OK, who saw the "Farscape" season premiere?

I really don’t know what to make of it. Surreal, yes, but something’s missing…

I’m not sure what to make of the new chick whose hand got bit off…same about the mercenaries. OK, one definitely drowned in the muck, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he or they suddenly reappeared…

I cracked up during the first beach “alternate reality” with Scorpy wearing a Hawaiian shirt! LOL! I expected him to keep popping up. Aeryn looked as though someone had stuck a basketball in her abdomen (I’ve never seen a perfectly “rounded” pregnancy in my entire life, but maybe it was accurate?!)

And please, please, I can’t bear Pilot to look and sound so old…

Forgive me if this sounds a bit stilted. As I said, I don’t know what to make of it. I love Farscape – I just don’t like all this unsettled stuff.

Opinions? Thoughts?

I agree, after the AMAZING final few episodes of last season, this one was a little underwelming and more than a little confusing. I am sure more good stuff is coming however.

It was not all bad though, Scorpy wearing a Hawaiian shirt rocked, and I thought that the new opening credits were cool.

Ummm… unless I am realy confused, that was not * the * Pilot just * a * pilot – on a different Liviathan, not Moya.

Yeah, that confused me too. See, I was a little distracted during the previous episode and didn’t see all that transpired.

In retrospect, didn’t Moya and Pilot, Dargo, and Rigel go through the wormhole and leave John stranded? Then it wouldn’t have been Moya that John was on. Also, it seemed to me that Pilot kept calling the ship something other than Moya. I was thinking, “Huh? He didn’t say Moya. Well, maybe I missed something because the bloody neighbour is stomping up the stairs…”

So that wasn’t Moya and Pilot. It makes more sense now.

MY SO says the same thing – I thought that John had somehow found Moya, and something had transpired between Moya at the graveyard and when John found her – hence, Pilot being so old and everything. SO says that Pilot isn’t Pilot because 1) this particular Pilot’'s an old woman, and 2) since when do the “thingys” (I don’t remember what their name is) with the eyestalks play the 1812 Overture?

And yes, Moya and company went through a wormhole during last season’s finale, John was stranded, and Aeryn left on her own…now what I’m trying to remember is how Chiana and Rigel found John…

IIRC, Jool (and of course Pilot) were the only ones aboard Moya when she was flushed down the wormhole. Chiana and Rygel left in a pod but came back because there were “wanted” notices everywhere they went. Aeryn fled in her Prowler and D’Argo hared off in the Batmobile.
As a stand-alone episode “Crichton Kicks” was okay, but as a season opener it was a letdown.

DRDs. Some time ago, when I poked around on the Farscape sections on scifi.com, there was a little bit about them from Crichton’s logs. Apparently, no one actually knows what the letters “DRD” stand for, or if they’re part of the biology of a leviathan or something added by the Peacekeepers to help with maintenance.

According to the closed captioning, the leviathan that Crichton was on in this episode was called Elack. It’s a different ship altogether.

I liked this season premiere quite a bit.

Okay, I’m a bit of a Farscape expert, so let me explain.

  1. That was another Leviathan, not Moya.

  2. There were three people on Moya when it entered the wormhole. Pilot(duh), Jool, and the three eyed woman.

  3. Every season premiere of Farscape has been a bit of a slow one, since it ties together the last season and hopes to introduce a new one. Last years(“Season of Death”) is one of the worst Farscape episodes out there.

Wait until you see the next two episodes(it’s a two parter). Then you will get a sense that they are still going strong.

  1. DRD’s often have personalities. On Moya, there was one with a broken antenna who was John’s friend. He “died”(if robots can die) last year(every cahrachter died once last year). His name was Blinky since he could only shine with one light. John broke his antenna in the premiere episode of Farscape and he died in “Losing Time”

If you are interested here is my list of who died when.

  1. Aeryn- dead at the beginning of season.

  2. Zahn- died when she separated the two ships in episode 3.4

  3. John Crichton- died from radiation poisoning.

  4. Crais- Died when Talyn “got blowed up”.

  5. Talyn- Died when Talyn “got blowed up”.

  6. Rygel- Died when Aeryn’s mother shot him. Stark pumped hiim back to life.

  7. Chianna- Died when she was twinned(she killed her own twin).

  8. D’argo- Same as Chiana.

  9. Stark- died by taking off mask to go find Zahn.

  10. Harvey- died when John conquered him.

  11. Scorpius- presumed dead at the beginning of the season, and presumed dead in explosion at the end.

  12. Braka- “died” with Scorpius.

  13. Jool- dead at the beginning of the season.

  14. Blinky- died when the core exploded.

I can’t think of who else, but I’m sure they all died.

John’s Klingon references had us all cracking up.

It’s likely, in my opinion, that Scorpius is still alive. They kept the actor’s name in the opening credits, and I doubt they’d do that for someone who will only appear in John’s head.

Notice, however, that Jool was not added to the opening credits. Huzzah!

Yes, Scorpius is alive(so is Braka most likely) and Jool is most likely out of the show. Surprisingly, Stark seems to be out as well since he is out of the credits as well. I actually really like Stark, but do feel that the show would be wise to slim down the cast a bit since last year it got so big they had to split Crichton in order to have “two shows” in a sense.

So hopefully, no Jool, no Stark(sadly), and a limited part for Raelee Hill as wel. I have heard that the three eyed lady from last season’s premiere is a permament crew member(she was shown in the credits, while Stark and Jool were entirely absent).

Ok, so the Moya came to the sacred space where leviathans go to die. It was there that John was stranded when Moya got sucked through a wormhole. Another leviathan came to the same space to die. John jumped aboard because he was out of fuel and needed a place to ‘crash’. It was the servitude nature of the leviathan/Pilot to let him aboard while he worked out his wormhole tech.

Here are my thoughts about things. Given time, John was able to figure out wormholes. You know he is going to figure it out again. What will that mean for the show? Further more, in the last ‘beach scene’, it seems that John was letting Aeryn go. Where is this going? I was hoping there were going to move forward at some point. Not keep with the two steps forward three steps back…

God I miss this show (stupid no cable rassmfrassmlittle…)

Is it just me or did the new chick, who can’t have translator microbes inserted, learn new languages entirely too fast?

I liked the episode. It was fun, moody, and still a little crazy. The touches of 1812 throughout was entertaining as well. Especially during the climatic pulley shootout scene. I’m not clear how the aliens could miss something below them coming up into their line of fire, but I’m glad they did.

Besides season openers usually aren’t ment to absolutely dazzle. That’s the season finale’s job. Openers are meant to tie all the crazy stuff that happened previously to the current storyline. That’s why this one was pretty good. It worked as a stand-alone episdoe that whetted the appetite for things to come.

The best they have ever come up with is “Diagnostic and Repair Droid/Drone/Darter”. They can’t quite seem to agree on what the final word is.

I thought they called that one “Pike”?

She may have already known everybody’s language except for Crichton; he’s the only person within many light years who speaks English.

They seem to like to give each new species introduced some special ability, but that “shifting one’s center of gravity” thing is just silly.

I enjoyed the episode, but it just seemed so very … disjointed. Chriton is outside a Leviathan, Chriton is inside the Leviathan and has grown a beard, and is writing caclulations on the wall. New girl is there, space pirates are there. There is chasing and shooting. Then Chriton gets a radio message and Tiana and Rigel are also there.

I can’t decide if that gave it a quirky feel or a poorly written feel.

Oh well, it wasn’t a biggie episode anyway.
