different doctor after that, told her about that, and she was actually shocked and assured me she was not that aggressive.
