Oklahoma puts the "God" back in "God damn it, this sucks!"

The Sermon on the Mount is dangerously woke.

I stole it from another SDMB poster, IIRC.

Who undoubtedly stole it from someone else. I’ve heard this going around for years, because as chappachula correctly noted it is a great line.

The word “homosexuality” wasn’t even included until the mid 20th century. It’s probably about pedophilia, which we can all agree is an abomination.

How it use to be interpreted is of no consequence. What matters is how it is interpreted today.

Also, all non missionary position heterosexuality is pedophilia according to them. See: Grooming

Yeah, no. I would imagine that a lot of precautions were written into the law to prevent this sort of thing - or, as soon as some teacher does do malicious compliance and it’s reported, it would promptly result in more things being codified into the law to prevent that.

…and the teacher getting disciplined, if not fired.
If you think malicious compliance will be met with anything close to “Golly! We never thought of that angle! I guess they have us over a barrel. :worried:” then you aren’t living in the real world.

In a state with no Teacher’s Union with any teeth, “malicious compliance” is a quick trip to the Unemployment queue.

The key to effective malicious compliance in this sort of situation is plausible deniability.

Even better would probably be to do it with something controversial within even Evangelical circles. Get them fighting with each other on whether they are actually teaching the Bible.

Yeah, you still have to be somewhat ready to be fired. But it wouldn’t need to be an absolute certainty. Go down fighting, rather than just quitting or giving in.

The way I see it, they want to fire teachers. If not enough teachers get fired in the first round of laws, they’re going to make the laws stupider until they do. And if I’m going to get fired anyway, I might as well take a stand while I do it, and further have something I can argue in the courts (“They fired me for doing exactly what they ordered me to do!”).

All very well and good…if you are actually the person whose very necessary job is on the line. I just tire of “2nd hand wiseasses” with seemingly brilliant comebacks for others to implement that disastrously fall apart when applied to the real world instead of a comic book world.

The OK legislature is opening a bipartisan impeachment inquiry on Walters.

I’m actually comforted by this. Since other Republicans are involved, it might actually work.

Unfortunately its not going to go anywhere. The house speaker has said its not going to happen, and it seems that Walters himself is demanding that they impeach him, presumably so he can win martyr points. Also the impeachment inquiry isn’t into Walter’s blatant theocracy push, its a budget inquiry about why certain funds that were allocated haven’t been spent.

Well, wouldn’t you know who won the pony - the only Bible that meets the criteria established by the state is the one Trump has been selling.

Well, there’s a $3.3 million boost for the trump campaign. WTG, Oklahoma!

Maybe Trump will give Oklahoma a volume discount.

WTF am I saying? He’ll probably charge them extra for bulk shipping or something.

Or simply not ship them in the first place, and pocket the money.

That would certainly be the most cost-effective.
