I just tested it out. It does not have a spellcheck. You have to know that the name starts “eyj” and type that into the query field before a drop-down list of similar queries appears. I doubt most people knew offhand the name starts with “eyj”.
Sure, but they’d be far more likely to search for “icelandic volcano” than the actual name of it, and that is what should have been reflected in the top query list. And if you search for “icelandic volcano”, none of the top suggested similar queries contain the name Eyjafjallajökull. Same thing using Google.
I am certain it’s just pulling terms out of online news headlines. In the top 10, it lists Hilarie Burton, Dietary Supplements, and Cadillac Escalade. In the last 4 hours, there have been news articles about Burton (she just had Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s baby), dietary supplements (a Consumer Reports piece on hidden dangers) and the Escalade (the most stolen car in the country). Which is just fine for its current name, Trending Now or whatever, but very misleading when it called itself as a top search query list.
