I am healing quite well, thankfully.
I can see my test results ( sometimes a bad thing!) But this said mild squamos dysplasia, and I read up on it. It can go away on its own, but I am glad I got bad cells removed. She’ll probably want to see me in a few months, but no lifting heavy items for a few weeks.
I had an interview today but it texted me they had to reschedule, which is odd.
I did, for tomorrow.
I decided to call and ask if it was still on and the guy said yes.
Theres cooking required here, but its a
Short bus ride so fingers crossed.
Made 2 cakes in 1 pan; makes it last longer.
I used to keep them in the fridge, now I’m thinking
Maybe its better to leave them out.
What say the Dopers?
I do remember. Bastids. At least you know you don’t have to get gussied up in the morning.
It sounds like this is not over yet. The buyers still want the place but want a couple of hundred to get rid of the rain barrels. BFF hubs went over with his work truck and took the rain barrels to their place so now the buyers don’t need to worry about that.
The realtor thought that was the best solution because the rain barrels were never part of the contract, but the buyers are upset because we didn’t have a conversation about it first. Whatever. The contract expires at midnight their time tonight.
If they don’t get things figured in the next couple of hours, they are going to lose out and have to book their extended stay motel for another month or so.
It only took five days for them to make their offer, I’m pretty sure that it won’t be longer than a week for the next full price offer.
Cat tree locations are very important to our feline overlords.
We once bought a new kitty tree to replace the ratty one in the living room. It was a great tree, tall and sturdy with great scratching poles and a condo and a crow’s nest. We moved the ratty one into our bedroom so they could look out those windows and guests wouldn’t see the mess.
The Queen of the House back then took one look at new tree and went back into the bedroom where she stayed until the ratty one came back out into the living room. She had zero problems with the nice new tree in the bedroom and took over the crow’s nest on day one.
After a year or so, I got really tired of the ratty one in the living room and swapped them. Nokitty cared or even seemed to notice.
I’m really wanting to replace GG’s ratty dining room tree, but it will be a while.
Up from naptime, having a Mexican Firing Squad, with the usual Smoked Paprika chicken and potatoes.
Reminds me of a friend describing a feng shui style D&D game based, complete with ninjas. I asked “So your opponent can send in ninjas to rearrange the furniture till you die?”
Yay!
Sorry you didn’t get the job, Sticky. Thier loss.
The week after. #WhentheGinRunsOutWeRiot
I keep wondering if you have considered making your own gin. The stuff Hubs makes is so much better than store bought stuff and only takes time (and room keep the bottles while they are infusing).
I have no where to hide a still.
Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to stare at broken equipment, waiting to heave.
ewww do they make it better? we used to get it I’m the food baskets but even the stray cats refused it
Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 12c/54f with a predicted high of 16c/61f and mostly cloudy. Weather app says “This weather is fucking boring. Let’s mould our genitalia out of Play-Doh and show the fucking neighbours.” Err…maybe not, ok?
Happy Doperversary, Susan
That’s an expensive pain in the backside, especially when FIL could have had it done for free.
Ophelia used to have two meds in the morning and one at night. She was sufficiently laid back that I could just chuck a pill in her mouth, stroke her throat until she swallowed it, then squirt the other meds in before giving her some fancy food. Shadow is not so gullible, he demands a fresh tribute with his twice daily medicine. Salmon and tuna have been deemed acceptable.
Feeling something is better than feeling nothing, right?
Oopsie Yay for grant work and getting something you enjoy doing!
Pilot I’ve never heard of a funeral rehearsal before, is this some new kind of Florida craziness?
Cookie That does sound like an interesting way to spend your time, I hope the students found it useful too.
Swampy If you’re after a semi-sane introduction, you probably shouldn’t be asking for advice in here
What a shame, but you’re better off without buyers like that. Hubs will have to keep tugging on his beard a bit longer. I’m sure the right person will come along who appreciates the place as it is.
Boo to them! At least they told you before the interview so they weren’t putting you through the stress when they already knew they couldn’t/wouldn’t hire you.
Finally made it to Friday and it’s been a mixed bag of a week - had Monday off work which was nice, made it home before the car’s battery died completely. Got the battery fixed, went off to do the grocery run, got home to a message via farcebook that an old friend passed away very unexpectedly. This was the third death in a week so hopefully we’re done with that now. Went to the whore’s pistol yesterday, now have to wait several weeks to find out results from that visit.
In other news, the university went back to court and have now been able to remove the peace camp from our Green Heart area, around 80 tents (mostly empty) were taken away by our Estates folks, helped out by some of the Security guys. The only student to be named in the whole debacle is now facing a bill of £40-50K in court costs, plus she’s already the subject of a disciplinary action with the university over other illegal protests so I expect she’ll be getting booted out pretty soon. The university does permit protests, rallies and other such activities provided permission has been sought from the legal dept - the unions also have to do this in order to have rallies and picket lines on campus. Very few are ever denied but the Gaza stuff has involved people from outside the student body, there’s been vandalism involving some sculptures that form part of the Special Collections, there’s been harassment and intimidation of both staff and students, and a whole load of other things that have been made known to those of us who are here.
But it’s Friday, I have a lunch date with a friend today, and then some fun plans for the weekend. Gym in the morning, errands and lunch in town, then meeting up with a friend for a local gig with two acoustic acts so that will be fun and a little bit different.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 70 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 94 and N.O.S. for the day. Today will be a day of high RDOS activities. Or should that be RDOS inactivities? There will be quality cee-mint pond time, sloth, nappage, and day drinkin’. Any need to feed will be via forage as there are leftovers that need to get et up as well as plenty of sammich makin’s and such. I decided to write a for real letter to new Priest and family instead of an email. OK, I typed the letter, as nobody wants to decipher my serial killer handwritin’. However I did hand address the envelop. I think a snail mail letter feels a little more personal when introducin’ oneself, or in this case, ourselves.
Cookie that was a good thing y’all did for those students. Plus bein’ flirted with. Nice to know ya still got it, right?
Lily Happy doperversary!
JtC too bad I’ve already written the letter and sealed the envelope or I could have written “like us our one of our imaginary internet friends will beat you with her cane.” Don’t blame you about the house sale. I am sure offers will be pourin’ in as soon as it’s listed again.
Coppertone glad you’re healin’ well. Appropriate/inappropriate appendages crossed re the job interview. Depends on the cake. If it has a cream cheese type frostin’ or is an actual cheesecake, it stays in da fridge. Other type cakes are fine as long as they are eaten in a reasonable time frame, say, a week.
BooFae glad the university has been able to get rid of the “peace camp.” When vandalization, harrassment, and intimidation come into play it is no longer a peaceable protest.
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day!
Happy Firday Y’all!
Really Don’t Offer Slime
Rotten Dogs Only Subtract
Raunchy Dads Object Strenuously
I give. What doe RDOS mean?
I am so tired this morning! Ugh. I’m just getting ready to forage for breakfast myself. Coppertone, I would probably store the cake in the fridge and let your piece come to room temperature each day before you eat it.
BooFae (and everyone else) have a good weekend!
Thank you! 22 years, woot, woot!
Boofae, I agree with Swampy’s assessment of the protest.
JtC, so do they lose their escrow?
Retired Drain On Society
Yeah, and it probably happened 5 or 6 years ago. Why would you not take advantage? Apparently since it was off to the side and didn’t interfere with his driving, it didn’t matter. Sheesh.
Nor have I, and I was a pall bearer for both of my grandparents. The men from the funeral home just took us all aside a few minutes before the service and told us what to do.
I hate waking up angry, especially because of a stupid dream! In this case, I was home (tho it wasn’t my house) trying to make mac-n-cheese but I kept measuring wrong. And all the while, my closest-in-age-to-me sister was cooking. Somewhere in her mess, I lost my box of mac-n-cheese - meanwhile, she prepared this huge meal for all our guests (where did they come from???) and left all the mess for me to clean up and all the leftovers for me to store, and she depleted my pantry!!! And I still couldn’t find the blue box!!
Then when I finally found the box, no one wanted to eat and no one wanted to help clean up, tho they tried and they kept doing it wrong!! I was furious when I returned to consciousness! I also wish I had a kitchen like the one in the dream.
I dozed off again and apparently decided to go back to work and my gummint job for reasons. And the boss was to be my first gummint boss, despite the fact that he died some time back. When I finally woke for good, it was 7AM and raining - YAY RAIN!!
I don’t know if it counts as sleeping in because I was awake between 3 and 4:30-ish from another dream that I don’t remember. All in all, it was a weird night, and I’m still residually angry.
FCD wants to go to the boat today to install the transformer panel. I kinda hope he’ll wait till tomorrow. But we’ll see.
If I can put him off, it’ll just be laundry day.
MetalMouse - you inspired me to do some research, and I discovered I should be eating 1200-1300 calories per day to lose and 1800-1900 to maintain at my goal. So I’m going to add more in the morning and at lunch and still try to avoid snacking at night. We’ll see how it goes. It was tough sorting thru the various sites to avoid the weirder ones. But I think I got some good info in the end.
And so my day begins. Yay for rain that’s supposed to continue into tomorrow. Boo for the guy who hasn’t answered me about the windshield - if he doesn’t answer my texts today, I’ll get someone else. Butthead.
Onward, ho! Happy Firday!!
i used a favourite cat nip toy to get her up on the tree. that worked a little bit. we will see how things go this weekend.
i think koritza will like it, she will be out of lager’s reach, and within my reach.
by the way, here is an article on west virginia earthquakes : When was West Virginia’s biggest earthquake? (msn.com)
i reckon west virginia will feel it should some of the bigger faults let loose. looking at you, new madrid.
They signed late last night, or they would have lost their earnest money. We should be getting our money in time to pay the loan off on this place before we have to make the first payment.
BFF is happy about the rain barrels, they are the big square ones in cages and the thick plastic is just discolored, they aren’t leaking or anything.
Yeah, that was new to me as well but I just figured it was something city folks do.
I got another couple of kitchen boxes unpacked last night and didn’t find my other plates. Hubs doesn’t remember them getting broken but also doesn’t have any idea what TC friend was doing in the kitchen while he was packing up his beer making supplies. I haven’t found the rest of our cutlery either.
I’m really considering ordering more from Amazon and just returning them when ours promptly show up, this is getting super annoying.

ewww do they make it better? we used to get it I’m the food baskets but even the stray cats refused it
It’s like Underwood Deviled Ham, but a lot cheaper. Not something I’d eat every day, but it’s available and fast.

They signed late last night
Mazel tov!
Morning all. Got an early start to the Firday shopping (well, after 8am but late for me) and then have been catching up on my You Tubing and fixing First Meal, so sorry for being the late one today. Firday looks a lot like the rest of the week has been, already 91F and heading to 96F. Outside of some more swimming, not much else on the agenda, was going to do a load of laundry and run the dishwasher but shopping pre-empted that so moved it to Saturday.
JtC, looked like the buyers pushed just a bit farther than they should have and once you threatened to close them out they made the deal fast. Glad things are going as planned and nice that you can get your WV place paid off without carrying a mortgage.
Flyboy, glad wife is going to see a Dr., sometimes what doesn’t get through when said by a loved one penetrates when a relative stranger suggests it. Has worked on me in the past. Stay cool. And sad to hear about the vet passing.
Coppertone, glad you’re doing better and maybe this interview will be the one. And cake does not last long enough in my presence to determine if refrigeration is good or not.
boo fae, glad things are settling down, and someone always takes it on the chin for long-term protests, she’s probably not the one who did the damages and harrassment, but she’s the one with her name on the papers so…
Sticky Buns, as another Retired Drain On Society (Trieste beat me to it), it’s something you can look forward too.
FCM, far as I can remember, the funerals I have been a pall-bearer in were like yours, you got briefed at the funeral home and advised when/where to move the casket. Don’t think I’ve ever woken up angry due to a dream, but I seldom remember them anyways, so just mellow out for the day. And I concur that finding information on the internet about calories requires a lot of looking around; I tried to figure out how many calories I was buring swimming 60-90 minutes backstroke and came up with 6-7 different numbers–just sort of went with the mean.
Alrighty then, the Southwest Chief has left LaPlata and the rest of my Firday vids have been watched, so will shortly done swim trunks and head off to the gym. Have a good afternoon/evening all.
I was in Smalls, wait, no, up to Secondary. The belts for the 100 and 200 Box Lines kept conking out. then when we burned through that mess, it was back to Smalls for 10min, then to the 100 Slide for 2min, then up to the Mez for 20, then down to the 300 Slide. Which was a mess, it took forever to process hundreds of smalls stuff that hadn’t been processed for…reasons. And somehow despite Preload now having 188 people(up from 153 a month ago), there’s no help, or at least no help that can do anything. Hence me bouncing around like a pingpool ball. But it’s not like I can’t use the money, and the heat keeps me from retaining water. It rained on me on the way to the car, but since both me and the clothing were on there way to be washed, it was little more than a pre wash rinse.

The only student to be named in the whole debacle is now facing a bill of £40-50K in court costs, plus she’s already the subject of a disciplinary action with the university over other illegal protests so I expect she’ll be getting booted out pretty soon.
She would have gotten in less trouble if she had merely started a good old fashioned riot.

I think a snail mail letter feels a little more personal when introducin’ oneself, or in this case, ourselves.
A short note that says We know where you live is always a good way to make a newcomer feel welcome.
HAPPY DOPERVERSARY SUSAN!!!

We should be getting our money in time to pay the loan off on this place before we have to make the first payment.
Yay, now Hubs will be ready for society to collapse!

And sad to hear about the vet passing.
I’m getting more information. Apparently her local doctors didn’t catch on that she had cancer, by the time she went to a hospital in Seattle, it was too late. She never came home. She died on June 29th. Someone said she’d closed her practice nine days earlier.
