(Old) Dark Skies in the MMP

Same, and agreed!

We also ate at Chada Thai, walked around Blaine a bit, and visited a friend in BC.

Would it help to heat the oven for a few minutes, empty, then turn it back off & put in the herbs? That way it starts a bit warmer, but not crispy-hot.

Chada Thai has the best Thai food in town. Had some take-out from there a couple of weeks ago.

You should try Namaste The Royal Taste of India up on D Street.

EXCELLENT word!

I’ve used BBQ sauce in place of ketchup in meatloaf - quite yum.

We’re back from the boat, via Aldi, CVS, and the car wash. We’ve had sammiches and now it’s time to chill. FCD wants wings for supper, so I pulled some out to thaw. I’m not sure what I’ll have - maybe I’ll just scramble some eggs. Or eat yesterday’s leftovers.

Plenty of time to decide.

I’ll put it on the list for the next trip up!

Happy Sunday, everyone! At 12:50pm it’s partly sunny and 83°F, on its way to a forecasted high of 88. Temps will hit the 90s the rest of the week, including triple-digit heat indices Wednesday and Thursday. Meh. At least on Tuesday it will finally be September, with the promise of fall weather!

I woke at 6:45am but then managed to doze until almost 8:00, and am amazed by how much time I was able to spend doing random things on the computer once I was up and about! Both downloading and uploading some photos, emailing my property manager, paying half of my rent, etc. (I’ll pay the other half tomorrow: my rent just exceeds Zelle’s daily transfer limit, so I make two transfers each month). I thought for sure I’d be all done and Mumped and downstairs well before noon, but here I am.

After the last episode of Black Books I decided to start binge-re-watching How I Met Your Mother. I’m actually equal-opportunity when it comes to dramas vs comedies, but I’d re-watched a lot of my favorite dramas more recently. HIMYM is a good one for bingeing, and it’s been long enough since the last time that I don’t immediately remember the details of all of the side stories.

I have no Lego sets to build today (:open_mouth:), but it turns out that I am still feeling hermit-y: so, instead of going to Bricks & Minifigs this afternoon I’ll just do some reading until I feel like moving to the TV room. I enjoyed I’m Not The Only Murderer In My Retirement Home (I’m Not The Only Murderer At This Wedding will be out in February!), so I decided to try another by the same author: a parody “thriller” called Once Upon a Crime. I downloaded a sample to my Kindle last night, but only made it a few pages in.

My only other plan for today is to do laundry at some point, and play another thrilling round of “Will The Washer Randomly Give Up Halfway Through The Cycle?”

Work will be busy tomorrow, which will be good but also somewhat annoying because I’ll need to rely on others to update documents, connect to Teams meetings, etc. I’ve already made all needed arrangements, but there won’t really be anything I can do at my desk: I’ll be at other people’s desks and in conference rooms all day. Which will be exhausting. I’m hoping to have my laptop returned and network access restored by the end of the week… :crossed_fingers:

Nice photos! For the millionth time, though, I had to look up the difference between seals and sea lions. :joy:

(spoiler: it’s the ears: sea lions have earflaps, seals just have earholes)

I completed such a task a few weeks ago, but I think another Mumper also did and beat me to it…?

Ugh! :crossed_fingers:

I did exactly that. It probably got up to about 150 or less, and then I turned it off and left the door open so moisture could escape.

Concur, and I thank the MMP for adding it to my personal vocabulary.

Thoughts & prayers.

I bet your kitchen smelled heavenly.

Whelp, I have { checks timer } eleven minutes to finish snacking, brush my teeth, and head off.

One of the crew, who was supposed to close again tonight, was in rough shape last night - sports injury flaring up - and I overheard contingency plans were already being made.

So we’ll see how tonight goes.

But I have a vanilla yogurt, a mini guacamole cup, and the last of the smoked Gouda from the nice deli a few blocks away, all stashed in the walk-in and awaiting me. Plus an insta-mashed potato cup, and one of those sip-cups of soup Campbell’s makes, stashed somewhere in my car.

ETA: seven minutes till countdown. At least I’m already dressed.

Update: I also have a small tray of frozen dumplings, and a cup of strawberry insta-oatmeal. I’m SET for snax.

I’ve also just been dispatched to Gordon Food Service for six (6) tomatoes, because I guess there was a communication oopsie with mngmt. and we need 'em for sammiches.

BRB gotta shop for Da Boss.

Dinner dined upon and calories mostly sweated, so changing to my swim suit and going to sit in the whirlpool for awhile. At least I’ll have a good excuse for some more ice cream.

Life in the air fryer continues. The trees have started shedding their leaves due to heat stress and lack of water. It looks like fall in some places because there are so many dead leaves on dead grass.

With out running around all day yesterday and today, I am pooped. The heat just saps any energy. I’ve taken tomorrow off work and will do laundry in the morning, before the garage gets unbearably hot again. Watching some Apple TV with the cats is the plan for the evening.

Taters good luck with electrician. Hopefully it’s a fairly easy fix, but it does sound like it needs to be looked at.

Cookie there isn’t much that’s more disappointing than bad biscuits and gravy. When it’s done well, it is a deceptively delicious meal. You may have seen it already, but this video of British kids trying biscuits and gravy for the first time is really funny.

shoe good luck tonight! Hopefully they are staffed properly tonight.

Howdy Y’all! I deheathenated twice and came home to burgers and fries from Jack’s. I called OYKW as I was leavin’ the church house, to let him know. He ordered on the app and had actually just pulled into the garage when I got to da cave, so perfect timin’! I managed an hour nap and then went back to the church house for my three p.m. group. It was another good session. Been home for a while chillaxin’ with some stoopid teevee. OYKW is upon the bed watchin’ one of his crime shows. I shall see whatup on teh intartoobz for a bit. I think it will be an early bedtime tonight cause I feel a little tahrd.

I cleaned, dusted and vacuumed. I scooped Spot’s box. I took out the trash and recycling. I napped. Spot mostly napped through the day. The last load of laundry is in the dryer, and the poke loin and baked **N.O.T.**s are in the oven I’m having a Wisconsin Old Fashioned.
I do uses ketchup as a base for my meatloaf, but I add things to tone the sweetness down(Liquid Smoke, smoked Paprika, red wine).

I can’t wait till Fat Bear Week.

Yeah, it’s gonna be hideous heaving this week. And worse for the drivers.

Indeed.

When you’re a Small Egyptian God, it’s hard to not be photogenic.

< crosses fingers >

So say we all.

Well there was a 2.6 quake on the other end of Texas…

Can you order just 6 individual, or is the the inverse of the math problem?

I hadn’t been tracking that there might be a storm tonight, but a few minutes ago there was thunder! And lightning! And now there’s heavy rain! I can’t see much of outside from the TV room (I keep the vertical blinds closed, and can only see a tiny little bit of sky through the window on the other side of the fireplace), but I went upstairs and spent a few minutes looking out of both the weird little octagonal window in the master bedroom – from which I can most easily see the sky – and the big windows on the main level.

(I’ve always loved storms, but for 17 years I felt guilty about loving them because Bailey hated them…and now [two weeks from the first anniversary of her death] I feel a little sad about being able to love them again. Ya know?)

Anyway, I spent the afternoon reading. It was kinda nice. I wound up bailing on the parody thriller: the style was amusing for a few chapters, but then it got old…and then it got really old. I deleted it off my Kindle before I even finished the sample (which is why I always get samples before buying a book). I started reading a David Baldacci book that I’d downloaded a while ago, and I liked that one enough to buy it at the end of the sample. It’s the second book in the 6:20 Man series.

Now it’s 8:26pm and I’m hanging out in the TV room, watching How I Met Your Mother and eating cookies while my laundry is in the dryer. For those playing along at home, the washer actually made it all the way through a “normal” cycle this evening! Woo hoo! I’ll probably head upstairs in about an hour, to put the laundry away and then read a little more before going to sleep.

Not sure I’ll be able to Mump tomorrow, but I’m hoping to jump into the new thread on Tuesday…everyone enjoy the rest of Sunday night, and have a good Monday!

I’m binging The Bob Newhart Show on prime. It hasn’t aged badly at all.

Daughter’s washer won’t drain and spin. I suggested she Google it. We’ll see how that goes.

And now, I think I’ll head for bed. Doing nothing is exhausting!

'Scrip is picked up and the first dose taken. I messed around with inks this evening. I don’t do as much stamping as paper piecing and this was a layering stamp set, so it was experimental.

Evening all. Back from the gym and calories re-added to the account, so will head off to bed in an hour or so to get ready to face the new week.

Time for the last scroll of the week that was, so 3…2…1…

Bright Tree, thanks for the thought, but I guess I’ll manage with Apple Cinnamon Cheerios (found out they really exist) and the weekly pecan sticky bun to take care of my munchies. Trust that Ollie had a ball with the kids.

Nut, happy flower planting.

Taters, hope the electrician can find a not-to-costly solution to your issue, because I did have a lot of rewiring done and yes, it is quite expensive.

Mollie, believe me, I know about sports suffering…I am a life-long Cleveland Browns fan…

Oopsie, your weather sounds a lot like mine this week. I can remember as a little kid watching thunderstorms and lightning with my parents from the front porch…haven’t done that for awhile.

Shoe, only six tomatoes? Figured you would need more than that.

52, I love Josh and Ollie (You Tube channel JOLLY) and watching them eat (or feed other folks) all kinds of food. Try to catch them every week.

doggio, take care and no heat exhaustion/stroke at work this week.

Red, hope the pills work good for ya.

And that’s all I got. Catch all y’all on the next MMP.

Well, I tried seeing if either of these were currently on my PBS. When I entered them on the remote, what came up was an option to subscribe. I clicked it and the screen went to black. Oh well.

doggio I discovered Fat Bear Week a couple years or so ago. I think it’s a lot of fun. Although, I missed it last year as I didn’t see a notice as to when it started. So, if you wouldn’t mind giving me a headsup as it starts, I’d appreciate it. :slightly_smiling_face:

The girls gifted me 2 :egg: :egg: this morning. Then I stopped at the office and printed all the documents needed for Th, Fr & Sat transactions, then prepared the entry and completed recording Thursday. Since tomorrow is last day of month, this will make it a little easier to get the rest of the month recorded by the 11:30 deadline.

Since the mass intention today was in Dad’s memory, I decided to dress up, including pantyhose, dress, and curled my hair. Asked daughter to arrive at least 5-10 minutes before mass; she walked in as the priest was processing up the aisle; oh well. She pointed out that at least when the mass intention was announced that Dad’s name was pronounced correctly this year. Afterward we chatted for a bit in the church hall then she had to leave for a prior engagement.

Hubs and I then went to BF daughter’s house to pick up several delivered packages and the mail (they left on Thursday). I’ll drop it all off at BF’s house tomorrow morning. BF and her daughter left Chicago yesterday and flew to Oregon, well actually Seattle, then they were going to drive to Oregon. BF’s daughter is a travel nurse and she did several contracts in Oregon and loves it there. She wants BF to move there with her. I think it will happen, probably later than sooner. BF is still dealing with a lot after her husband passed in February.

Then Hubs & I went to Hungarian Rhapsody Restaurant. It’s not that close to our house so we only started going there when Hubs had to have bone marrow biopsies done at the hospital that is even farther away. Hungarian Rhapsody is on the way between our house and the hospital. Once they wanted to schedule one of the biopsies on a Monday but Rhapsody is closed on Mondays so Hubs declined that appointment. When we sat down, Hubs mentioned that it had been quite a while since we’d been there and my reply was that yes, you haven’t had a biopsy in over 2 years. Hubs had pickerel and I had Hungarian Ghoulosh which came with fruit filled crepes for dessert. I also had a glass of piesporter and it really went to my head. When we got home, I laid down and first scrolled on my phone then fell asleep with the phone in my hand.

Well, it was a day. I’m yawning like a hippopotamus and will struggle to stay up for much longer.

Congrats on the bulb score, Nut! It will be so beautiful at your place next spring!

Taters, we’re looking forward to rain starting on Wednesday. I can hardly wait, too. Thanks for the kind wishes re the pond. I haven’t dared go look again yet. It’s still very iffy, though I think we did figure out how the leak developed. I hope everything goes as well as possible re your wiring concerns. As you say, if it’s not one damn thing, it’s another, with home maintenance. You have my sympathy! More on Ollie’s visit with the kids shortly.

cookie, sorry the biscuits and gravy were so sad. I can understand your disappointment, because you always said that was one thing they did well. Good luck with herb dehydration.

Oopsie, I think it actually was you who inspired the toilet seat change. No matter who it was, it was sure a nice job to accomplish. I don’t use that loo for much except middle-of-the-night bio breaks, but at least the seat doesn’t slide around on me from wear anymore. So thank you for providing the impetus!

shoe, I am happy you are so well provisioned for another nutty night at work! You do have the snax thing down.

52, I could not live where you live. Smart, taking a day off work when it’s that miserable!

Sounds like you had a pretty nice day, swampy. Sleep well!

True.

That makes perfect sense to me. :people_hugging:

Yes. Well.

I subscribed to OPB/PBS via my computer, and after I did, it explained exactly how to set up the app on my tee vees. I consider it the best $20 I spend every month, in terms of excellent entertainment value. I think you can pledge as little as $5.00/month. They’re just grateful to have a reliable source of income these days. Re both shows, the stories are thin and a little schlocky. In One Step from Heaven, there’s a horse that’s made to gallop everywhere it goes, the primary actors are constantly hugging each other and covering each other up with bedding. But dayum, that scenery!! I’ll never get tired of that!

Your Hungarian feast sounds drool-worthy!

So Pond Guy and Fam came and did their thing with the pond. We’ll see how it goes this time. It appears this may be an ongoing process for awhile. I loved his wife and kids. The kids are 3 boys, names of Reef, Sandin and Cove. They were so well mannered and thrilled to have a run around on a rural property. They loved Ollie, who repaid their attentions by whizzing all over their shoes. We were fortunately outside and they were understanding. They did tire Ollie out – yayy! His wife brought me a very nice bar of her handmade soap. They loved the cinnamon rolls, and that made me happy. Then they were off to attend Pond Guy’s grandpa’s 102nd birthday celebration. (!!!) I expect I’ll see more of them even after the pond is fixed. Always a pleasure to meet nice people.

I’m looking forward to a quieter day tomorrow, though.

Have great nights, everyone! I’m very shortly off to bed. Delightful as they were, they tired me out, too!

That sounds like a wonderful Sunday afternoon! Hope the fix takes a couple of more visits, just to make sure it is holding.

I am not looking forward to the coming week at work. A flakey artist subcontractor theoretically is installing some stuff. I have zero confidence this will go well.

Oh well, I ain’t in charge, I’m just the dude that has to make it work-ish.
