(Old) A Chilly (Well, To Me) MMP

The Barenaked Ladies have entered the chat, although, alas, they don’t seem to have made any flower-themed songs.

C’mon, Lone Star State!

Ah, my favorite recipe add-on. “To taste.”

Your last word was probably the best explanation.

Gardeners share. “I have an absolute crapload of { whatever } it’s very low maintenance!”

Stuff like that is a godsend to folks trying to landscape on a low/no budget. Bonus if it blooms in pretty colors.

… until they find out why people were so happy to get rid of stuff.

{ cough } BAMBOOooooooo … :panda:

I giggled. Well played, Metal & Mollie.

Also, you have the best stories @JaneDoe42 please never stop sharing.

One (1) chicken thigh (guess why?) roasting on diced carrots, half an onion, and probably more garlic & butter than can possibly be considered healthy - and I remembered the poultry seasoning this time! - and I went ALLLL the way back out just for little potatoes to add to the mix.

Damn taters.

I couldn’t talk to a person (my job doesn’t allow me the luxury of waiting on hold), so I just paid what the website told me.

She said she thinks the mailing list she’s addressing from is of registered Democrats who did not vote in the last election.

I’d like to spend a week back in L.A.

Sorry!

My sister is quite the gardener and she hits plant swaps about once a month. She’s gotten some really cool plants and taken some stuff that has multiplied too much, so is pretty happy with the process.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. It’s 47 degrees Ferret Height(8.333 Centipedes).

Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 9c/48f with a predicted high of 10c/50f and a chance of rain. Weather app says “More rain to screw up your fucking plans today.”

flyboy I’d say Mrs LA is spending her time off very well.

That sounds like a recipe for disaster! I would probably want to avoid it too, unless there were family members I was absolutely desperate to see.

My second generation Kindle is no longer support so all I can do is read whatever’s left on there. I am not buying another one because Bezos doesn’t need the money and I am still sulking about it. I’m actually expecting Da Jungle to cancel my account since I haven’t bought anything from them in over 12 months.

Bright Tree hope Ollie has recovered from his puking spell! Blossom has done that a couple of times recently, I think it’s because she inhales her food and then her stomach regrets that later

Yesterday was a fairly productive irk day, I got logged off on time and did a couple of things before I went off to the gym. Got home and had a restorative cup of tea while 'im indoors was making dinner, watched some tellybox stuff and went to bed roughly on time.

Today looks less grim outside than yesterday, which is good because I really do have to go and do the grocery shopping at lunchtime. No other plans for the day aside from making campus food for the rest of the week, and making something for dinner tonight. I got some chicken out of the freezer so am thinking about tarragon chicken for tonight.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 45 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 78 and sunny. We shall procure provisions this mornin’, then we will RDOS sloth for a while. Our precinct (that word never looks like it’s spelled right) will be open from two p.m. - seven p.m. for early votin’ today and tomorrow, so we’ll go over and vote today. I may also go to Evening Prayer over to the church house at six p.m. Sup will be hamburger steak with onion gravy, green beans, roasted baby carrots and Zatarain’s cilantro lime rice. Never had the rice before, so 'twill either be yum or yuck. One must experiment from time to time one supposes.

JtC glad you could help the young lad out and so nice of you to not laugh, at least whilst helpin’ him out. A do it yourself wax kit does not sound like a good idea.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then I shall purtify and don attire acceptable for bein’ amongst the great unwashed. What I go through for my public!

Happy Hump Day Y’all!

Morning.

My sleepy habits are really out of whack- last night I slept right through til 8.30, when I got woken by my phone and then went straight back to sleep until nearly 10. It would be nice to spread the sleep out a bit more, rather than being all or nothing.

It’s cloudy and raining, with no big plans for the day. I need to finish the presentation I have to do pre-viva, but I’m not rushing, it won’t be until next month at the earliest[1].

Why would anyone not? You can replant 'em and they’ll regrow (though best to chop a lot of the leaves back if you do, especially if they’ve been sitting out for a bit, to help 'em establish better).

It’s the bestest bit about plants IMO- you get a plant, you chop it in half, you have two plants. You can give it away and still keep it; lots of them come with an auto buy-one-get-as-many-as-you-want-free offer, with a bit of time and attention. About half my plants came from other people’s gardens[2], including most of the more interesting ones.

Hell, I checked the picture just in case it was worth me hopping on a plane and smuggling 'em back here.

  1. and I’ll need to buy some nicer underwear just in case ↩︎

  2. with permission! ↩︎

We begin with 44 Ferrets with maybe 20 more added by this afternoon. I’m hoping to finish digging out the remaining patch of lilies and liriope, and maybe start planting iris if my back and energy permit. I don’t ache as much as I expected, so there’s that.

The other chore for today is painting - FCD finally conceded that he’s not a painter. He hates doing it and, frankly, he doesn’t do a very good job. So I’ll get a first coat done today and probably the second tomorrow. Which means I should be exhausted by evening. That calls for a quick and easy supper - I think there’s some pulled poke in the freezer and there’s plenty of cole slaw, so that’s that.

Lessee - I have 2 buckets and a box of uprooted iris from my mom… because they’re pretty and if I bought as many as she’s given me, it would be $$$. A few years back, I put out bags of spider plant babies and they (as well as the cheap table) disappeared in short order. You, my dear, are obviously not a gardener.

I do know better than to take that. Unfortunately, my mom accidentally sent me bits of chameleon plants among the good stuff some years back and those nasty things are most prolific. Plus Otis like to lie on them, and when crushed, they STINK!!! Once I finish planting the iris (which I will check thoroughly) I’ll start digging out the offensive patch outside FCD’s shop.

Pfffft - do they really ever cancel? Surely hope springs eternal in their withered little souls. Can’t you do it yourself. tho?

OK, I just let Otis out since FCD is still abed. That dog is such a goof - I needed to use the facilities yesterday evening and as I walked to the terlit room, Otis followed on his way to his crate. So I locked him in there before finishing my business. Sometimes he’ll go back without fanfare, sometimes we need to wake him up so he can go to sleep. Now, tho, he’s outside doing whatever he does out there.

And so my day begins. We’ll see how long my energy and motivation last. Happy Wednesday!

Amaryllis is the little girl that teased Winthrop about his lisp

The only bad part of those gatherings is my ex-wife and I studiously ignoring each other. I must admit that I make a big effort to look like I couldn’t be happier in my life, just to annoy her.

You can still put free ebooks on from places like Project Gutenburg if you connect it up to the computer can’t you? I’ve not actually bought any books in yonks.

Good morning!

I once had a chiropractor whose standard advice for pain after an adjustment was spoken quickly out of habit. “Takeiteasyandputsomeiceonit.” I told her I didn’t keep mice, but there was a pet store nearby, and I could buy some.

Yike, it’s 9am already. Catch you tomorrow.

I always want to say ‘chir-op-it-er’, because of a long-ago cow-orker’s cleaning woman’s pronunciation.

Not to be confused with chiropodist, an old timey word for podiatrist.

And definitely not a chiropterologist, who would probably suggest you put bats on it.

{{{red}}} I’m sorry that your second toe is hinky causing need for a CT scan and the pic line staying in. Did they give you a day/time for the CT scan?

Just curious, what type of restorative tea do you drink? Caffeinated? Herb? Earl Grey? etc.

Executive decision made. As soon as FCD gets home with the paint, I shall apply it. It’s still in the 40s, so I won’t be playing in dirt. It should be warm enough after lunch. I am a delicate flower after all…

I knew you’d all want to know.

Good morning.

It’s 39F and a bit brisk outside. The day starts partly cloudy, but by late morning it will be mostly sunny, with a daytime high of 65F.

Red, I’m sorry you’re not quite done yet. I sure hope this is the last of it, but more importantly, that you’ll be fully healed.

Bright Tree, I hope Ollie feels better today.

JtC, sending hugs to you, your husband, and James. In an aside, as I read about Harry and the Raven’s latest visit, I thought how lucky you are to have a visiting raven. Yesterday, I was sitting in the great room when a very large raven flew in and landed on the top of my fence. I said, “Hello there, you pretty thing”, and the raven and I had a bit of a time looking each other over. He finally flew over to the big bird bath and spent some time taking some drinks. Eventually, it flew away. Although we have ravens here, it’s pretty rare to see one in my yard. I get daily visits from crows and Stellar Jays, but ravens are very, very rare, so this was a treat.

Damn taters.
[/quote] But I bet they were tasty!

I never made it to Costco or the car wash yesterday. For dinner, we got a takeout burger from Buffalo Wild Wings. I was even all ready to go, but for some reason, I just didn’t want to go out. I puttered around the house, and that was about it.

I need to get out today. I also need to do some laundry. While I’m out, I need to pick up extra dog treats to take with us to my son’s place on Friday. He always has plenty, but I want to make sure I’m contributing.

We’ll be getting to my son’s place much later than I would like on a weekday, but it can’t be helped. I wish YAG surgery could have been scheduled for early morning, but there weren’t any slots. I prefer early morning appointments so I can get on with my day.

I have never participated in a plant swap. They have some around here, and I might start. I do have one plant I sorely regret buying and planting because it’s trying to take over everything. I want to rip it out and bin it, but my husband thinks I should plant it somewhere else. I’m not going to because there is not a single spot in my whole yard where it would work. It spreads rapidly. I wish I had known that before I purchased it. I usually look up plants before buying them, but this was a clearance plant, and I snapped it up without my usual research. I won’t make that mistake again.

Alrighty, on with the day.

Please take care of yourselves.

Good Morning. Because Mrs Magill is in RI, I had to give Chloé her “breakfast” - an allergy pill, a probiotic treat, and a dental stick - because she licks her butt and we’d like to pretend otherwise. It’s been a while since I had to give an animal a pill. Chloé is a wiley one - she spat it out three times.

Dinner last night was Butter Chicken. Squeaky was delighted. He’s especially pleased that there was plenty left over for his solo dinners tonight and tomorrow.

I’ve been dealing with craptastic records in Georgia all morning. I think we may be the local service provider for swampy. If so, I wholeheartedly apologize.

For me, it’s more “You get a plant, you do everything you’re supposed to, and it dies.” I have a black thumb.

Second generation you might be able to. I know there is now a whole rigmarole to load PG books on there.

And now, I do to.
