(Old) Did Everybody Retire In The MMP?

I’m officially a gimp now.

I got my temporary handicap tag and cane today. The two new grabbers will be here tomorrow. I also have an appointment with the ortho Monday.

We tend to like ‘plain’ coleslaw; but The Missus likes raisins in it. Up here, everyone wants to make ‘gourmet’ coleslaw. They add all sorts of things. Like red onions. Now, I like red onions. But it doesn’t belong in coleslaw. Same with coarse black pepper. We’ve also found that places make it too dry and bland.

doggio he insists he’s fine. I don’t trust him to tell me if he’s not. So who knows?

Alarm set for 6. Ain’t no way we’re on the road at 6:30 the way FCD wants. We shall see.

Nah, probably not what you need. What I bought are “superworms” which are the larvae of a beetle and not really what you need for making compost.

Red wrigglers, for sure.

‘Round here, every shitty Corner Sto’ and gas station has live bait for sale, in small fridges like you’d see in a dorm room.

But I would start with a garden supply store - a small tub the size of your hand isn’t much of a start, and they should have bigger amounts.

I gave in to the headache and took a lil’ nap earlier, but got up in time to make it to Wally World.
They did, in fact, have honey sliced ham, so Easter is saved!
Stuffed chicken boobie in the oven now. Just starting to sprinkle a bit outside.

Culver’s ButterBurgers are great but this is walleye season, a limited time offer not to be missed.

As for A.M. Angst, I’m unaware of anything they can do for it other than sedatives.

Yeah, I’d be nearly at 30 years with Cornell…but I like what I’m doing now. I’m over it, since there’s nothing to be done for it. Elderly spilled milk…

shoe Yup the gas station down the road has, well during summer, live bait for sale. (They don’t usually to leave them outside when it gets below freezing.) They may be rednecks, but are not sadists.

FCM Best of luck on the trip back. And I hope FCD finally has some closure.

flyboy I’m with you on the “plain” coleslaw. I don’t want too much “stuff” gunking up my wet cabbage. But the craisins sound like an ok add in.

red The times I’ve had a handicap tag were really nice. Hobbling around on either a torn achilles or blown ACL was not a good time, I’ve done them at different times on both legs, so 4x. Use the pass as much as possible, you’ve earned it, unfortunately.

Up, caffeinated and sheveled. Off to heave

Got some sleep, at least the headache is mercifully gone.

Now I’m sipping water & watching old Tom & Jerry cartoons while waiting for Mr. Sandman to reemerge.
Tunder-boomers are predicted by the Oracles. I sure believe it - the wind is really starting to pick up.

Grabbed a pack of sliced deli turkey when I was picking up the ham last night - it makes a quick snack during busy rushes (takes two seconds to pop some in your mouth & get right back to it) just need to remember to bring with.

Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 12c/53f with a predicted high of 15c/58f and with rain showers. Weather app says “Do you know what’s fucking worse than rain? Wetting yourself while you’re giving a fucking presentation.” Not a problem I’ve ever had, but also not one I’d want.

I’m so glad you were able to freeze the card, and I hope whoever tried to use suffered crippling public embarrassment when it was declined.

My usual supermarket sells small bunches of daffs for £1, normally 10 stems. I buy some every week as soon as they start to appear as they were my mum’s favourites too and somehow it makes me feel closer to her.

And so am I! I have a lot of eye troubles, nowhere near as worrying as yours, but I feel so much for people who have sudden onset eye issues. So glad to hear that you’re almost fixed, and you’ve got bonus sunglasses too.

You bought beef that identifies as chicken?

Pavo I am exhausted just reading about your day. I hope you get some decent rest afterwards.

Those handicap tags can be a real blessing. I managed to get one for mum in the last few months of her life, she didn’t want to go out much but when she felt like a little walk somewhere, it was so useful to get a dedicated parking spot.

That was a very good plan, headaches really ruin your day. Glad you got your oinky and easter is saved!

It’s been a busy morning so far - I have been to the gym, then stopped at the pet shop on the way home to stock up on cat litter and extra treats for the girlies and the lodger, now back at home for a cuppa and a shower. 'im indoors is just surfacing (I can hear him talking to Cherry), so I’ll see what he plans for today. I need to go into town for a couple of things and I also need to go to the supermarket for some essentials. His gym is next to the supermarket where I get 3hrs free parking…so I can drop him off there, do my stuff and either collect him again or I’ll go home and he can walk back as it’s not that far from home.

We’re out to see some bands tonight and had a message from a couple of friends to say that they’re coming as well so we’ll meet up with them and get some food beforehand. That puts our food plans out of sync a bit, fortunately I had only taken some chicken out of the freezer an hour or less before they messaged so that went back into the freezer and will be used another day.

Muffin growled and hissed at me last night when I came in to give her some treats, and I got the same reception this morning when I came in to pick up her empty food bowls and refresh the kibble and water…but…good news! She finally got brave enough to have a poo, in the litter tray! I am so proud of her

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 53 Amurrkin out and mostly clear with a predicted high of 86 and N.O.S. Easter will see temps in the mid 80s. All the kiddies will have nice weather to hunt for aigs whilst makin’ a mess of their brand new outfits. I shall be busyish again today. I promised to sit vigil at the Altar of Repose for an hour. OYKW is actually goin’ to do that with me! We will do Stations of The Cross at noon. Afterwards we will get fish ‘n chips from Captain D’s as that’s nnear where we will be. Then we will be RDOS for a while. We will attend the Good Friday service at six p.m.

I mentioned I got busy yestiddy. I had agreed to help prep and setup for the agape supper. I thought this met a couple of hours. Ha! For three and a half hours I peeled, chopped, and setup the Parish hall. It was worth it as there was a good sized crowd on hand for the meal as well as the service. The idea was middle eastern type foods. We had hummus, bell peppers, cucumbers, dried apricots, dates, and figs, havarti and feta cheese, apple slices, bread and roasted garlic with olive oil and herbs for dippin’, black and green olives, pita chips and crackers. We also had red wine and sparklin’ red grape juice. OYKW and I rode in separate vehicles. He left around eight and I had been in da cave just a few minutes when I posted last night. I’m glad today won’t be as busy.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day!

Happy Firday Y’all! A Blessed Good Friday to all who observe.

We’re at Perkins in Dandridge, TN for brekkies. Just under 500 miles to go. So ready to be home.

Happy Firday!

Mornin’ all - 8am here. I’m up an hour, sun is up an hour, GF is hard unconscious. For now. Prolly sumthin’ about rode hard & put away wet; happy but wet.

NWS sez 76/24 soon to be 82/28 with a few scattered puffy clouds. Should be a fun day together then she does nearby happy hour with a GF then we reconvene back here. Which HH just might get crashed by some guy.

Geezer disco last night was lightly attended but a great show. I think this band is new to the area and new to that venue, so they played a no-kidding 2 hour set of high energy rock, took a 15 minute breather, then knocked out another 90 minutes. Gotta impress that stage manager they’re worth bringing back. I’d sure watch / listen / dance to them again.

@Nellie: Hooray for quick mostly-resolution!!1! Best post by faaar of the whole day/night.

You’ve earned enough cheese this week that we ought to get you Champagne to go with, not mere whine.

Once well set, they seem almost like dandelions or weeds; they’re self-renewing and very hardy year to year.

In St. Louis the highway department had / has a habit of planting fields of daffodils on the grassy slopes alongside every freeway on- and off-ramp. One of the big signs of Spring when I lived there was the explosion of yellow on all 4 sides of every overpass. Such a happy sight.

Except when an overpass was first built, I never saw them replanting. The daffs seemed as permanent as the concrete.

Given the price of eggs today, you’d hope they were the size to have come out of a cow.

Although maybe the reason egg prices are so high is they keep slaughtering the hens trying to make stew meat from them. That takes a lotta hens.

Somebody is up; gotta go. I’ll reconvene w y’all later.

Its to be 75 today. Which means storms overnight and cooler tomorrow with rain.
Walking to an interview.
Will report back later.:desert_island:

Does anyone here follow the Made-Up Band Names thread? It’s a bit of silly fun, and I have indeed submitted a few that originated here in the MMP.

I got a solid 8 hours of sleep and feel almost human again. Today is Mrs W’s birthday, and I will see her before it’s over! Yay! We will celebrate tomorrow. She had a few different things in mind, but I don’t know for sure what’s in store. It’s her day.

But first, a little (mild) solo Big Easy fun!

Well good Morning on this Good Friday. Up about 6am and decided to get my Firday shopping done early before the schools opened, so dressed and Kroger’ed and that mission has been completed. Came home and feasted on pancakes, so belly feels quite full now. No soccer today, so can do as much (or as little) gym stuff as I want. 62F heading to 84F and no rain in sight (that’s due Monday) so should be a pleasant time here in N. Ali-bama.

Debating on going back to Kroger, they are offering a “buy 2 12-packs, get 3 free” on Pepsi products, that puts the price of a 12-pack at an average of $4.40 each, which is a ridiculously low price (normal here is $10.99 a pack), but even as much as I drink I don’t know if I need that much… May take a look at the expiration dates and decide.

And time to start scrolling…

Never heard of raisins (or much of anything) in coleslaw before, I will have to see about sampling that sometime…

JtC, there are only two types of people; basically decent folks and S.O.B.'s. Doesn;t matter race, religion, politics, anything, just those two types. Sounds like you landed in an area with mostly the decent type. And yeah, the medium-term plan is to move to an apartment sometime in the next 4 years or so, and I will be doing some things in the next couple of years to get the place ready for that. And I second that Boss should visit the grand Canyon if she has the chance; it’s one of a few ‘never ever forget’ experiences in my life.

red, take care now.

FCM, safe drive home.

I’ll take your word for it, I don’t like fish (which made meatless Fridays when I was a young cat-lick boy a real pain for me and my parents…).

shoe. enjoy the Easter Ham. I probably will celebrate Sunday Dinner with the highly rationed 5Guys and Large Fries (hey, different strokes…).

boo fae, sounds like another fun weekend. And Yay! on the Muffin Poop! (on reflection that sounds a bit weird/kinky, but I’ll go with it-good band name, though…).

swampy, sounds like stuffing took place at that supper, have a good Friday worship.

and you are conscious which makes you…

Wheelie. I’ll have to look at that thread, came up with one above already this morning…and a Happy Birthday wish to Mrs. W.

And at the bottom of the scroll, so onto other things. Have a good Good Friday all.

Sitting in the car while MusicMan has an appointment at the local VA office. Then we’re off to run some errands and eventually have lunch.

JtC, it is easier to walk since I’ve lost weight - except when it isn’t. Stairs are always challenging and my ankles are getting worse. I did remember to schedule physical therapy for my ankles and it starts next week. I have quit walking with the cane, but I do always have one in my car.

That’s a wonderful bargain for fresh flowers!

This was a persistent bastard, too - after dinner I went to bed still feeling like crap.

Progress!

That sounds like a fancy way of saying, “Take a nap.”

Same to you.

Nice!

Hope this one lands properly!

There were, indeed, tunder-boomers earlier, which sorta half-woke me. Still are, in fact, and we’re getting quite the soak to go with the rumbling.

Good morning to stay in bed with the cat, enjoying the sound and just-perfect cool temps.

Nah. They didnt see me on the interview list. I showed them the text. My luck.

Greetings from sunny western Washington. Today’s plans include walking Ms. Dog and doing housework. It’s supposed to get up to 72º today. I’m glad tomorrow will be cooler, as I’ll be joining the march.

My eye is back to 100%. Hooray! I have to keep up the frequent steroid drops, but having to take out my right lens for 15 minutes is a small price to pay.

I say buy 'em. Soda isn’t perishable. The “use by” date supposedly indicates when it will be at its peak, flavor- and carbonation-wise, but I read once that it’s basically a ploy to sell more soda. (My apologies if you already knew this.)

Coppertone, is this the same interview you missed?

Not even canned tuna? You must have eaten a lot of PBJ’s during Lent.

I believe it prefers to be called chucken.

I did that back when I was Catholic-ing. I was sleep-deprived and felt so reposed, I had a hard time staying awake.

The Middle East feast sounds wonderful, but I’m sorry you had to work so long to make it happen.

FCM, have safe travels! I’m happy you’ll be able to sleep in your own bed tonight.

No, different.
