(Old) Did Everybody Retire In The MMP?

Today’s interview was very short. Let’s just say that and move on. I wasn’t what they wanted and they weren’t what I wanted.

Currently eating a salted caramel cookie from Arby’s and contemplating a nap. I slept horribly last night, so it would be good to catch up some.

{{{nellie}}}

I got a call back and am going in after I get shot. I think the eye is a little better already. Yay for prednisone drops!

The nurse said, “But you were just here a couple of weeks ago, and it was fine!” Yes, ma’am, it was. I’ll give it a good talking-to.

I’m leaving in a few minutes to walk to the bus depot. The nurse said to expect a very long wait, as they’re booked solid, so it may well be this evening before I report in.

Thanks again for all the well wishes!

Nellie fingers and other appendages crossed. Please let us know when you know.

Ursala Kitteh and I would hire you in a New York minute to cat sit. Would a twice daily drive to Northern Illinois be too far for you???

My favorite ‘gourmet’ commercial cookie. I’ve been resisting since the price was jacked up beyond reason. Now you’ve awoken the beast…

wow! that is amazing. i really like the star material.

good luck nellie! i’d rather hang out at the doctor’s office than fret at home.

Yeah. It’s much more important that they don’t recall any interactions than that I don’t.

I heard that slang from my brother a long time ago. Evidently it was USN standard commentary about shipboard food. I know you were Navy; was he?

Drove from Portland to Seattle this morning to volunteer for Norwescon. Because of the house fire, when I hit the dealers room I don’t have to ask “I wonder if I already have that?”

I certainly do hope you are right. I will be worrying with everyone else and wishing for the best.

I tried to sell them in the school newspaper. The ad said something like “Useless little sisters for sale, make offer.” Mom had to be the one to “talk” to me about it because Dad went out and hid in the garage when he heard. I’m pretty sure he had a bottle out there, he did have four teen-aged daughters after all.

Not yet, but I’m hearing encouraging things at the rec center about it.

Mrs Harry is in a church quilting group. She’s invited me to join, but not being a church going kind of person, I don’t think I’d fit in as well as she hopes.

Becky, the cross stitching lady I met yesterday came back today with her project and we had a nice stitch and natter session. Or we would have if it wasn’t so busy, there were customers all the time and most of them actually bought things.

Boss’s dad came in with some lovely live ferns, one of which followed me home.

I’ve always loved Boston Ferns, but they don’t do well in the desert and I gave up after I killed the third one. Hopefully this one will do better with higher humidity levels.

I agree, I’d sign her on in a heartbeat.

I’m glad that she is feeling a little better, some cats just take more time than other do. She’ll come around eventually.

Oh, that’s great. I’m glad MusicMan had someone to chat with about music stuff even if he did stay up too late.

How fun, thanks for posting it!

Mom goes to Stitch and Sip meetings, that’s what I really want to get started. A little wine to loosen the lips and all of the tea will be spilled

That is beautiful work and your color choices are fantastic as usual. I also like the forest colored star.

I’m glad you found out fast instead of wasting a bunch of time first.

I’m glad you are able to find some sort of silver lining and hope you find something super cool.

Sends more good thoughts **nellie’**s way before getting dinner started.

Yesterday, my dear wife had a huge day on Poshmark, and sold a lot of stuff. So, today, she’s been scurrying around putting sold goods into empty boxes from the mound of them in the garage that I call Scenic Mount Christy. It’s now nearly 5:00pm, and she’s rushing to the post office.

I have a red rubber clown nose, and I’m going to give it to my 3-year old grand-nephew, if it’s okay with his parents. I think I ought to ask them. You never know how a thing like that will influence a little boy’s life.

Good heavens, nelliebly, please get well soonest! Of all the things that can go wrong with the human machinery, I think I fear blindness the most. I’ve crossed all my fingers, and all 9 of my toes. As you might imagine, it’s tricky to type with all that going on.

I need to go take a shower. Be well, be safe, and don’t forget to be You.

nellie too have appendages crossed for you to get good news.

My gig at the museum got extended, they’re not ready to hire me full time yet. Totally understandable, we just had 2 grants cancelled. But they seem to like having me there and I’m set through June anyway. We’ll see what happens after that.

Fingers and toes crossed for nellie!

pilot - FCD and I were both in the Navy - we met at NAS Jax.

We keep passing Trump stores all over the place! We also pass a gazillion dispensaries. Might there be a connection?

We had a fun day on Ober Mountain, until after we left and I discovered my Visa was missing. Dammit. I called their lost-and-found so I’m waiting to hear back before calling the Credit Union. I have a notification set to inform me of any charge over $20, so I’m not excessively worried. Yet.

Dammit.

Crap. What a PITA, I hope you just stashed it somewhere else in your purse (that you have probably torn apart at least three times by now).

There used to be trump stores all over purple AZ, but here in super red WV? I haven’t seen a single one and we are out and about on a regular basis. I haven’t seen any trump trucks (flag covered coal rollers) either. Strange.

So yesterday the “arm” on my glasses fell off, the hinge broke and I doubt they can be repaired. I haz a sad about that I really liked those frames. So, I’m wearing my old pair which are OK, but I can tell that the script is off. (I have an appointment on next Friday, but if I don’t get deported this Saturday, I might find a lens crafters while I’m at the capital just so I can get my updated script sooner.)

Today my swimming earpods showed up and I cannot read the instructions. I can tell that there are words on the paper, but that’s as good as it gets when they use size 1 font to save on ink. I am being too stubborn to copy and enlarge them, but that might have to happen if I get too impatient.

So, I was just checking in to see if nellie had come back with good news before going back to my stitching.

Up from naptime, watching hockey(the coach’s son and the son of one of the players who won The Cup in 2006 are playing tonight), and having a martini.

“Nails” because the one loader has 4" artificial nails. While working in a warehouse.
And the boxline revolving carts are colored Red, White, Blue, Yellow, and Green, with 3 36"x36"x60" cages(Top, Middle, Bottom)

Cool!

< continues crossing fingers >

< crosses extra fingers >

Dammit.

I friggin hate that. And I seem to be encountering it much more often lately. Could be because my eyes are getting worse, could be because they’re printing shit smaller. I had to read the various disclaimers of a tube of fairly toxic sealant today…even with the bifocals I had to use an additional magnifier. My less, shall we say sight impaired, co-workers couldn’t read it either.

Fully agree on most of what the world is throwing at us.

And a good early evening to all. Swimming was swum, gym was gymed, and weights were lifted, so a good workout for the afternoon. Just finished my Chee-burger and may grab a pudding cup or two for dessert, then get the garbage and recycle bins out to the curb. The evening will be for sloth.

Forget it, he’s rolling…

Sticky Buns, disappointing, but it’s good you knew it wasn’t a good fit, saved you (and them) potential aggravation.

nellie, hope things went well for you.

JtC, hope the fern likes its new home. And sorry to hear about the glasses, I try to get two pairs of my current prescription as a ‘just-in-case’ pair.

Knots, Hooray for wife becoming a business success. And a 3-year old and a red clown nose…sounds like a match made in heaven..or hell, depending if your the parent or not…

Wet one, glad you got extended, maybe things will settle down some and that full-time position will be yours.

FCM, hope the card can be recovered. And no Trump stores (that I can see) here in N. Ali-bama.

And that’s all from here as dusk rapidly approaches. More maybe later.

JtC my mother had something of a green thumb and she also loved Boston ferns. She would mist them on a regular and we were to avoid touching them because touch makes the tips turn brown. She said back in the olden days (she was born in 1921) people would be laid out on the dining room table instead of in the funeral parlor and the table would be surrounded by Boston ferns.

My busted hand is slowly turning lovely shades of purple. I Visited Ariel today and gave her lots of kiss kisses on her nose, It’s a beautiful night for riding a horse, but sadly I can’t.

I missed the final verdict on your hand. Fracture or sprain?

Appendages crossed.

That block looks well aligned and the fabric choices are gorgeous.

Are there instructions online?

Went to my PCP for a follow up. Not only did the horsepistol totally mess up my meds, they didn’t get anything except the x-rays to the PCP office and in four days never did get a diagnosis. He was as pissed as I was. Fortunately, he’s hooking me up with an orthopedic place here in town for an MRI. He suspects a degenerated disc to the point of bone on bone. Meanwhile, he sent me home with some muscle relaxers, some lidocaine patches and a 10 day pack of steroids (I’m going to have to take a lot more insulin with those). I also got the paperwork for a temporary handicap placard, which Sis will take me to the DMV to get.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Surprised to pop in here on Wednesday evening to find fewer than 100 posts. Even so, I’ve admittedly only skimmed and retained little. I’m borrowing this:

I’m working at a NASA assembly facility this week, which is pretty cool, and it’s a relatively easy job. But our daily start time is 6:00 am, which means I’m getting up at 4:30, which is actually 2:30 in my home time zone, so I’ve been getting a bit spacy by the end of the day. (No pun intended! I crack myself up!)

The job is tantalizingly close to New Orleans, but we are hoteling in the opposite direction where it’s… slightly less interesting. Still, it’s not like I’m about to go out partying on Bourbon Street every night even if I could. Gotta get up and make those donuts.

The good news is that my flight home on Friday is several hours later than everyone else’s. And, since we’re coming back next week we’ve arranged for the hotel to store our luggage.

Therefore, the current plan is for the team to take the one rental car (of which I’m not the driver) down to one of my favorite N’awlins joints for an early lunch. The others will then head on to the airport, leaving me a solid four hours to wander the French Quarter with only a light backpack before needing to grab an Uber for my own flight. I am happy with this arrangement.

Anyhow, I’ll be sure to keep tabs on all you fine Mumpers even if I’m not quite in a state of mind to participate much. Enjoy the week!

I discovered I can lock my VISA and unlock it at will. It’s locked. I’ll unlock it when we need it then relocked it. Even if it turns up, I should probably order a replacement since someone could have copied all the info before turning it in. But it can wait till we get home.

Stoopit credit cards.
