Cadillacs also traditionally contain a Grand Marnier floater. Yum!
I happen to like Chick-fil-A sammiches. I’m generally of a mind that if I give someone some money and they give me a product that I feel is worth that money, that is the start and end of our relationship. I’m not about to analyze the political and social leanings of every CEO of every company I’ve ever bought something from. Of course, I’ll make an exception for Tesla and any Trump property or product. Neither will ever get a red cent of my money.
To anyone looking to renew a passport online, be careful. Last time I renewed mine, I went to an official-looking website, plugged in my information, and paid the fees. Then I realized (too late) that I was not on a .gov address. Turns out it was a “service” that fills out the forms for you. To be fair, they actually did what they claimed to do in the teeny-tiny print at the bottom: they sent me all the relevant paperwork, nicely printed out and in pre-paid envelopes ready to be mailed off to the gummint. Of course, you can find the forms for free and fill them out yourself. So I kinda got scammed and kinda not. At least they didn’t steal my identity or drain my bank account or anything; they just overcharged me to do something I could have done myself. Lesson learned.
Tomorrow I’m flying to New Orleans. I was initially excited when I got offered the project there, but it turns out it’s really an hour north of NO, over the Mississippi border. It’s a two-week job with a four-day weekend (closed for both Good Friday and Easter Monday) and they’re flying everyone home in between. At first I said I didn’t care about being home for the weekend, but I’d be stuck without a car and not much to do, so I decided to come on home, mostly because Friday is Mrs W’s birthday and we can celebrate it on Saturday, which will be nice.
And, everyone else’s flights home are much earlier than mine. If I can get the hotel to store my luggage, I might just ask to be dropped off at Cafe du Monde on travel day. I’ll have time for coffee and beignets, red beans and rice at Buffa’s, and maybe a frozen Irish Coffee at Erin Rose, then uber myself to the airport. That’ll be enough to scratch my Nawlins itch.
