Oh, okay, yeah that does sound a bit different from what I wear. I’ve never tried boy shorts but I’m not sure I want to. They seem like they have a bit too much coverage for me.
Never heard it put quite so eloquently, but I agree. That’s the best part about it.
I’ve noticed that quite a few boyshorts, being low-rise and often seamless, manage to do the job of a thong. Depending on what you’re wearing, there are often no visible panty lines because the material ends where your legs meet your torso (where the material is sometimes less tight than on your butt)
Not petite or short-waisted, though small-waisted and big-butted. More importantly, I am a Delicate Flower Princess who can’t stand the slightest clothing discomfort and never has been able to. (Used to drive my mom bonkers. “It doesn’t FEEL RIGHT! I will NOT wear it!”)
I entirely concur with your delightful description of well-mannered underpants, and that’s how my thongs behave. The troubles you spoiler are a fair description of how full-coverage undies work on me. The elastic across what is supposed to be the backs of the legs inevitably migrates crackwards until it lodges, waddedly, where the sun ought not to shine. Good soft cotton thongs are *designed *to go to the same place without the bulk or chafing, and without taking the crotch along for the ride, leaving that crotch evenly distributed in the appropriate position.
Of course, I haven’t worn close-fitting unstretchy pants (like, say, jeans) for two decades, so the chafing is minimal anyway. I vividly remember when I first discovered cotton lycra in 1989: a truly life-changing experience.
Your theories intrigue me and I would like to subscribe to your drawers-of-the-month club.
Really, the real problem with all panties is that you can’t try them on for size! Unless you go the two-layer route, which is impractical and only even possible for the expensive kind.
Seconding the low-rise thong recommendation. I have very long legs and a relatively short upper body and the low rise kind fit better for me.
I wear thongs about 90% of the time, switching to the backup underwear for shark week (well, shark 3 days, but w/e). DKNY makes some nice ones, so does Calvin Klein. I don’t have an VS underwear currently as I have been disappointed with their quality in the past.
If you get the right size, they are unnoticeable. The lack of panty lines makes my clothes fit better and looks nicer as well.
I, like a previous poster, have had much luck with the low-rise cotton thongs from VS’s pink line. However, I also have had luck with the plain old VS cotton low-rise thongs (just got another free one this weekend). I wear them pretty much every day. If you’re between sizes, err on the larger size and you’ll be thankful.
I’ve never tried a thong and the whole idea just seems…gross. Not to get too indelicate, but no matter how good one’s personal hygiene is, the idea of clothing rubbing against THAT part of the anatomy just sounds icky.
Boyshorts frustrate me because they seem like a great idea, but I have a bigger butt and smaller waist, so my cheeks end up showing anyway and then I have folded fabric just sitting around on the front of my legs.
Does anyone have a good recommendation for working out underwear? My underwear won’t give me a single wedge issue all day, but get me working out (especially in my circuits class, where we lunge, do jumping jacks, squats, etc.) and it’s wedge city. I’ve tried bikinis, boyshorts, hipsters. Arrr!
Which is the primary (and nearly exclusive – I only have one really clingy dress made of lightweight enough fabric for it to matter) reason I wear 'em. Which is also the reason I don’t wear 'em as everyday wear. If Boyo isn’t gonna see them, there’s not much point.
But yeah, they are very much appreciated in those circumstances, especially if there’s going to be ass-smacking of any kind.
