OK to post a thread like this?

I’m writing a personal statement for medical residency apps. I have great regard for the opinions of TM, and I am considering posting my personal statement in MPSIMS for their input.

Is such a thread frowned upon?

How about posting it in IMHO first and then depending on how long your statement is you could just provide a link. I don’t think that would be a problem.

If it’s not ridiculously long (a simple document and not some manifesto) and not overly filled with personal information (stuff that could be used by some unscrupulous person to figure out who you are, where you live, etc.), sure, go ahead.

Remember that this process gives you zero privacy and may be seen by gods only know who.

You might mention in your thread that you cleared it here first.

Good luck.

You might also consider that zillions of other people might re-use it themselves to get into school…

Already thunk it. If the statement is good enough that others want to use it, fine with me. Although, since it includes a description of my thesis research and why Dermatology is the right field for me, it may be tough to adapt for general use.

Well, I was thinking a bit more along lines that people might adapt & use it & when your school searches the net for yours & finds out that its downloadable on the net, they might think you didn’t write it. But, I assume you already submitted it

I can’t wait to hear about that!
