(Old) A Good Read in the MMP

I napped. Spot licked my head, and had some earwax. I made salmon, with rice, peas, and mushrooms. And having a gin saketini.

That is cool. < crosses fingers for a prior authorization for the knee >

I like it.

Taters, hope you can get the pup issues sorted.

We have talked about this, but so far neither of us have been able to touch her. Sunflower has gotten pretty close but still can not make physical contact before PG runs off.

I cannot. I have tried using the search function and it won’t allow me to search with your name and keywords. I’ll probably keep trying for a while, but success doesn’t seem to be in my grasp.

However. Most of that treatment did not end up on his skin, so I’d guess you are OK for another dose.

Mission creep happened and the PG started going to any Veteran’s funeral they were asked to attend.

They showed up for Dad’s Life Celebration and stood outside with their flags at quarter mast until Hubs walked Mom to the door. An order sounded and the flags went upright and Mom would have stumbled and fallen if she wasn’t holding Hubs arm.

They are good people.

Neat! I wouldn’t have thought you could use your cutters for sticky decal stuff. I would have figured it was for paper only lest you transfer sticky stuff to your next project.

He put racing stripes on our wheelbarrow. That he left behind the shed in AZ. grumbles.

We’ve always enjoyed just driving around and looking at things. We really enjoyed it when we had our jeeps because then we didn’t worry if the road just petered out. Nowadays I figure that if the road is paved, it will go somewhere and we could probably just GPS it if I needed find a place to pee.

Dinner tonight included baked pork chops with gravy. Baking here is amazing. We are not high altitude anymore and I can use the time and temp the recipe calls for instead of having to cludge things.

Is a trap and vet visit possible? If she is intact, having her fixed would be so good for her. You might never be able to touch her but you would be a hero nonetheless.

Here ya go. It was on August 1st.

I napped, woke up convinced it was Saturday. Was quite glad it was Firday. This needing to nap from being sick sucks ass.

JtC Baked pork chops and gravy sounds great! May force me to get to the groc sto tomorrow to get some pork.

That happens to everyone.
Suddenly, one day feels like its the other one.
Is there an official term for this?

Yeah, I went to bed last night thinking it was Friday. I woke up this morning thinking it was Saturday. But I did get logged into irk just after six, and didn’t inadvertently take the day off.

We went to Smuggler’s Tunnel for dinner. Once again, I had the Tower Burger – two 8-ounce cheeseburger patties – salad instead of fries, and no bun. I ate all of the salad, and took half of the burger home. (Actually, I think I brought slightly more than half home.)

We wanted to watch The Caine Mutiny tonight. I put in the Blu-Ray, but the controls wouldn’t work. No idea why. So we watched it on TCM On Demand.

SWEET. Thanks, that’s highly reassuring, and I appreciate you digging it up for me.

Pretty fast close for a Friday night; home by 1:45 a.m. is damn good.

I brought an instant oatmeal cup for my lunch, plus there was a veggie tray for someone’s birthday, so between the oatmeal and several baby carrots, I felt soooo damn healthy!

Good thing there were also mini cupcakes to offset all that healthiness, or who knows what might’ve happened …

Had one of those vaguely inappropriate funny moments that make restaurant work so fun sometimes.

One of the crew (a six- or seventeen year old girl, mind you) crumpled up some paper and tossed it to the trash can. She’s into sports and usually can toss a “basketball” quite accurately, but this afternoon, she missed.

Except, I was standing about a foot away from the trash can, facing her & away from the fryers, and her crumpled paper bounced off my left boob and went directly into the trash can.

Nobody else saw it but us two, and we just cracked the hell up, especially after she said, “Shoe for the assist!”

It took me a second to realize why that wouldn’t be the case. It’s Saturday here already.

Carry on.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. It’s my Firday.

Well, it is now.

My contribution to mundanity: Yesterday’s grocery bill was 30.30. Today’s was 15.15.

Nice to see the pictures of Pretty Girl and Monkey, plus GG stories. I feel like I’m being stalked by cats here - our neighbor has a free-range kitten, that’s been trying to visit our kitchen. Have to keep the door closed if he’s around.

After all that (the flexing, the push ups, etc.), I hope the prospect got accepted into the club.

Yesterday we got the company newsletter, and I found out some retired coworkers passed away. One was only 66, but he had retired early due to dementia.

Today is another blast of summer with an expected high of 30°C/86°F and not a cloud in the sky. And tomorrow’s high will be 20°C/86°F and rain in the morning. So I need to distribute some granular fertilizer and probably give the tomatoes some extra water.

Supposed I should get motivated. Such excitement for a Saturday, right?

Thought my favorite RDOSes would appreciate today’s “Pluggers”.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 71 Amurrkin out and partly cloudy with a predicted high of 90 and N.O.S. for the day. I shall actually leave da cave for a couple of hours this mornin’. The Diocese is havin’ a listenin’ session for the strategic plan it is developin’. The session is at one of the other Episcopal churches in town due to its more central location as folks from all over the local convocation will be there. So, from nine until eleven this mornin’ I shall go, listen, and have input as I feel the need. Sounds like a ton o’ fun don’t it! On my way back to da cave I shall pick us up a McN.O,L. for today’s main need to feed. The rest of the day shall be spent in high RDOS inactivity.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, alas, I suppose I must needs purtify and don acceptable attire. I will not say to be amongst the great unwashed as I suspect the majority of my Whiskypalian sisters and brothers wash themselves on a regular basis.

Happy Sattidy Y’all!

Do you have to deal with much of “I wanna play [position]” or “My kid wants to/needs to/has to play [position]”? One hears stories of such terrors.

Isn’t it so terribly unfair that women can’t just sidle up to the nearest tree? Well, I suppose technically you could but… Anyway, you should have gone before we left!! :stuck_out_tongue:

Retirement? That’s my excuse.

We’re promised low 80s today. I actually closed the house for a little bit yesterday because it was feeling a tad warm. It’s 56° at the moment, so chilly.

Terrible night last night - lots of hallucinations and a real challenge to convince MIL it was bedtime. I helped her get changed into her night clothes and got her into bed, then I crawled under my covers. Less than an hour later, I heard her fall in the bathroom - of course she hadn’t called for either of us to help. She had 3 cuts on her right hand, and because of her blood thinners, there was a mess on the floor, too.

FCD got her band-aided and we got her back to bed, then I gave the floor a quick mop. (It’ll need a proper job today.) I got myself back to bed, trying to wind down after all the excitement, when I heard her opening her dresser drawers. She was digging in the bottom drawer looking for gloves because she told someone she’d come. FCD came in and convinced her to go back to bed, and it was quiet after that.

Except I was so wired, I couldn’t fall back to sleep till nearly 2. So all told, maybe 4 hours of sleep. FCD had to call Hospice after the fall - they’ll be coming today. And now I know why they want us to get a hospital bed for her. Wonder if that’ll happen today.

I’m not sure what other excitement today holds, but MIL will definitely not go to Bible study. She’s in no shape for it physically or mentally. We’ll have to let BIL know she won’t be visiting him, either. Maybe I’ll pick him up and bring him here, depending on his mood. He was really weird when his dad died - not sure how he’ll handle his mom’s deterioration. Must discuss with FCD when he gets up.

Did I mention I jammed my left pinkie when emptying the dryer yesterday? Thankfully it’s not swollen or discolored and I seem to have full range of motion. But it’s one more thing. On the plus side, the batch of sloppy joes I made yesterday smelled really good. There are 2 zip bags in the freezer and a plastic container in the fridge for tonight’s supper. I need to get some buns, since you can’t just eat sloppy joes off the plate. it’s just not done! Nor can you use bread - no no no!

OK, continue caffeination. Happy Saturday!

Morning all. As usual when I decide I have to get up about 7am and set the alarm, I end up waking around 6am. So at least I am ahead of the game and have broken fast and gotten some stuff for soccer printed up and don’t feel rushed. The kids play at 9:30 and 11:00am, and then I am refereeing at 3:00 and 5:00pm, so it will be a full day of it. 63F now but heading to 92F so need to take some extra waters since someone always forgets.

Forgot to mention, yesterday in the mail was a fairly thick envelope, from the Scientologists of all people, guess they decided I was a candidate for their brand of hucksterism…in this case they chose poorly, their stuff was immediately trashed. Still wondering how they picked me out or did they just decide to bomb the region…

FCM, hang in there. Enjoy the sloppy joes.

Not really, I hear it sometimes from the kids but I play them all at many positions so they know that they have to play one to play the one they want to play. Parents have been very hands-off here, which does make my life easier, this is not a ‘competitive’ or ‘travel-team’ league so less pressure on all of us.

Nettie, always enjoy a good Pluggers cartoon. Interestingly, now that I am exercising more I find that I tend to nap less.

Nah.

shoe, well, at least it wasn’t a real basketball. Glad the youngn’s get along with thier elders so well at work (well, get along with you).

Now you have to go for 66.66

Life.

Bright Tree, nice assist there.

Alrighty, need to start getting dressed and ready for the long day. Have a good one all.

Lucky you. My niece’s husband is a coach and his son (3 weeks older than Roxy) is a super-competitive little monster. I’m sure it’s Dad’s (and maybe Mom’s) influence, as she was a field hockey player. Last week in the pool, he was out of control in a silly beach ball volleyball game. Oh, and did I ever mention his dad absolutely refuses for his son to wear pink or purple. Yeah, poor kid. And did I mention that Tobias has his own Barbie? His monkey is still his favorite, but he’s OK with Barbie sometimes. I’m thinking my daughter and SIL are raising a healthy son.

FCD has headed out to get his McBreakfast. MIL is still abed. I’m showered and dressed. We’re all waiting for the call from Hospice.

Happy Saturday!

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to do KP. Sloth is the order of the day today, although I do have to pick up a prescription and mail out a sympathy card.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

We used to do this a lot, early in our marriage, back when we lived in Santa Barbara/Lompoc.  Just get in the car and go for a long drive.  Down there, you could drive for about half an hour, and be somewhere completely different.  Another half-hour, and yet another completely different place.

Here in Sacramento, it’s possible to drive all day and still be in the same place.

Getting the Jeep a couple months ago, seems to have revived, in me, the drive to find places to go in it.

We shall see what the day holds, dear.

Amazingly, there was actually a little bit of rain last night, and 34% chance of more today. Unusual to see rain in August in this area.

Did the rain help cool it down and decrease any smoke?
