(Old) Did Everybody Retire In The MMP?

As a former server and a current part of a gaggle with one of those people, I’m going to chime in with or both.

Well, I got about 5 hours of good, uninterrupted sleep. When I woke up to answer Ma Nature, I couldn’t get comfy enough to go back to sleep, so I’m up until the pain pill kicks in.

TTYL

I’ve only met the Fussy Twins once, I’ve not eaten with them, and am relying on GF’s descriptions. But my vote is mostly "whiny spoiled entitled brat, with a side order of ‘I love to make the servants dance’. " Or, more succinctly, assholes.

As I told GF, had I ever dated either of them, the second time they sent food back over a trifle I’d have walked out, never to return. Shame if I’d driven us to wherever; they can uber home.

Happy early morning to all! Now about 90 minutes predawn the sky is dark while Venus is up and brilliant. It’s a cool 70/21 & breezy outside with a predicted day of sunny topping out at 82/27. So no pre-dawn balconatin’ unless I bundle up.

Caffinatin’ is in full swing and laundry has been started. The day will have more laundry, maybe a DIY chore, a nap, and the evening will be going out to geezer disco w GF followed by a sleepover. This’ll be our first danceable music outing so we’ll see how that part goes.

Cheers and onwards; for just now the laundry beeps insistently and we must obey our machine overlords lest the taunt us again.

The talk of sending food back reminds me of my favorite Italian restaurant back in SF. We always tipped well and the waiters and owner knew us.

One night, I ordered one of the off-menu specials, a rolled pork tenderloin/cheese/spinach contraption that sounded really good. When it arrived, it was smothered in a giant heaping pile of mushrooms. I’m not allergic, but I loathe mushrooms.

Even then, I was going to scrape them off and just deal with it, but the waiter must have seen the look on my face and asked if anything was wrong. “It’s OK, I just didn’t know it came with mushrooms,” I replied. Without my even asking, he insisted on taking it back and having it remade sans fungus. And it was delicious.

I guess my point is that consistently treating people well can have its benefits. I’m quite certain nobody spit in my remade dish, just as I’m betting the Fussy Twins have ingested the expectorations of a chef or two in their time. (Not that I condone that!)

Woke just before 4 - not exactly sure why, but the little fridge in the room was extremely loud. The next time it cycled, it wasn’t as bad. Only one more night here.

FCD said he fell out of bed last night. Guess he’d slept too close to the edge. I didn’t hear it and that worries me. This whole trip has me worried about him. He continues to blame himself for not doing enough for his parents, as if he could have kept old age from taking them. I do wish we’d put this trip off for another year…

Anyway, the plan for our last day is the Bush’s Bean museum and Cafe for lunch. We need to clean out the car, too, and pack. It’s been fun for the kids, but I’m more than ready to go home. This area is waaaaaaaay too touristy. Thankfully, it’s not tourist season or it would be torture.

And that’s the too-early start to my day. Happy Thursday!

Good morning, all!

I am an extremely picky eater, but I can’t remember the last time that I sent food back. I can’t imagine making a habit of it.

Today we’re getting an estimate on waterproofing the basement. This is the estimate that will probably be very high, but also most worth the cost. I mean, we’re dealing with an extremely old space with mostly dirt floors. It’s just going to be me here talking to the person, so I made sure to take notes on what MusicMan wanted to know. I’ll report back in with today’s total!

ETA: This will be my first trip to the basement since the Great Knee Adventure began. It shall be interesting to see how that goes.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and already caffeinated, so not yawny. Woke up earlyish, so decided to caffeinate on the back porch in the early mornin’ chill and quiet. ‘Tis 48 Amurrkin out and partly cloudy with a predicted high of 80 and N.O.S. I need to fill most of the candles this mornin’ over to the church house. We shall then be bears who brunch at Eggs Up. We will return to da cave and be our RDOS selves until it’s time to head over for the Maundy Thursday service at six p.m. This will be loooooong as this includes foot washin’ (not my feet as I don’t like havin’ my feet touched, ick!), the Eucharist, an Agape supper, and the strippin’ of the Altar. Also included is the settin’ up of the Altar of Repose for the reserved Sacrament in the Little Chapel and the placin’ of said Sacrament on the Little Chapel Altar. We do carry on!

Now I need to purtify and don attire acceptable for bein’ amongst the great unwashed. How I suffer for my public!

Happy Thursday Y’all!

Yesterday I called Roto Rooter for a bathroom sink that defied all of my efforts with drain cleaner and plunger, along with the laundry room drain, which has needed to be snaked out about every year and a half or so since we bought the house. The laundry room went as easily as it always does. The bathroom sink however took them almost four hours to clear. It was a blockage in the stack that needed to be snaked from the basement up.

I have working drains after five hours and almost eight hundred dollars…

Morning all. Moved my car out to the curb, as both the HVAC and TruGreen people are due sometime today. Was a bit tricky, both garbage and recycleables are due for pickup and had to park so the trucks can pick up my stuff and still get around to get the next houses bins. Soccer practice at 5:30pm, so hope the folks get here in the Ay-Em. Only 49F now but heading to 81F according to the Weather Wizards with a 12% chance of rain.

One ‘Doh!’ moment already. After moving my car I tried to close the garage door and it wouldn’t work; just clicked. Even went out to my car outside and tried the opener there with no luck. Finally occurred to me to check the door clearance and a rag had fallen and covered one of the lights that shows things are clear of the door. So problem solved with a little thinking (and it took some time to do a little thinking).

Hmmm, busy (30 posts) 12 hours, best be about it…

red, the hospital paperwork will probably show up today after you’ve been booked elsewhere. Sounds like you have a pretty responsible PCP.

Wheelie, enjoy New Orleans. But not too much…

flyboy, sounds like a pretty perfect Date Night.

nellie, still keeping my fingers crossed that this treatment works for you. And while I don’t think I’ve done the inside out shirt I have put them on backwards and have been known to wear two different color shoes in my life. And weird thing on the bus; hope you’re not called on to testify someday…

Don’t think I’ve ever sent food back, I tend to be a medium eater (if it’s cooked medium I’ll eat it), slow service or someone being seated after me and getting service first is what gripes me.

boo fae, sounds like Muffin is beginning to adapt. And yay! for the surprise flowers.

Wheelie, even just being polite to the waiters/staff pays off. I ordered a steak at Longhorn’s once medium well and it showed up nearly rare. I mildly pointed this out to the waiter and asked if he could have the cook put it back on the grill for a couple of minutes, no big deal. Instead I got a new steak and dinner comped by the manager, which i had not expected. Did make a regular customer out of me however and never had an issue again.

FCM, hope FCD does well, in body and soul. Safe travels home tomorrow.

Sticky Buns, been decades since I had a basement. Hope the estimate is mind-blowing.

hippie, glad the plumbing works but it ain’t ever cheap (believe me, I know).

And that gets me to the bottom of the posts. Time to break fast with a big Bowl of Cheerios and resume waiting for the workforce to show. Have a good Thorsday all.

CT is scheduled for this afternoon and ortho follow up is Monday. This means I get to go to Culver’s for lunch today and have a walleye sandwich. Regarding insurance approval. Being a RDOS, I have Medicare. I know from past experiences it takes about 48 to 72 hours to get approval then the doctors office has to call. So I’m OK with it. I’m just glad the official ball is rolling. My plan was total sloth today but now I actually have to wash my hair and get dressed and go out. Oh the humanity.

Shame you have to go out, but you do get a walleye sandwich out of it. So there’s some comfort in your ordeal.

Up for realz this time. Breakfasted, caffeinating and waiting for a call from the ortho place.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Vegemite toasties for me.

I suffer from “A.M. Angst”, where I wake up in the middle of the night with the sweats, anxiety and morbid thoughts. It sometimes takes two or three hours before I can fall asleep again, and so I typically stay in bed 'till 10:00 or so to get whatever additional sleep I can.

Got up, got paschal haircut, breakies, stopped at the pharmacy, now onto the paschal cleaning. Saw 2 hawks doing a fly by. Just amazed that we have them in our ‘hood.

Lager is snuggling in, giving me a good excuse to have a bit of a break.

So somebody in Smalls shoved a bunch of 100 Boxline stuff(plus a 300 and 400 boxline box) in a tote marked for (Door)Orange 43, and somebody in Secondary thought that a tote marked “Orange 43”, filled with 100 Boxline stuff(plus the 300 and 400 items) should go to the 200 Boxline. I wanna take the drugs these people are taking, their world must be magical. The other clerk had to leave early, so I got stuck doing 2 slides. Plus I had to fetch all the rewraps and damages myself. But the OT will offset next week’s small vacation check. I did my Senior Day shopping, picked up 4 cases of beer, since that was on sale. Now Spot and I will take a short pregame nap.

You sound like Gordie.

Yeah. I once sat down at one of my frequent bars, and two bartenders were handing me beer before my butt hit the seat. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Ouch. Sorry that keeps happening.

We are a membership organisation. Our new President (‘La Jefa’, as opposed to the retired/retiring ‘El Jefe’) wants all staff to collectively contact our members to ‘connect’ with them and to find out if there’s anything they would like from us, ask if there’s anything keeping them from using membership benefits, etc.

The thing is, I’m a ‘data guy’. I’m on the front-end, and have little to do with the services we offer. Also, I don’t like talking to people on the phone. (Nevertheless, I’ve expressed a desire to become a new ‘northern’ Account Executive, since one of the AEs is in the Seattle area and the other is about as far south of our office as I am north.) Anyway, I’ve been tasked with contacting 30 businesses. I was given a script, and a chart of what we offer. Only four of the companies on the list send us their monthly commercial accounts receivable files. I’ll start with them, since I already have relationships with them. I’ll probably lead with, ‘Hi, it’s me. First I want to thank you for your data. We’ve all been asked to contact our members to find out if there’s anything they need. I’m not a salesperson, so I hope that you’ll take pity on me…’ We have until May 16th to make all of our calls.

So I went to print the script on The Spousal Unit’s printer. It ran out of ink. There was a cartridge on the table, so I thought, ‘How hard could it be?’ I did have some trouble getting the old cartridge out and the new one in, but I did and it printed off an alignment sheet. The alignment sheet said I needed to scan it, so I did. I think the pages I printed might look a little clearer, but I’ll have to print off a contract that has a smaller font to see.

It’s time for me to clock out for lunch. Wifey, RN will be late tonight. I think I’ll go to the supermarket and pick up some ribs for dinner.

Well, so much for my 5 day job. My anxiety kept me from showing up, so now relying on churches to keep me afloat.
On a good note, I had grocery perks, $5 worth so got a 6 pack of Cottonelle for 50 cents!
Then I tried a two dollar scratch off and got 20!

Glad Fortune smiled down upon you today!

I have some beef ribs in the oven. I was going to rub them with olive oil, kosher salt, and coarse black pepper, but it was easier to get the jar of beef rub I mixed up a while ago and put it on dry. They’re smelling good. I also bought a bag of coleslaw and mixed it up with some Marie’s coleslaw dressing.

The Bush’s Museum and lunch were fun! When we first arrived, they offered us “bean shots” - a tiny cup with a sample of beans - one plain, one spicy. Then we walked thru the museum and the kids did a scavenger hunt - find different items in the displays. At the end, they got stickers.

Next was lunch, which was tasty and very reasonable. All in all, a nice late morning/early afternoon.

Then we dropped FCD off at the hotel and took the kids to a really nice playground. Just as we arrived there, my phone dinged. Thank goodness I froze my Visa - someone tried to charge $147 worth of crap. So whoever found it thought they scored. Nope. As soon as I get home, I’ll call the credit union.

The kids are using the last of our tokens in the arcade. After supper, we’ll clean out the car and start to pack. On the road in the morning.
