The marketing sickens me, but from what I’ve seen in the ads, the movie itself sickens me more – the idea of it, since there’s no way in hell I’m EVER seeing it! If those are the good bits, I shudder to think of the rest of it…
The worst thing I’ve seen was at Kohl’s - a picture book based on the movie. The cover said something like “by Somerandom Schmuck, based on the Dreamworks movie.” The good Doctor’s name did not appear on the cover, though on an inside page they grudgingly acknowledged that the movie itself was based on another book.
Has anyone else gotten the impression that Dr. Seuss’s widow is not particularly interested in maintaining the sanctity of her husband’s creations?
Wasn’t the good Doctor against materialism and commercialism such as this? He must be rolling over in his grave while his widow is rolling in huge piles of money.
I only hope she’s raking in huge piles of money. I’ve got this mental image of a hollywood producer saying “This is just a standard form, Mrs. Geisel, just sign here … what is it? Oh, nothing, nothing really. We just need this to uh … clear up some paperwork. That’s it really. Don’t worry about it …”
The Cat In The Hat Movie is going to SUCK, like the Grinch Movie SUCKED. I really wish this Movie Company would quit ruining these books by turning them into movies. But, unfortunately they are making a Curious George TV Show and Movie - and I think it’s Live-Action.
Folks, calm down. There is NO Cat in the Hat movie coming out.
It’s just a marketing test by the Hollywood bigwigs to see IF any one would WANT to see a Cat in the Hat movie. They wouldn’t be so stupid as to actually MAKE this movie.
(Does anyone still go to the Post Office?) The US Post Office is promoting its products with Cat in the Hat movie tie-ins. Posters everywhere. Hollywood can now apparently advertise at government offices.
