Okay, you can admit it. This is the most entertaining election since FOREVER!

I’ve been blaming my lack of sleep on the election.

If it was Biden vs Rubio, I’d be able to turn off the news and the internet and go to bed.

But, dammit, Donald vs Hillary is just too damn, well, entertaining! But in a “Dr. Strangelove” sense: a combination of apocalyptic/horror/thriller movie… and a farce.

If the stakes weren’t so high, or if Hillary had a much more substantial lead in the polls, yes, I’d find it entertaining. As it is, I’m more anxious than entertained. Trump is the first major-party presidential candidate in my lifetime who I think would actually pose a danger to the republic.

Yeah, the next Game Change is gonna be a doozy.

You almost had it, El Kabong; this is like a NASCAR race, we go for the racing, but the multi-car wrecks are what we get excited about (see below)

This election cycle has the right trappings to be as entertaining as most elections, but way to many wrecks (even if we cannot look away) for my taste.

IMHO as always; YMMV.

Also, damage has already been done with Trump saying how the polls and elections are rigged against him. I don’t know how widespread the thought will be that Clinton stole the election, but it’s another flame that Trump has stoked.

Yes and no. We have two strong VP candidates. No, Kaine and Weld won’t both be at the debate.

I’d agree if we were observing a parallel, Bizarro America. But we’re through the looking glass and the stakes are far far far too high to find the whole fiasco amusing. He is ridiculous. But the circumstances are dead serious.

What should make this election less entertaining (I don’t find it fun at all) is that if Trump loses narrowly, this could actually be a moral victory for Trumpism. Trumpism will have established itself as a real, bona fide force to be contended and reckoned with. It will have *gained *legitimacy.

Not really, I find it mostly horrifying. I don’t expect to feel any better after the election.

I expect this to happen anyay.

This. The possibility that Trump could even win a single electoral vote is demoralizing as hell.

The GOP ran none. Maybe Kasich.

Pence? Pence is 'strong"? It is to laff.

In defense of the OP, I will probably bankrupt myself buying all the freaking books about this election, that is for sure!

I’ve been hip to the OP’s jive since early August.

Well, Romney was such a robot, there wasnt much fun in that election, either.

You know, I have to be honest about all of this.

Usually you don’t see the kind of ugly hateful faces like we’ve seen in this election unless you’ve pissed in the punch-bowl of a wedding reception and have paid another wedding guest to film the the entire room after The Wedding Toast.
Still, whether you believe in honesty, freedom and transparency in government and business… or just dicklessly bitch about it as “the work of SJWs”… no one can really object to pulling the phony smile-mask off of the Face of America from time to time.

While its true that the Tree of Liberty has to be Refreshed with the Blood of Patriots from time to time, any good botanist will tell you that raking the leaves and spraying for grubs should be done much more often.

Pence:

Anti-abortion, to the point of defunding Planned Parenthood

So anti-immigration he wants to get rid of the 14th Ad.

He is an ignorant luddite: “smoking doesn’t kill” and doesnt believe in Climate change or Evolution.

Wants to privatize Social Security.

Homophobic.

Wants to *expand *the Patriot Act.

I’m mostly ambivalent about whether I should be pointing and laughing. But the Trump nose flags - those things are hilarious.

This is the scary part. People don’t understand or care in the slightest how unhinged and emotionally unstable he is.

Wow, thanks for that list. Good reasons to pay attention tonight. Not as bland (nor as inconsequential) as many have painted it to be.

I am looking forward to this month. I do think there might be some truth to the notion that the press is now entering into a race into who can most severely discredit The Big Cheese. I think they’ve all been working for weeks or months on their Pulitzer entries and now’s the time to get them out there. The New York Times, for example, admits that they have more than just the tax documents that they have already released.

I am hoping for an entertaining October.
