Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 7c/45f with a predicted high of 12c/53f and partly cloudy. Weather app says “Mild weather is fucking bad for those of us in the weather business. Bring on the fucking storms!”

metalmouse I’m glad the higher-ups are not overly concerned about your issue, if they are saying not to worry about it then I’d do just that.

Bright Tree Blossom hangs around while I’m putting food in their bowls then she shoves her face straight in as soon as it’s put in front of her. Cherry comes and has a nibble or two then wanders off and will come back later, assuming Blossom’s left anything for her.

Yesterday was a fairly decent irk day as I managed to get a few things finished off. I logged out on time, made campus food for two days, then was about to have a half-hour on the sofa watching the news until it was time to make dinner. Except the power went out! The supplier said it was a problem with low voltage cables in our area and only affected 160 properties. It was not long after 6pm when it went off, they estimated 8pm for full restoration but ours came back on after abut an hour. Then I was able to start making dinner, which did turn out very well.

Back on campus today, the bus was a couple of minutes early, the train was on time and the bus from Big City Station was half-empty upstairs so that was a good start! Let’s see what kinds of nonsense are lurking in the inboxes now that I’ve had a cup of tea and some breakfast.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 47 Amurrkin out and partly cloudy with a predicted high of 79 and sunny. The big item on today’s agenda is a doc appointment at eight-thirty this mornin’. Fortunately it’s not vampire time (that’s next month) so I can eat and have caffeine. OYKW wants to go to Asian hog trough Buffet, so we will do that at lunch for today’s main need to feed. The rest of the day will be spent in high RDOS sloth, as I will have earned it after bein’ out and about twice in one day!

MOOOOOOM and doggio Jiffy mix has its uses as a corn muffin and as an ingredient in a corn casserole that I like. Also, as I stated earlier it’s good for waffles and pancakes. It just ain’t cornbread.

Cat_Glove look at you stickin’ it to the man! Glad the ticket got dismissed.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then I suppose I shall purtify and don attire acceptable for bein’ amongst the great unwashed. Le Sigh.

Starting the day with 42 Ferrets, headed to mid-60s. I’ll run to Food Lion for a few things, then to CVS to get my meds. Big chore for the day is painting, with a smaller task of emptying the dishwasher. I also need to head to my studio - I think I left some clay out to dry… since Saturday. Dammit.

Woke stoopit early with a stoopit earworm (blurred for your protection - Angie Baby) I always thought it was a rather stoopit song, even when it was getting lots of airplay. It reminded me of the time we had to write a story in English class and I couldn’t figure out how to end it. It was a convoluted storyline that seemed to go nowhere, so I had one character tell the other “Oh, I made it up!”

Silly me - I thought one started writing and the tale would unfold as you went along. Outline? Planning? Knowing where you’re going? Pfffft! It’s all about the inspiration, right? And now you know why I didn’t become a professional writer. Not that I made any real effort to become a professional writer…

Speaking of heating, the pellet stove has been going on and off for a week or so. I think I’ve found the magical thermostat setting to keep it comfortable in the living/dining/kitchen area while leaving the bedroom cooler. We’ll see if I have to adjust it when the really cold weather hits. I’ll let the furnace run a couple of times, but since it’s oil, that will be minimized.

I made air fryer shrimp for supper last night - really, really good! My variation was using Old Bay and some onion powder instead of the seasonings listed, tho I’m sure they’d be good too. I was really surprised how tender they came out. Definitely a keeper recipe.

I don’t think tidy is the word. But just having all the plants and mini-trees out of the way is a relief. Now I need to break up some clods and even the bed, plus put the stone edge back in. Then I’ll figure out the iris arrangement. My mom said she labeled some by color, but I’m not sure if I’ll try arranging them or just put them in randomly. I’m not all that good at landscape design. So we’ll see.

We got email notifications that ours were received. We dropped them in the box outside the Board of Elections building, so there wasn’t much doubt on our part.

Chewed? What is this chewed? I swear, anything I offer Otis goes right down the gullet. He does chew his kibbles and cookies, but pills wrapped in cheese? GULP! Scraps that he begs for when I’m cooking? GULP!

Ziva is a grazer also, especially at night when I’m trying to fall asleep. Kibbles are especially loud in the dark. Yeah, her dish is right next to my side of the bed, too…

It’s now light outside - a bit more reading, then I’ll be off to the store.

VanGogh, when I worked at the taillight factory, we’d do a yearly inventory. I remember one boss saying, “…and I don’t want any of those dusty dogs with 4 or 5 inventory tags on them.”

I filled out my ballot, and I’ll put it in the drop box on the way to irk. I did make one mistake on the backside (State Supreme Court candidate), so I followed the instructions and crossed out the entire line, and then chose the other candidate. As usual, I put my phone number and email address on the envelope.

MOOOOOOM think of the other possible ways your story could have ended. Alien invasion, nuclear bomb, zombie apocalypse, woke up from a dream, the drugs wore off, the possibilities are endless! I shall have to try shrimpies in the air fryer. Old Bay and onion powder sounds just right to me. Maybe some Cajun seasonin’ cause we like a little spicy.

Got my groceries and my meds. Otis didn’t destroy the house as far as I can tell, tho he was only alone about 40 minutes or so. Anyway, I’ll tend to the dishwasher shortly, then change into grubbies so I’m ready to paint when FCD gets home.

It’s 40F, dark, and a little foggy outside. Today’s high will be 56F, with mostly cloudy to partly cloudy conditions.

My ballot was received on the 20th, then processed and accepted yesterday. I tracked it on the Secretary of State’s website.

Shoe, I hope your shift sped up, and you got home and got some rest.

Both Buster and Maisie are snarfers, so I got them puzzle bowls to slow down the process. Polar, Brandi, and Captain were grazers and would eat at random times throughout the day. In Polar’s last couple of years, though, we prepared chicken and rice for him, so no more grazing. Captain liked to eat while we were eating dinner. I can easily pill dogs, and believe me, Polar used to give me quite the struggle in his youth. But I finally got the concept down, and after that things were easy. Buster and Maisie think it’s just another treat and sit there patiently while I pill them. I don’t have to do it often, and their Apoquel is chewable, so that’s not a problem.

VanGo, I’m glad yesterday didn’t include weight lifting, so your back had a little recovery time.

Nice work on the planting and weeding, FCM! You’re putting me to shame. Other than pulling a couple of weeds here and there and cutting blooms from the big dahlia, I’ve pretty much hung up my gardening tools.

I had Costco deliver yesterday. Dinner last night and tonight will be the deli chicken pot pie. It’s humongous and will get us through those meals. It may even get us through a quick lunch before we leave Friday for my YAG surgery.

I’ll knock out some laundry today, scrub and refill the bird baths, and probably bring in the fancy new fountain I got a few weeks ago. Since there’s really no moisture in sight, I’ll probably have to water my plants, too.

For now, though, it’s coffee and internet perusal time. The sun still hasn’t risen so it’s still dark.

Good Morning! We had a quiet night last night. Provisions were provided. It’s kinda hard to get groceries when no one want to say what they’d like to eat next week. With Squeaky working on the nights I can cook, I think I’m going to need to get some “for two” cook books. Most of my recipes are for five people, and cooking one night and leftovers of a week is a bit boring.

I’m sorry, but Swampy is objectively correct. Jiffy is too sweet. Martha White is… okay, but real cornbread is made with cornmeal in a cast iron skillet that’s been oven heated with a stick of butter[1] That said, Mrs Magill likes Jiffy, so that’s what I use[2]. I know which side my bread is buttered on.

I think they seek out those of us who do. Mrs Magill does not idle well.

She took it the first time this morning. I shoved it down her throat and followed immediately with her probiotic treat. I outsmarted a three year old cavapoo! Woo-hoo!

I’m glad Ollie is doing better.

In my irklife, when I took over the aging inventory reports, we still had stuff in the warehouse that went to phones / devices that we hadn’t handled in years. We also still had new in the box iPhone 2 in stock (this was when they had already come out with the iPhone 11). Six months later, we got rid of all of that crap and had room for stuff we actually needed to stock.

Freezer rotation is the way to go here. As someone who cooks for one, most of my repertoire is stuff that freezes well. I fix the dish, eat a meal out of it, put one serving in the fridge for a day or two later, then freeze in individual portions. All that’s left to do most nights is nuke my entree, either make a salad or nuke some frozen veggies and Voila!, supper’s done.

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to do KP. After, I shall shevel and go to the grocery store. Thus is my day.

Morning all. Only stayed in bed until 8am today, up and sheets and pillowcases in the washing machine, so I have been constructive this morning. Big Bowl O"Cheerios has taken care of my calorie count for the early hours and soccer with the littles will aid me in losing some of them in the afternoon. Another nice Fall day in N. Ali-bama, 64 ferret heights now heading to 79 later today and no rain in sight.

Bright Tree, glad stepmom and family are ok, albeit soaked. And yeah, it is tempting sometime (Kroger Butter Pecan has real pecans in it) but I’m still trying to watch my weight and too much of a good thing… And glad to hear Ollie’s doing better and yay! for voting. As for the vampire treatment, better you than me (being a big wuss when it comes to needles in arms).

VanGo, sounds like the warehouse needs somebody smart and ruthless enough to junk stuff that needs junkin’; soounds like you have a mission.

Dogs are usually easier to medicate than cats, in my experience. I prefer liquid meds for cats, since that’s a little harder for them to spit out once it’s squirted into the back of the mouth (swallow reflex helps).

It’s a very beautiful day here, not a cloud in the gorgeous blue sky, albeit a bit chilly. It was 42F when I woke up. I hustled as I prefer to get work out of the way if at all possible so I was on my way walking with 2 layers on legs and 3 layers on arms. Was the tiniest bit cool at first but the body heat warmed me up by the start of the 3rd block.

BF texted and asked if I was up for going to the Toledo Museum of Art today. For some reason I deferred to next week, just had a feeling today wasn’t the day. Well when I got home, Hubs announced that he’s leaving to go to the Sign of the Beefcarver at 2pm since it’s last day in business will be this Sunday. He was supposed to go with daughter yesterday at 5pm but he was feeling a bit under the weather. Today he feels good and doesn’t want to go at 5pm because the news program showed a line all the way around the building yesterday at 5pm. Seems everyone wants a last meal by the Beefcarver. Daughter won’t be able to join us but we will get a carryout for her. The Beefcarver is 19 miles from us but just 3.3 miles from Daughter.

I started working on my ballot yesterday. I filled in most of the races that I was positive about. Now I need to do some research on the others. Hopefully I can do that when we get back.

boo fae Daughter used to drink both English Breakfast and Irish Breakfast. Due to her severe gastrointestinal issues, she can’t anymore. Consequently I have a big box of Irish Breakfast tea bags. Perhaps now that the weather is turning I should bring it upstairs and start using it.

I swept the worst of the shop floor before FCD got there because I’m nice, dammit! The painting is done - first coat anyway. I can do the second coat this evening. The dishwasher was emptied. I think I’ve earned some chillage time.

Evenin’

It was actually bright and sunny today, for what looks like the only day this week- we have heavy rain warnings for the next few days. I did a bit of gardening; hacking back the rose that was sneaking over the fence and splitting and moving some stuff around. I need to move the raspberries as well, so I can plant in that bed, but I can’t decide where they should go.

I did briefly nip out to the garden centre, just to see if they had any more clearance stuff, but I’m getting fed up of the closest one, it’s a chain place and they seem to be reducing the plant selection every time I go, in favour of seasonal decorations and assorted random stuff. They didn’t have anything I wanted anyway.

Slept in a bit this morning (for me) and got up just before 0800. Another sunny day and already in the 60s.

Housekeeping came and did their thing.

I’ll be doing a short grocery run after the lunch hour is over. A lot of people go to this store at noon for their buffet line food. There is a Halloween “activity” this afternoon here at The Home, with munchies and drinks. We likely won’t attend.
