(Old) A Day Off in the MMP

Went to see a play this afternoon: Agatha Christie’s “The Mousetrap”. It was okay, but way too talky. I’ve never liked Christie’s books, but it was a decent afternoon out, and the actors knew their stuff.

Sadie’s been off her food of late, which is worrisome. I’m keeping an eye on things; she’ll need a vet visit to see what’s going on if it continues.

I guess it makes up for the crime they committed in the name of pot roast for supper.

Isn’t it amazing how getting all cleaned up can make you feel half way human?

He should love it!

They still haven’t given me the results of the x-rays. However, like wet one, I did get a shower.

Sis is off to the Pubic Sto’ to replenish the produce supply. She got to meet the the neighbor behind me’s granddog, Blue, and fell in love with her. She’ll be back up later.

Church was attended, dorito salad is being consumed, and attempting to have an early bedtime.
Its to be warm-ish tomorrow and I look forward to bussing around as I start my 5 day job Tuesday.

Thanks for the kind words everyone, they do help.

In the cold light of day, does it really matter that he doesn’t know that Hawaii is a state? Will it make any difference in our daily lives if he forgets about Alaska too?

He’s still the same person, even if he does forget things more and more often. I’m epi-pen allergic to bee stings. There are big carpenter bees here which just charm me, I enjoy watching them buzz around my posies.

Hubs looked them up to see in I was allergic to them (maybe yes, maybe no - it depends on my immune system) and then remembered that I haven’t been stung in over 30 years because I do not fuck with the bees. So he bought a bee house to attract them to the front yard so I can watch them while I’m stitching.

Who cares if Hawaii is a state, he remembers the important stuff.

Oh, absolutely! I’ll plant some foreign posies just because I like the flowers, but my big plant will be something local so that the local critters will enjoy it!

I’m proud of you for choosing to eat a salad. I try to get veggies into Hubs on a regular basis, but he thinks that lettuce is a bleu cheese dressing delivery system and should be eaten with a spoon, so I don’t think I’m helping as much as I would like.

I am so sorry, I didn’t mean to rip at your heart like that.

LOL, of course the decision process will be well baked!!!

The only critter I do not want to attract to our yard is deer. I’m fine if they are in the back, but if they are in the front yard they might try to cross the highway at the wrong time. We’ve already woken up to car parts in our yard and a deer body across the street once, I don’t want to encourage it to happen again.

I know just what you mean. My biggest complaint about wearing that stoopid plaster cast was not being able to properly shower. Baths are just fine, but ya gotta shower off first or else you are just soaking in your funk.

Why does that corner have your name on it?

I was raised Roman Catholic (lapsed now of course). I always enjoy the comfortable pageantry of a Latin mass. Back when I won that trip to Romania, I went to a mass in a very impressive orthodox church. Despite not knowing a word of Romanian I still felt like I was sitting at midnight mass.

My paranoia levels are still at def-con orange. I think being there will prove to be a very bad idea. Someone texted this to me which didn’t help much.

So…moving on.

I am fairly sure we are past the snow danger as well. My lemon tree went out for the summer this morning and I put some sprouted potatoes in a grow bag. I never had much success with potatoes in AZ, I’m hoping for more success here.

I’m glad FCD didn’t have to turn the car around and go home, LOL!

Try to relax as best you can!

Didn’t we discuss this before? Popcorn doesn’t take any room at all, it just fills up the cracks.

Fingers crossed that she’s just having an off couple of days.

It’s the little things!

So not much went on around here. Hubs went to Kroger for the usual stuff and spent almost twice as much as normal and he didn’t buy any meat. We are going to be eating out of our freezer for the next six months, this is why I buy sales and stock up.

He also bought me a pack of lettuce seeds and a Marigold plant.

I forgot if I remembered to show you guys the piece I’m working now. I’m still supposed to be wearing my wrist brace (and I am for the most part) so I needed something easy that didn’t take a lot of finesse.

The falls were beautiful, and thanks to all the rain we had until recently, even more powerful than usual. There were waterfalls where there used to be trickles. I got to see a whole lot of happy dogs, which is always uplifting. And my nephew and both kids called. I am now sitting with my feet up with my Sunday martini at my side.

I did 10.5 miles, peeps. The only downside is that I realized my sneakers aren’t going to last me until May, as I’d hoped. I can’t get cheap sneakers due to my duck feet. However, I remind myself that wearing out sneakers is saving me money on doctors, or at least, I like to think it is.

All the talk about Eastern Orthodox churches reminds me of my childhood. In our Chicago suburb, the Eastern Orthodox services were held in a tavern that had a lot of Eastern European customers Monday through Saturday. Dad, an attorney, got calls from clients who’d been arrested after a bar fight on Saturday who wanted to be released to go to services on Sunday.

JtC, I think my daughter is your spiritual doppleganger. Not only does she, a cat owner, love the G.G. stories, but she reminded me today tha Easter falls on 4/20. I guess that means kids will be saying, “Look at all the eggs I found,” and parents will respond, “Oo! Pretty colors!”

Looking online, this appears to be a cold: loss of appetite, sleeping a lot, runny eyes. I’ll monitor it. I got her to eat by briefly heating her food to release more aroma.

Clever kitty dad!

I think there’s something in my eye. :people_hugging:

Talked to SIL today and she’s starting her road to recovery. My nephew installed a bidet on the commode in her master bedroom and she volunteered his services should I want one installed. I may take the offer up. I no sooner got off the phone with her when Dad called. Sis had had to call his stocking lady and ask her to check the ringer on his phone since he hadn’t answered for any of us. Sometimes it gets turned off when he slides it in his pocket and we have to call Mindy to check it. She’s in twice a day to put on and take off his compression stockings / safely check, so it’s more of an inconvenience than a safety issue.

Meds will be here soon and I will have the nurse help me with my own stockings and into bed.

The oven is not ovening [Uruk-hai]Looks like meatpizza’s back on the menu, boys![Uruk-hai] and the Canes did not hockey. At least the Wisconsin Old Fashioned worked. So ends my last Sunday before vacation.

:+1:

Because I’m always cold, and the corner is 90 degrees.

Spot had that when I got him.

Musical was excellent last night.

Church job this morning, then off to get new phones because my wife dropped hers and the screen stopped working. Off we had gone last week the whole thing would have been cheaper as she would have had a phone to trade in. Oh well. Then lunch and home to nap.

Now she’s at book club. About to heat up leftovers for dinner.

Tomorrow starts the epic week of busyness.

She is such a lucky kitty to have landed with such a wonderful grumpy old man like you.
You’re going to tell everyone that you are only worried about her because your wife will fret and everyone will nod their heads in agreement while secretly rolling their eyes.

Hubs adds a tablespoon of warm water to their gooshy fud to help them stay hydrated. One of our vets told him that it is good for their kidneys and he has never forgotten.

Do it. Seriously, everyone needs one. At the very least, you will save money on terlit paper.

I guess this gets filed under the joys of renting. You don’t need to start looking for a repair guy, you just have to call the guy who calls the guy.

Good times are always good

I just got a reminder text that I have to go to work tomorrow. My boss has been telling folks about the short hours and why, plus put signs up so hopefully folks will know when to show up for their onions and seed potatoes. We still haven’t figured out my pay, I guess we will talk about it again when she is back.

Mrs. Harry had some laundry blueing in the back of her cupboard and told me to not bother to replace it. Usually I would replace something borrowed, but I’m thinking that the layer of dust on the blue bottle says that she won’t miss it and that maybe a big potted plant would make her happier.

(my white cotton gloves, whimple and mask need to be bright white on the 19th. For reasons.)

Made me laugh and tear up at the same time. :smiling_face_with_tear:

Good for him. Plus, kitties food.

I always check the Buy It Before It Rots bin when I go to the supermarket. The other day, I got five poke Cheops for almost ⅓ off. So I made Shake ‘n’ Bake poke Cheops for dinner tonight, with garlic Yukon Gold mashed potatoes and packet country gravy for dinner tonight. When I went to get the potatoes today, I got dome BIBIR Choice chuck stew meat for more chili colorado sometime. (There’s still some chili leftover from last time.)

Time for the late-night final and wrapping up the week here. It’s only about 9pm, but between getting only 6 hours sleep last night and chasing 14 year old girls for 90 minutes (it was a soccer game, dammit…), an early bedtime is planned.

wet one, glad you don’t have to go braless…

FCM, glad you’ve made it without homicide occurring. have a good night’s sleep.

swampy, heathen that I am, I haven’t been to an Easter service in quite some time but I can remember checking my watch and wondering how much longer…

Cookie.best wishes to Sadie.

red, hope you get your release on Monday. Looks like another night at the horse-pistol. And a bidet is not a bad idea, i’ve considered it myself.

Coppertone, looking forward to hearing about the new job.

JtC, he’s not the only one who remembers the important stuff; you folks take care now.

nellie, 10+ miles is impressive for anybody, you should sleep well tonight.

Pavo, fingers crossed that the week to come is just epic, not terrible.

And that’s all I got. Take care all and I’ll catch you on the next MMP.

Dooooooo ittttttt.

You (and your booty) will not regret it.

Dude, I just got home.

That’s so much D’aaaawwwwwww, and also … that’s why we put up with them.

People give my skinny ass crap about buying rice crackers (the quintessential 80s diet food) until I explain that they are delivery vehicles for slabs of cold butter.

… used to be, spoonfuls of Nutella, but their recipe has changed years ago and it is NOT what it used to be.
Yes, I know why, no need to drag the whole “palm oil” thing around … oooh, now THERE’S a fun, distract-y topic!

Oh, lovely, you did not.

Bless your sweet lil’ heart.

No, or if you did, now I don’t remember!

Pics, next MMP?

“Mom will find out!!”

My pizza joint is closed for Easter.

I like to think some of the crew will be celebrating in less-than-Christian ways.

Me?
Imma roll over and go the :smiling_face_with_horns: back to sleep.

(Okay, eventually, when I finally emerge … yeah buddy we blazin’!)

Interesting idea.

We’ll see how Monks approves of such shenanigans.

“I know a guy … who knows a guy.”

  • Every gangsta/mob/druggie movie EVAH

Okay, that’s enufffffffff imma try to sleep now. Luv all y’all.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave.

I’m going to start doing that. She drinks almost no water otherwise.

Mr. brown might be getting a little on the forgetful side. He doesn’t remember conversations we had in the last couple of days, so I start to worry. But he can reel off the specs of some kind of stereo system or sports car from sheer memory, and then I feel better. I hope it’s just the everyday “spousal blockage” that makes him forget our discussions. After all, I block him out when he’s chattering, and thus sometimes miss important stuff that’s buried in all the thousands of words, so he probably thinks I’m starting to lose it.

Goood morning, folkses! Yesterday, we started a big jigsaw puzzle on a big 7-foot folding table in the living room. At about 2 hours in, my back started telling me to take a break and some Tylenol. My damn fool puzzle brain said, “Nah, not yet, I’m okay!” Oy. Vey. Regret.

Ah, but it’s a new day. I’ll take another stab at the puzzle later. After the Puzzle Page, Code Words, and most of the NYTimes games, that is.

Yeeg, it’s 9:00am, and I’m still mumping. Breakfast awaits.

Mrs. Nott is doing volunteer work with 4H. She did a bunch of seed planting in peat pots.

Today is her Poshmark Show Day, so she’s been pushing purses and jewelry all afternoon in the den/studio. I watched a weird episode of Black Mirror.

I got a new “knee pillow” from Amazing. The old pillow I had been using for that had gone flat, and I was folding it to make it thick enougn.

Gotta go. Be well, be safe, and be You.
