Ok, I give up: What is with the denim obsession?

I’ve been wearing jeans since I was 10 years old. That’s 60 years worth of jeans and if I had had my way, I would have worn them all day every day. When I was working, I usually wore suits to work but I changed into jeans the moment I got home. I used to wear nothing but Levies but for the last few years, I’ve switched to Lees. At the moment, I’m wearing jeans shorts. If I could find denim underwear, I’d buy some.

Stretch Jeans… No No No. In fact any jeans worn after 8pm, except at Raves is definitely not on. I’m going to treat my lady to one of these dresses… probably the Hermionie one at the bottom… quality!

You mean like the govenor of Oregon, here shown in his official uniform. He’s the guy in the jeans, and yes he is almost always wearing jeans and boots. This photo is from his first term.

Of course not. After 8:00 p.m. everyone should be getting ready for bed. Take off your jeans and put on your nightwear. It will be dark soon.

The best thing about jeans is that they are far more cost effective than slacks. You can go into Costco or Wal-Mart and easily find $10 men’s jeans. They certainly won’t be the most fashionable, but they will be comfortable, fit well, and need little more than the occasional washing. You’ll really have to hunt to find $10 slacks, and they will fit poorly. Plus unless you are good at ironing they usually look dingier than newly washed jeans.

Denim is also great for zombies. The durable weave of the fabric is great for someone who shambles around aimlessly and who may not take the best care of themselves.

Blimey! Someone who goes to bed really early like me?!! Are you a milkman? A Farmer? I usually go to bed about 10pm.. but 8pm..phew!

Ok, let’s get the gloves off now…

The denim I really realy hate… is designer distressed cut down jeans that you see plonkers parading on the beach… Oh my look how designer distressed I am, andlook at my white knobbly knees!

I have to say they don’t look at all bad on the ladies…

But while I was holidaying in the SouthWest of England Woolacoombe if you must know!) among all the bathing costumes and cut down denims and surfer-ware, was a lady in a long maxi-dress… walking along just by the waters edge.

Unusually for me I asked her where she got the dress, and even more unusually for me she replied without giving me a slap for beeing cheeky!

It was FC, and I took the trouble to look it up (see ad… bottom row middle). http://www.frenchconnection.com/category/Woman+Collections+Dresses/Dresses.htm

I thought it was really nice and showed my girlfriend… however as she is rather small and petite, she politely declined… but said if I was going to buy her anything, could I get her some designer distressed denim shorts. AAAarrrggghhh!

Brand image is way more important than style today. People want something that’s recognizable to others, even if only a few others. You have a custom-made anything and who’s going to recognize it?

Am I the only one in the world that really doesn’t find jeans comfortable at all? I’m not anti-jean, I don’t care what people wear, but I’d rather wear my rather loose slimming dress pants, or maybe a pair of khakis. I own a pair of jeans. I almost never wear them.

I’m the exact opposite. I wear jeans almost exclusively so when I have to wear something else I feel extremely uncomfortable.

I have some new dress pants which are comfortable and flattering but they’re not jeans so I feel naked and out of sorts.

I’ve never found jeans to be comfortable, avoided them as a kid, and own none now. I prefer to wear dress pants, chinos/khakis, etc. Denim’s too… dense for me, hot and confining. They aregreat for durable work clothes, and if I was still working fast food or warehouse jobs, or had a home which would necessitate lawn work/gardening, I’d probably use them then.

I do think they look better on a lot of men than dress pants, but that’s because IMO most guys really don’t know how to buy well-fitting or flattering clothes. Baggy jeans look better than baggy dress pants, and are probably a safer bet. (Well-fitting jeans can look good, too, but a guy who knows how to get those probably also knows how to get well-fitting dress pants, and probably looks fine in either/or.)

I never had the right figure for jeans, never find any that fit, find them hot, binding, and uncomfortable. And in hot weather they smell. They trap body odor just like old underpants do. I gave up on them long ago and wear skirts, leggings, or dockers. I do have ONE pair of jeans from Walmart, with quite a bit of stretch, nice and dark. I’ll wear these when I’m going out in public with someone under the age of 40. Otherwise, the QVC t-shirt and pull-on capri combos are looking better and better, and I may get the chartreuse green set for solo trips to Costco!
