But we knew that last bit, too. This is Evil One we’re discussing, right?
Yet a casual reader might otherwise get the impression he has some connection with reality, if it were not pointed out otherwise.

I asked about this in a GQ thread, after being on a jury where someone out and out lied on the stand. Not everyone who commits perjury gets charged, let alone convicted. The seriousness of the offense does get taken into account. Do you know anyone, anywhere, who got charged for lying about consensual, legal sex?
Libby was indicted for lying under oath. He was convicted by the court. Clinton was impeached for lying under oath. He was acquitted by the Senate.
In other words, the process was fully applied in each case.
You do understand, I hope, that the impeachment process has fuckall to do with the legal system.
Perjury is more than just lying under oath. The lie has to be relevant to the case. Was it in the Paul Jones case that the judge ruled that Bill Clinton’s lie was irrelevant testimony and not perjury?
Just as a matter of common sense, I am going to be more concerned about those who lie concerning matters of state than those who lie concerning their sex lives. I’m not impressed with the personal integrity of either, but only one of them affects our government and potentially my life.
