OJ Simpson guilty on all charges.

Does any other language have a similar word or is it only those wacky Germans?

What saddens me about this whole mess is that the fantastic talent of OJ the running back is not how he will be remembered. I remember him setting all sorts of records when I was a kid, he was fantastic.

And now he’s hit bottom.

Such a waste of incredible talent.

See that, victims of domestic abuse? The system works!

Well, in English, if you use a sing-song-y voice, you could say:
“Na na na na na na!”

It just doesn’t have the panache of the word Schadenfreude.

English has a perfectly good word for it. Schadenfreude.

What? It’s ours. We stole it good and proper.

Today’s the day for OJ.

OJ will probably get the “Standard” sentence, however long that is. This won’t prevent accusations of arbitrary and capricious sentencing (nothing ever prevents that) but it can be stated that OJ got what most everybody else gets in the same situation.

Sadly, neither does ‘neener neener neener’.

How about Nelson Muntz’s “Ha Ha!”

Finnish has “vahingonilo”, literally “glee over misfortune”.

Maybe I should ask this in GQ, but it’s a small, related question and probably has a quick answer.

Are there any legal ramifications if OJ were to confess to killing his ex-wife and her friend? He’s been found not guilty in a court of law, and he can’t be tried again. What would the consequences be?

Bizzarre. OJ says he didn’t mean to hurt anyone and he didn’t know what he did was illegal. Serious, he said that. Then his lawyer says he is remorseful.

this is s stupid stupid man, folks. After getting away with murder he pulls this? If it were me I’d never so much as run a light for the rest of my life. well, if he gets the max at sentencing, OJ won’t be doing that anyway.

15 years.

Swedish: Skadeglädje.

Internet: Lulz.

English: Schadenfreude.

What? We stole it good and proper.

It’s a perfect bookend with hubris.
