Now, how do I go about adding friends? Is there a list of Dopers on live journal somewhere?
Okay, I am seriously stupid. I joined but I cannot for the life of me figure out how to start a topic there. Please someone less stupid tell me. And you can call me mean names while you do it.
Okay, mean names, what I did was register and add my info. After that I put my mouse cursor on the word journal. It’s in the upper left corner. Just select Updates and voilá, you get a page to post.
I’m going to make my first post there, what’s your user name so I can add you?
Go to update, then write what you like and at the bottom you’ll have the option of posting in your journal or the SDMB journal. This is under the impression that you’ve joined the SDMB community.

To add a person you click on their name (journal) and you’ll see four squares at the top of their profile page with little pictures. One is a head with a plus sign. You click that and follow the directions to add them. 
There is a SDMB Community, you can check that out.
Don’t think of it as a message board. Think of it as a journal of your thoughts and words that others can (and will) participate in.
Go to http://www.livejournal.com/update.bml?mode=full and you can post an entry to your lj. Make sure you are logged in, first.
http://www.livejournal.com/community/sdmb will get you to the sdmb community, where you will find most of the sdmb members are joined.

Interesting that this thread has popped just as three of my friends have started talking to me about starting a LiveJournal.
I’m thinking about it, but I think I might be inclined to pay for an account if I can be convinced that it’s worth it. I’ve read the features comparison page at LiveJournal.com, but I’d like input from those of you with paid accounts if it was really worth it in the grand scheme of themes? A paid account offers me the chance to get a style going similar to my website’s, but I don’t know if that’s a totally great thing compared to the styling you can do on a free account. Just little things like that are giving me cause to hesitate. Personal experiences would be very much welcomed.
Okay…I’m not sure how to enable my email, but I tried! Can someone see if it worked and maybe send me a code??
Thank you Idle Thoughts…sorry I didn’t get back sooner. I fell asleep as soon as I got home. The increased air traffic is keeping me up late and waking me up WAY too early. Glad my lease is up at the end of this month!
