(Old) A Chilly (Well, To Me) MMP

Indeed. It must have struck midnight somewhere.

chocolate chip cookies or blondies.

I wear sports bra most of the time, some of them from smartwool, others from Target. I only wear a good bra to church or other dress up occasions.

Watched a lot of figure skating, took Bella for a walk in the woods, made turkey loaf with sweet potato and broccoli for dinner. Going to take Bella for late night walk around the block then it will be bedtime.

A woman who likes my own style of jammies. How you doin?

Had a nice tuna steak and slaw fer dinner, argued with the dog for a bit on if’n it was time to come back inside. It was. Now to bed for me.

Take care, y’all.

I know them for their socks. They make BRAS too?!?

(Somehow, “wool” + “boobs” doesn’t seem like a fantastic combo … you like theirs?)

Wearing socks, thankyouverymuch.

ETA not SmartWool, and I posted that joke before seeing CatGlove originally.

Shooooooooot, I have one of those in the freezer. Now I gotta rethink …

The soup options are dead-easy: nuke (YES BRITS!) hot water, stir, insert spoon. Tuna needs some pre-work to do right, but I DO have fresh green onions…

Let’s see if I can manage to not :angry_face_with_horns: this up:

What should Shoe have for dinner?
  • Black bean soup
  • Green split pea soup
  • Seared tuna
  • Scritches for this cat who just occupied my lap
  • Popcorn’n’wine

G

Seared tuna, and share it with the cat.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 54 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 76 and sunny. The big item on today’s agenda is deheathenization in which I have Chalice duty. I foresee stoner food for lunch as today’s main need to feed. I will also attend my three o’clock group. At least it keeps me off the streets!

shoe it’s all said and done by now, but I voted for seared tuna and Monkey skritches.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then purtification for deheathenization shall commence.

Happy Sunday Y’all!

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off today. I shall do morning cleaning, and afternoon sloth and pro handegg. Spot is in the sunroom, awaiting the vermin’s rise.

One of my very faves - seared on the outside, red on the inside. Yum!!

When I mentioned to Neighbor yesterday that I surely didn’t expect him to split our wood, he brushed me off, then said “Maybe I’ll need something someday.” Well, yeah, that’s part of the neighbor thing.

While I was still abed, messing with my tablet till it was time to take my meds, I got a message about a rug I had on Marketplace. She claims she’ll be here later today, so we shall see. It’s a 92" round area rug that belonged to the inlaws and it’s absolutely not to our taste, plus we have no place to put it.

I know FCD doesn’t want to sell it, but then I think he’d set up a shrine to his folks if he could. I know he misses them and he still carries some guilt that he couldn’t fix all that ailed them, but that’s not healthy (IMHO) and we’ve got enough of our own stuff in the house - we don’t need theirs, too. Anyway, cold-hearted me has been gradually selling/giving away assorted items, or putting them other than in our living room (the ducks and chickens are now in the basement.) With luck, the rug will be gone today, too.

Daughter took her spawn to a Halloween thing in St. Mary’s City yesterday, Roxy was a mermaid and Tobias was a Unicorn. From the photos she posted, it looked like it was a fun time. They’re supposed to come here for a visit later today so I need to get my yard work done first thing. I have a buttload of lilies and I figured out where I’ll plant them. Maybe I can start on the iris today, but that might be a chore for tomorrow. We shall see.

And so my day begins. Starting with 42 Ferrets, on the way to the 60s and no rain in the forecast for at least a week - maybe more yard work will get done. Maybe.

Happy Sunday!

I look forward to cooking Thanksgiving every year. It is usually just the four of us with my two daughters but now my older daughter has a Significant Other to add to the meal. We will see how it works out

Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 11c/51f with no predicted change, and a chance of showers. Weather app says “It’s wet and slippery. Get your head out of the fucking gutter, pervert!”

Cookie I don’t see anything wrong with getting T-Day dinner from a restaurant. If it’s stressful and painful to do all the prep work yourself, and there’s just the two of you, why not let someone else handle all of that? You get to relax and enjoy the day instead.

flyboy I’m glad to hear that Mrs LA is feeling ok after her dentistry. The menu at Cedars look yummy!

doggio hope you feel better today, it must be the salad that did for you :frowning:

I am much the same, I have found it quite difficult to find something that’s really comfortable. After my last proper bra fitting, I bought two that are fine for everyday wear, and also a couple of really good sports ones that just feel much more supportive than the others.

Moooom it’s not cold-hearted to sell or give away things you neither need nor want. FCD might not see it that way, but that’s all part of him dealing with his own grief and the guilt he feels. To the rest of us, it’s just “stuff” - my mum left me some specific things in her will that I don’t really want, but she didn’t want my brother to have them. Now I’m stuck with stuff I have no real use for too :face_exhaling: and now I have to find a new home for it as well.

Yesterday was a busy one for me. I went to the gym early, then the hairdresser, then collected 'im indoors and went out for lunch at Jack’s Café, then did errands in town, went to the pet store for cat litter, then went home via a supermarket as 'im indoors wanted some things that would have been awkward for him to get home by himself (he doesn’t drive), then home to unload the car. We had a chippy tea then got an Uber into town for our night out at the Giffard.

Much fun was had, we met up with two Welsh friends and had a chat about good places to go for a curry so now I have to send them a couple of recommendations  All the bands were very good, I had a nice chat with the headline band’s singer…she was doing her vocal warmups in the ladies terlits (there’s really nowhere else!!) and of course, I have some of my most interesting conversations in there  Watched them all, chatted a bit afterwards too, and 'im indoors bought me a t-shirt for xmas.

Afterwards, we went downstairs to the bar area and had a drink but the music wasn’t really our thing and it was really busy so we went to the Posada instead. They closed a bit earlier than usual because it was so quiet in there, 'im indoors wasn’t ready to go home so we went to the pub next door (The Goose). I haven’t been in there for absolutely ages, but it’s been taken over by Craft Union so their beer selection is much better than it was. We only stayed for one drink because the music was so awful  - went across the road to the taxi rank and found yet another cabbie who knows exactly where we live.

No big plans for today, it’s still wild and windy out there and part of the weed membrane needs to be put back in place. Might do that today, might leave it until tomorrow when the winds might have died down a bit. 'im indoors showed me some footage from where his mum lives as the whole main street was flooded. Fortunately she lives up a big hill so she’ll be keeping her toes dry!

Morning all. Slept about 7.5 hours, not without interruptions, but am mostly rested from my Sattiday labors. have made the NY Times run and have reading matter for the next week, and in several hours will dress appropriately and done my Sunday Dining (Metro Diner is on the list). Then probably some gym time while watching tackleball on the TV screens on the treadmills and that will be that for the day. Another good fall day, 51F now and heading to 75F with no rain on the horizon.

But viaduct?

shoe, VanGo, I also share your style of bedclothes. Been doing it for 40 years or so and just find it more comfortable.

swampy, Happy Chalicing.

FCM, may the rug get sent to a good home. And good on you to do what FCD can’/won’t do.

boo fae, that was a busy Saturday. Stay dry!

And onward into the day. Have a good one all.

Afternoon all.

OK, it’s windy now. This is a sheltered spot, but if it’s like this here the more exposed areas will be having an interesting time of things; the trees in the park I can see out the window are waving madly. From what I can tell, locally this should be about as bad as it gets and it’ll calm down over the afternoon. I don’t think I’ll be going further’n the garden today, and that’s just to pick up any stray pots before they blow away or prop things up a bit.

Made some more squish soup, which goes very well with the bread I bought yesterday. This has been et, with a few potions saved for future days. The clocks changed last night, so it’ll be dark before 5pm and my winter squirrel tendencies are kicking in again.

Good morning! It’s Sunday, with predicted pleasant weather here in Elkhart. We’ll probably open the windows and turn off the heat from about noon 'til nearly 7pm.

People in Paris are demonstrating angrily in the streets, because housing costs are high and because they are French.

Shoe, the modern bra is indeed a wonder of engineering, and the various kinds hold patents. Whether you want to merely contain them, push them up, or squish them together, there’s a bra for that. Even though it makes a lovely pun, zebra is not the largest possible cup size. Okay, enough mansplaining. Sorry.

FCMom, though he probably won’t admit it, one of the reasons your neighbor bought his gee-whiz log splitter is that he likes to play with it. Let him do it. He’ll have fun, and he’ll assuage his guilt over spending so much for something he doesn’t use much.

Breakfast awaits. TTL

Good morning! Not much going on here. I’m fiddling with my phone and Mrs Magill is going through her stack of magazines.

Last night, after several rounds of “What would you like for dinner?” I declared that we wanted hot wings, and Mrs Magill decided I was right, so we packed ourselves up and headed over to the local Buffalo wings joint. About halfway through the meal, I noticed she was putting bits of chicken in her lap. I asked about this, and she pointed out that if we came home smelling of chicken and French fries and didn’t have any for her, Chloé would never forgive us. I decided her logic was sound, and grabbed a sauce cup with a lid. No, we don’t think we spoil our dog. Why do you ask?

I earned bonus points for remembering to scrub under my fingernails before taking out my contract this time.

I’d come this close to suggesting a pizza from the family owned joint, but we did tat last week.

We’ve done that a couple of times. Post Thanksgiving is so hectic, we take advantage of the first non-rainy weekend in November.

I’ve graduated to wearing a bralette (with the foam cups removed) full time, not for support [1], but to mostly keep my shirt from brushing against them. Question for the more experienced bra wearers: Will that itching in the center of my back ever go away?

Now I want split pea soup. I need to find a ham hock.

As do I. It’s a project meal, and when it all comes together, it is very satisfying.

Nice.

Okay, it’s been nearly twenty-four hours, and not one person commented on the time stamp? What’s the point of committing to the bit? My talents are wasted here.

  1. I’m very much a member of the itty-bitty titty committee. ↩︎

My mom used to put bacon, saurkraut, and potatos in her pea soup.

Happy Sunday!

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to do KP. Today should be mostly RDOS, although I will put on a pot of chicken veggie barley soup in a bit.

Y’all have a great day!

Had to de-muck my home office, which meant putting papers away in their rightful place. So I was already going through boxes in the cellar and behold:

I was thinking that the Swarovski Halloween mouse would look cute next to my glass pumpkin, but I think the sizes might not work:

Looking just ducky!

If you find a bra that suits you and it’s less than $50, that’s a good deal, IMHO. The fun thing about bras is that everybody’s different. For example, I can’t stand Triumph bras - they always itch.

As far as I know, the farmer shops here in Switzerland sell only local items. I don’t know if it’s an actual rule or a point of pride. If they do sell chocolate truffles, it’s because someone bought chocolate and other ingredients and made them.

I have to make sure I don’t start reading Cat Glove’s food descriptions on the way to the gym. I’m supposed to sweat on the weight machines, not drool.

When my maternal grandmother died, my mom wanted to give me one of her diamond rings. But I don’t like jewelry and I never saw my grandmother wearing that particular ring, so it didn’t even have sentimental significance. And I told my mom so. So she kept it.

She also has been giving away her jewelry - she has a lot that she bought on cruises - and I’ve had to tell her repeatedly, I don’t like jewelry. I wear a plain gold wedding band and that’s it. On very rare dressier occasionas, I might put on a necklace. Frankly, I’m not sure if anyone will want my sparse collection of necklaces and bracelets. Oh, and there are all of MIL’s necklaces that are sitting in her little jewelry box - Daughter doesn’t want them because they’re not to her taste. None are valuable and if not for FCD, they’d go to the grands for costume wear.

I had not considered that, but you could very well be right. Haven’t heard from him yet, but I’ve cleared the area for the wood. I hope it’s enough space.

Rug lady should be here any time now. So will Daughter and her spawn and Trevor. I planted a buttload of lilies after cleaning the firewood storage area. So I’m taking a break. Not sure what this afternoon will bring.

Mrs. L.A. had biscuits and gravy. Just mentioning, because I thought it might amuse you. She was pretty hungry. She also ate a side order of over-easy eggs and most of a side order of hashbrowns.

Mrs Magill made us some egg sandwiches on English muffins and put leftover patty sausage on mine. I have a happy belly. Chloé, on the other hand, is most disappointed there were no eggy plates to clean.

I actually got bored and checked; you can typically have a small stall on a farm selling only farm produce without planning consent here, but if it becomes a larger shop, then the full planning rules kick in and it doesn’t matter if you’re selling your own stuff or not. A few places here have started setting up vending machines instead of a little stand with an honesty box, so they can just come round and top it up as needed.

The wind has definitely dropped, though we still have a few hours of warning left. It looks like even my tall sunflower -which was drying for seed- has made it through, with a bit of a list, and I have acquired no trampolines.

Hope 'im indoors’s Mum stayed nice and dry BooFae, sounds like they’ve had a few powercuts and similar round that way, as well as all the wet.
