Okay, you can admit it. This is the most entertaining election since FOREVER!

So it’s your fault?

Let’s hope the uniforms are as snappy as they were last go-round, eh Qinshi?

I honestly gave the Republican Party more credit than I should have, I guess. Or the American people.

The OP’s not wrong, but…part of me truly believes, if you’re finding this amusing or entertaining, you ARE a big part of what’s wrong with America.

For crikey’s sake, this person will command the most powerful nation on earth and all of it’s resources. This isn’t a reality show! The rest of the world is shaking it’s head and thinking you’re all finally about to get the government you so righteously deserve.

How can anyone think your nation will be safe, from those who would wish you harm, with a reality show con man at the helm? A man who cannot even speak in complete sentences and clearly doesn’t even understand the basics of the constitution!

Laugh it up! Enjoy your popcorn! (I’m pretty sure your enemies are!)

It’s weird, right? If this were a '70s political flick, everything that’s happened so far with Trump – drawing criticism for his temperament, and his tax returns, and his desire to castigate women about their weight, and his comments about Mexican rapists, and his weird fixation on the President’s birth certificate – would prompt everyone to criticize him personally, with a side order of comparative praise for sane Republicans; and then he’d exit the race, leaving his VP nominee to calmly stand there with proof in hand that he’s paid his fair share of taxes, blandly discussing laws crafted during the decade-plus he spent in Congress when he wasn’t serving as Governor.

It’s entertaining like a ride on a roller coaster. One of those really old rickety wooden roller coasters, where there is a lot of noise and shaking and a real possibility that your car could go shooting over the rail into a 200 foot drop.

I’m entertained in roughly the same way I am ‘entertained’ by witnessing a vehicle crash. This does not cause me to feel very good about myself.

I agree. And damage has already been done, it’s not like the hate towards Muslims and immigrants and others will automatically stop when Clinton is elected. Trump obviously didn’t create the hate but he threw a lot more wood on the campfire and helped it grow.

I’m amused by some of the stupid things Trump says and enjoy the Schadenfreude when his numbers fall, but I’d so much rather have a boring election between two reasonable candidates, instead of an “entertaining” one between a reasonable candidate and an unqualified demagogue.

May you live in interesting times.

There is a world of difference between watching a train wreck and being on the train being wrecked.

It’s entertaining in much the way a car chase is entertaining—when one of the cars involved is yours and you can’t afford to replace it.

I agree. The only way this would be “entertaining” is if you didn’t think the outcome mattered. And if you think this election doesn’t affect your life, you really are part of the problem.

I certainly enjoy beng able to get my snark on over Trump. Makes breakroom discussions so lively and fun.

But the reality is that many people truly believe Trump is the One. Even if I permit myself the comfort of believing Trump will lose in November, I can’t forget that his fans are still going to be a bufoonish presence. Knowing that some significant portion of the electorate is perfectly willing to turn the country over to an impulsive blowhard who will say anything for cheers does not endear me to my fellow countrymen. It makes me want to be even more of a hermit than I already am.

…or if you think that the outcome that matters is that you screw over your political “enemies”, at any/all costs.

It may be entertaining to you but it’s the most frighten and distasteful one to me ! To think that there is a very good chance that Trump could won is scaring the fucking shit of me ! I can’t even watch TV without feeling sick and I haven’t been watching the news as much b/c of this election ! I am afraid I might break my TV !

This election won’t end for years -

If clinton wins - there will be months/years of ‘rigged’ and other stuff feeding the frenzy - her presidency will be more blocked/denigrated than Obama’s - regardless of what she does or doesn’t do.

If Trump wins - within a month there will be outright battles in the streets as he attempts to put into action his plans to ‘stop and frisk’, ‘mark all muslims’ and ‘deport 11 million mexicans’.

This is idiocracy come to life.

I’ll admit, I was rooting for Trump during the primary, as I thoroughly enjoyed watching him bully the mainstream republican cesspool. I assumed that Trump was so bad that him being the nominee was the only chance we had of a Clinton victory. Indeed, I still think the only reason Clinton has a chance is that she’s up against Trump. But I am very frightened at how close it is right now.

I console myself a little bit with: at least it’s not Ted Cruz.

Even then, it wouldn’t be “entertaining” if you thought your “enemy”, if he/she won, would ruin the country for you and for future generations.

No, the entertainment is found in watching your opponents catch your candidate telling whoppers and getting upset about it, and not giving a shit that your candidate is telling lies as long as drives the other sides nuts.

QFT.

It was entertaining to me earlier, when I didn’t think Trump had a snowball’s chance in hell of actually winning. And if Clinton goes into the week before the election 20 points ahead in the polls, I expect I may find it entertaining once again.

But as long as Trump has a nontrivial chance of being our next President, I don’t find this stuff amusing anymore.
