Well, in that case…seeing as how I just happen to have an account just for that…I’m down 4.09% for the last week.
If you listen to maga numbers, the market is going up but that is because they don’t know how to math. If you lose ten percent and then gain back ten percent, you have lost money.
PS, if anyone is thinking about changing their money guys, Edelman financial services does an excellent job and is well worth the monthly fees.
Aw man, don’t encourage him! He’ll be out of control!!!
Yeah, it was a classic response. I admit it.
We had a knock on the door earlier - it was a pest control salesguy, wrapped in plastic against the rain. I was nice and immediately told him we aren’t interested so he wouldn’t have to stand in the rain and do his sales pitch (which I heard from him or a coworker a couple of years back.) What I wanted to say was “The only pests we’ve have in the last 21 years are door-to-door salesmen.” But I didn’t. Because I’m nice, dammit.
We’re trying pizza delivery for tonight from a new place. We’ll see if they go on the good list or the bad list. It’s too rainy out for me to want to go anywhere.
Truckload of good vibes to missred, though it may be past the time the ER is done with her. I say “may be” because things happen slowly/quickly/slowly in an ER.
I was able to log in. My 401(k) current balance is 99.878% of what it was when I moved to protect my investment. Of course, I’ve made three automatic contributions to it (about $318, total) so there’s that.
Wait… So if I have $1,000 and it loses 10%, then I only have $900… But if I gain 10% on that then I’m still down ten bucks? What kind of librul math is that?
That is good to know about CFA cuz their nuggets are outstanding and in the summer they have lemonade with an ice cream-ish topping. And it is literally on my way home from the barn.
The garbage truck came at around 4pm – I happened to be looking outside when they got here – but I don’t think my normal pickup target is noon; I think they were only 1-2 hours late vs 4 hours late. I hauled it back to the patio right away. A little rain did get inside the can, and it smells sorta bad, so tomorrow afternoon (after the rain stops) I’ll rinse it out.
The last time I looked (on Saturday), I’d lost 6% over the previous two months: I just checked again, and it’s up 1%. Up is definitely better, but I’m still feelin’ a little salty about that 6%.
I rewatched it when I started putting the firehouse together.
Afternoon all. Have swam, treadmilled, biked and lifted weights under the eyes (and count) of the training guy (he also made me do 50 squats while I was holding a 10lb barbell weight to my chest, but at least least let me keep my back up against the wall). And despite rain before and the possibility of more to come, the fields are open so I’ll go down and coach some soccer in a little bit. Only 57F outside and not much warmer tomorrow, so need to tell the kids to ‘layer up’ tomorrow (as will I).
red, all the good vibes and positive waves I can send are heading your way. Take care.
FCM, at least the problem is correctable (I hope). Don’t think I’ve had a door-to-door saleperson in quite some time, they get the same answer as yours from me.
Cookie, I sometimes forget the mini-crossword too. Since it’s one I can usually solve fairly easily, I try to make sure to do them…
Well Played.
Oopsie, your trash folk are ahead of mine, never get a word from them. And 11 years in the same place is pretty good (owned my house 28 years, lived in it for 24 (overseas 1999-2003). Loved the firehouse, didn’t know it was opne construction like that.
JtC, I finally forgave Applebee’s, still hold a grudge against Alamo Rent-A-Car. Sleep well tonight.
And time to change to coaching clothes. See you tonight all.
They’re still working on a diagnosis. My apartment manager gave a key (my request) to my next door neighbor so he can take care of Nelson until Sis gets here tomorrow. They’ll be by with something to eat soon (I’ve only had 2 Graham crackers today). I want to get back on my feet and go home. I miss my doggy.
Howdy Y’all! We got shorn and then et a biiiiiig breakfast at Pearly’s. We were there with the Olde Pharte crowd. Between nine and eleven a.m. is the time to go there to break fast. The irk folk are at irk and it’s before the N.O.L. rush that begins at eleven. The rest of the day has been spent in RDOS inactivities.
{{{red}}} hope you get sprung and back to Nelson soonest.
I’m kinda sad, I was hoping that they would be able to send you home tonight. Poor lil Nelson is going to be so confused. Here’s hoping they will kick you out first thing in the morning and that this will be in your rear view mirror by Monday evening after you see your PC.
So we finally heard from the installation company and the guy who was supposed to be here today called in sick. That’s fine as far as we are concerned, a weekend to rest from the constant noise will be nice.
I took a look at the receipt for our stay and the nice desk clerk who went above and beyond also got us a fifty a night discount and didn’t charge the 40 a night pet fee.
I’m composing a letter to her boss complimenting her for her efforts but I’m not sure if I should bring the cats up or not. They were the issue regarding finding a room for the night, but if she waived the fee without authorization, maybe I should just not mention that part at all.
We are finally learning the timing here. The mines run different shifts than the working stiffs and the retail stores don’t open until 0100 so their lunch times are off as well.
@dogbutlerDrink it cold. (we are talking about going to see them next month. It will be Hub’s last concert, I’ll be sure he turns his hearing aids up!
I’m thinking it may be wise not to, but slip a thank you card with a gift card after you leave.
I’ve had supper (it even included a SF chocolate pudding cup), am on a saline IV (I was dehydrated…they didn’t allow me to drink anything most of the day) and freezing (you could hang meat in here). I really want to get better and go home.
An early late night final since I need to put the playing schedule together for the teams so the kids get as close to equal time as possible. Only two boys could make it to practice so we kicked it around for about 45 minutes and then I came home to my big bowl of Salad. Am looking for games to referee now, don’t want to overdo it but do want to make sure the games get covered, especially for the littles.
red, have they told you what was wrong yet? Hope you can get home soon. I’m sure Nelson will be OK (if extremely anxious).
JtC, a letter praising a good worker is always a good thing, but I’d be cautious about the fee-waiving part; just stick with how good she treated you. IMHO.
OK, need to do soccer stuff and then get to bed, have a 6:30am alarm to respond to. Have a good evening all.
We went for fish tacos for dinner last night. Our server’s (Carlos’s) sister just got back from visiting family in Guadalajara. Anyway, we didn’t go to dinner tonight. I didn’t know what to do, so I just thawed some boneless (Trader Joe’s) chicken thighs and put them into the toaster oven. We ended up having chicken sandwiches for dinner (She: w/Swiss, Me: w/Provolone). And dill pickles.
ETA: Carlos knows I want six hot wings to start, and a grande Cadillac margarita to drink. It seems like we always have enough points on our reward to get $10 off our meal. Carlos gets a $10 tip every time.
Today I stripped the polish off my “luxury vinyl” floors and applied new shiny stuff. I also did housework. I wanted to go for a long walk, but my sister called, and talking to her was more important. She’s such a sunny soul.
Red, my fingers and toes are crossed, and my worry meter is on. Let us know if you need us to come down there and smuggle in Nelson. Put him in scrubs, and nobody would bat an eye. Sending big hugs to you and your sweet boy.
Oh, lord, that’s my daughter and SIL’s Nebelung to a T. I don’t think they’ll end up getting a Maine coon for the foreseeable future but will pass along your sage advice. Poor GG. I wish someone did make big toys for Maine coon cats, though not toy salmon for obvious reasons.
Misnomer, that may well be the coolest Lego creation I’ve ever seen. How long did it take you to complete? If I started something like that, the next generation would have to finish it after my death, like the cathedrals of old or the Crazy Horse Memorial.
To each her own then.
Swampy, I love the name Pearly’s. Our next door neighbor’s name was Pearl. She was Mom’s good friend. Pearl wore her hair tied up in a kerchief like Rosie the Riveter. She’d stick her head out a window and yell, “Yoo-hoo! Rose!” or my mom would call, “Yoo-hoo, Pearl!” And they’d have a nice chat over the driveway while shaking out mops or rugs. It’s a comforting memory.
CatGlove, you’re one of the kindest people here, and you have a huge heart. Just wanted you to know that we know.
You, sir, are a beast. I’m very impressed!
Sounds like a nicely symbiotic relationship. You’ve probably explained this before, but what makes a Cadillac margarita different than a regular margarita? Is it bigger?
