And the bright beautiful 16-bit colors…
Saturday Night Slam Masters- An excellent port of a somewhat obscure Capcom game. My friend and I had hours of fun with this game. The thing I loved about this game was that if you were good at rapid button mashing, you could totally destroy the other player (the computer was another story. I was good enough at mash-age that my friend and I could start the match, and I trip him, pin, then mash, mash mash to victory. He got really pissed when I was consistently defeating him 5 seconds into the match
Rock 'n Roll Racing: Another very addictive game. Multiplayer was the best part of it. Some evenings when we’d start to get bored we’d do stunt sessions- trying to blow each other up in midair during jumps, senseless ramming each other into the corner, and trying to find secrets/bugs in the game. We found out that in the second track, there was a gap you could jump which bypassed HALF the track- too bad the game didn’t register that shortcut when it came to laps
Contra III- Probably one of the most cooperation-intensive multiplayer games out there. During vertical scrolling areas, if one guy moved up/jumped, and the other guy was too low, the screen would scroll up and the low guy would die. This created really funny moments like, “Whatever you do, don’t jump…don’t dont I SAID DONT JUMP awwww dammit that was my last life!”
Lots of high school memories of Donkey Kong Country and Super Punch-out. I still remember when I finally beat Nick Bruiser (last Super Punch-out guy), I was so thrilled I literally held my middle finger against the TV screen over his fallen body.
Rock n’ Roll Racing is easily one of the greatest games ever made, and the lovely LaurAnge bought it for me for my birthday a couple of months ago from ebay. She gets love forever.
Other fun games include EA’s NHL and NBA Live games, the FF series, Street Fighter II, Sim City, Donkey Kong Country, and WWF Royal Rumble.
Kirby super star, contra, EVO, Gradius 3,super metroid, smash tv…
I’ve been replaying Earthbound, one of the kookiest and most fun RPGs ever released. The Mr. Saturns are one of my favorite group of supporting characters ever in a video game. Boing!
I’m currently working on Final Fantasy VI. It’s rocking my world rather hard, very fun. I’m just past the part where you battle the Espers in the Magitek Factory. How much longer is there? This game is HUGE!
