Yahoo! -- Trending Now -- simple question

Whenever some celebrity’s name is in that grouping (normally 10 of them) of “hot topics” what’s your first reaction?

I just now saw James Gandolfini’s name there and thought, “Oh, no! Tony Soprano’s dead!”

Turns out he looks like Shrek when he’s riding a scooter in the city.

My best guess is that 8/10 times it’s a publicity gimmick sort of thing. But 2/10 times it will be a death or terrible happening.

What do you expect to see if you click? Do you even bother to click anymore?

I did a thread on Yahoo Trending not long ago. The gist of it was, I find it highly suspicious.

I don’t participate in The Pit threads. Didn’t see yours.

Oh no, did _________ die? is my most typical kneejerk reaction.

It’s been often enough that clicking on any of those names takes me to a story about the celebrity’s latest project that I click on them a lot less often than I used to (which was hardly often, anyway.)

I will still click if it’s a celebrity of a certain age, while wondering if anyone has that name on his death pool list.

My simple question would be how to get rid of the bloody thing altogether.
Since Google FUBARed their image search engine… well their whole search engine but let’s focus on the image one… I’ve been using yahoo image search more often, which works well except every time I open the page I have the wall of inanity AKA Trending, where two bit “celebrities” mingle with some people I may actually have heard off but nonetheless have no interest whatsoever in their lives.
I’m puzzled on why would the people at Yahoo just assume that every person that uses their image search is some sort of celebriholic that they feel the need to make their entry page a collage of “Best of the Worst” at the news stand.

[/Rant off]
