(Old) Ain't gonna move no more in the MMP

The transformers are installed!!! It didn’t go exactly as planned, but nothing and no one got broken, so SUCCESS!! FCD still needs to wire the transformers to the boat - I think he’s going to try to do that tomorrow.

I just finished lunch and I’m about to start laundry. Rah. Rain continues RAH!!! I’ve stripped MIL’s bed and I need to strip ours too. So, yeah, fun afternoon ahead.

And we won’t end up homeless because we lost our home due to property taxes! We might not have water, power or food, but at least we won’t have to worry about how to pay our property taxes when the mail stops running.

He’s currently checking to be sure the power and water will be shut off today, he scheduled it last week but it never hurts to be sure. (We are still crabby with the buyers and don’t want to pay for it over the weekend. They will be leaving the doors open with the AC running in triple digit heat.) Both were shut off at close of business yesterday, so that’s done.

He didn’t want to trust the realtor to direct deposit the money into our account because of reasons, so the check will be over-nighted and deposited on Monday.

I think I’m gonna bust out some of the good weed now. He’s going to be bouncing off the walls until this place is paid off and I don’t want to have to kill him.

Come to think of it, there is a box of mead somewhere in the living room. Maybe I’ll go do some more box spelunking now.

Happy Cake Day @susan!

The ‘skid plate’ (the plastic panel under/behind the bumper) has been fixed, and the oil has been changed on my 19-year-old Prius. They also replaced a burnt-out license plate light. Wifey, RN just went out the door to see patients (two today), so we can pick the car up this afternoon. The rear brakes in the Prius are OK, but the front ones are close to needing replacement. The guy said they have a couple-thousand miles left on them. Also, the serpentine belt is starting to crack. He’ll send an estimate on those later.

It’s Friday, and what do I need to do? Irk, of course. I still need to sand the Seca II cowling. I think I’ll paint it tomorrow, so I may sand in the morning and paint in the afternoon. I don’t want to paint in the sun because I don’t want flying insects to say, ‘Oh, look! There’s a bright shiny yellow to land on!’ So I think I’ll move the MGB and the R1 out of the tent garage and paint in there. I said the exterior shades arrived yesterday. SWMBO asked yesterday, ‘Are you going to put those up tomorrow?’ Translated, that means ‘You’re going to put those up Friday.’ Gotta pick up the car, of course. I should shave, just in case we go out tonight.

Lunch break is over, and the shades are up. It should have taken 15 or 20 minutes. It took about 45 minutes.

My good ice machine has been delivered - two days before promised. I suspect Da Jungle does that so you’ll say “Wow! I got my stuff early!”

Anyway, it’s supposed to sit 2 hours to settle the refrigerant, then run it a bit to flush it out, then make good ice! I hope it works as promised.

Rain has stopped but we’re promised more tonight. It’s almost 5 and I don’t know what to do for supper. Guess I’ll feed Higgs then figure something out.

Last load of laundry is in the washer. I have bed linens but they’ll be washed tomorrow. Four loads today is enough.

I woke up a bit unsettled from dreams. Lots of grim, dreary, and a bit of weird, nothing rising to nightmare level, nothing that seemed to have much connection at all to my life in the waking world. There’ve been a couple of occasions I’ve awakened upset with DH over something he did in my dream, but I got over it once my brain was actually booted up.

Buddy got his morning mugging for meds, then I went back to bed, just got up not all that long ago (seem to be randomizing the sleep pattern again, dammit).

I’ve been playing with SiriusXM (we got a free three-month trial when we bought the Jeep), and turns out the app for the Fire Stick works nicely. Haven’t really tested the phone app in my car yet. So far, it’s nice to have some options I don’t with Amazon Music, but we’ll still need to figure out if it’s worth the cost to keep it. We shall see. We have time on that decision.

Today should be the last day of 100+ temps (roughly 37.8 for the Celsius users) for a week or so, but this is the central California valley in summer, so the IMO outrageous temps will be back.

The interview went well. He liked the hours I’m available and, as always, I was clear that making the customer happy is utmost.
He had 2 more interviews and said I would get a text or email with a link if hired. Between 4 and noon tomorrow, so everyone cross your appendages.

Fingers crossed coppertone!

Fingers crossed for coppertone!!

Howdy Y’all! RDOS have we been today! Quality cee-mint pond time, nappage, day drinkin’, noshin’ as the mood hit, and general overall uselessness. Fun times! In a bit it shall be Netflix, chill, and popcorn time. The good times just keep a rollin’!

MOOOOOOM you want a completely messed up kitchen? How weird!

Rocker I was near the New Madrid fault in December of 1990 for irk purposes. Some fool had predicted there would an earthquake between December first and fifth. I was there for three of those days and nary a tremble.

JtC yay for the closin’ on the AZ digs! Glad BFF is happy with the rain barrels. Mead and weed would be a great band name! Also, you deserve both.

You should write a book on etiquette.

Coppertone appropriate/inappropriate appendages crossed!

And a good early evening to you all. Did get my swimming in (mile and a half) and stopped at Kroger for some bread and a bag O’Salad, which got me over the 1,100 point mark for the month, so gas was $1.10/gallon cheaper. Filled up and came on home, used the Salad bag to make…a salad which has been consumed. Will probably eat more later tonight, but we’ll see.

95F outside, it doesn’t feel that hot but not staying outside long enough to test it. Even hotter weather (may make it to 100F) is due tomorrow. And we’re not even in August yet…

doggio, you are the Indispensable Man…which should worry you, since the bureaucratic mind in charge would probably like to let you go…

Great news! As long as they don’t develop into giant robots…

JtC, hope cutting the power early doesn’t come back to bite you, I understand completely why you are doing it, but…

“Divorce, never! Murder; possibly.”

flyboy, never owned a car for 19 years. The one I get next year (according to plan) when I’m 73 may be my last one, we’ll have to see how it goes. Hope the shades work as promised.

FCM, hope the ice is everything you expected and wish I had some of that rain, my yard is definitely looking rather thirsty.

Nettie, your dreams were unsettling and FCM’s made her angry; wish I could remember mine that well (at least the nice ones).

Coppertone, add me to the appendages-crossed list.

OK, need to clean around the kitchen a bit and then get down to the evening slothing. Take care all.

It stopped being our house at 8am WV time. The new owners are now responsible for cooling their home or not as they please. They are adult people who have already owned at least one house, they know how things work.

If they hadn’t pulled that last minute bullshit over the water tanks, we probably would have left it on over the weekend to allow them time to deal with it (because they hadn’t when Hubs checked this morning), but they had to play stupid games so now they won a stupid prize.

I know they are there now. They had a POD dropped in the driveway this morning and my spies are reporting that furniture is being moved.

My spies are all mad about the water tanks so are eagerly driving by and looking for signs of lights inside, but it’s not even 1700 yet and we wouldn’t have had the lights on in the living room either.

BFF Hubs called Hubs to talk about the rain water reclamation system we had because now that they have the expensive part, BFF thinks they need one so they can plant more trees and maybe even a clover patch.

We weren’t collecting enough rain to maintain our yard, but they have more roof area than we did so maybe it will work for them. BFF Hubs is a plumber so BFF thinks he should put gray water plumbing in and maybe buy another tank for that.

BFF Hubs sounded like he was having second thoughts about picking the tanks up.

Seconded! Happy Doperversary, Susan!

It’s the end of the week after a week-long trip and I am the lucky recipient of a midsummer cold, courtesy of my son. I haven’t had a fever in years, so I guess the statistics were working against me, but I’ve been dizzy and sweaty and freezing cold and generally wonky for the last 16 hours. This fever is irritatingly persistent, even with advil, but luckily it’s under 101. I managed to power through a couple of Very Important Meetings today when it was lower and I was feeling semi-normal then promptly wiped my calendar and went to bed. Looks like the husband unit will be taking the girl to her swim meet tomorrow at dark o’clock in the morning.

I’ve been relegated to a couch in our living room and this is truly the most time I’ve had to myself in months, so I suppose I shouldn’t complain. There is always a silver lining.

I’m so sorry to hear about the passing of the vet, flyboy. What a terrible shock!

With Sirius, you can get decent deals if you play the game right. We’ve got it for one vehicle as well as our smart speakers and computers for something under $8/month. Supposedly when this term is up, it’ll go to twenty-something a month, but I call a bit ahead of time and tell them I’m going to cancel unless they continue the lower price, and they always do. plus it can be done via chat, so I don’t even have to speak with anyone!

We wound up going to Cracker Barrel. MIL wanted to get a veggie plate for BIL because she still treats him like he’s 8. Granted, he’s not eating right - mostly subsisting on pretzels - but he’s 64 years old and she needs to accept that his decisions, for all that they suck, are his. But I’m not getting involved. not my circus… FWIW, I got a grilled chicken salad. They no longer do a chef’s salad, alas.

Windshield guy will be here around 10 tomorrow. I’m going to put the Elantra in the garage in case it rains so he can change it in there. I need to get BIL to sign the bill of sale tomorrow and I need to pick up wiper blades for the Elantra. Then on Moanday, it’ll go back to the shop to get the inspection signed off so Daughter can register it on Firday.

I’m going to mess with the new ice machine tomorrow. I’m too tahred to deal with it tonight. At least the laundry is all done.

I got the 2005 Prius used in Autumn, 2013. But I did buy my Jeep Cherokee new in early-1999; so it’s 25 years old. I got my stolen-and-recovered-trashed 1994 Yamaha XJ600 Seca II that I’m resurrecting new in June of 1994. I bought my 2002 Yamaha YZF-R1 new in Summer 2003.

Too late to edit:

Smuggler’s Tunnel for dinner tonight. Mrs. L.A. ate half (3) of her potstickers with teriyaki sauce. I ate a salad and almost half of my Tower Burger. The Tower Burger has two 8-ounce patties, so it’s not something to eat in one sitting. I didn’t quite cut it in half, and I ate the smaller half – except for the two or three bites of it The Missus wanted. I had two Hemingway daiquiris. Wifey had one, and then a Tipsy Mermaid. (I took a sip. It was too sweet, and tasted like a piña colada.) I’m having a ginnentonicanice now, because the tonic’s not cold.

I napped. It stormed. I’m having a Negroni, and cioppino for dinner.

They rebooted my 3 moths free trial, so I signed up for the $5/month. I’ll follow your advice in 12 months(it is kinda nice to roll out of the lot on Saturday to some Jimmy Buffett.

That’s why I’m in the Union.

Nelson took a spell where he would bury half carrots in the bed. When I would change sheets, I’d find them in varying stages of decay.

Good! When you get those lesions taken care of pronto, the healing time is minimal with low pain levels.

They also won’t fall over if an 18# cat jumps up to the top.

Yay!

Made it to Dad’s ok yesterday and we’re having a good visit. We got the annual breaded tenderloins for lunch today and now I’m fixing to go to bed. Read most, but retained only some.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

I’ve just been reminded that the non-profit I work for turned 125 years old. (I haven’t been there that long, despite my appearance.)

Thank you so much for sharing your build journey. It’s so cool how Lego set up the build to follow the historical development. I’m very impressed how fast you did it - I would be tempted to leave it in certain states for a while.

I hope all is going well.

I do enjoy the Nelson stories. You finding carrots in bed makes me happy I don’t have a dog. But he’s smart - he hid them well.

Need to go take my shower (could just go outside as its raining again, but the neighbors might say something) and get choring.
