Mrs. L.A. went to an overpass in Bellingham to join people hanging a WE STAND WITH IMMIGRANTS banner. Lots of waves and honks, but she said there were more people flipping them off this time. Weird.
I had dinner cooking when she got home. Tilapia filets with olive oil, a little kosher salt, rosemary sprigs, and lemon slices, baked in a 400ºF oven for 23 minutes. A go-to veg is asparagus, and we had some (uncooked) leftover from the nikumaki I made the other night. I didn’t want to just steam it… again. So I found a keto creamed asparagus recipe: 2 oz. cream cheese, a couple of ounces of shredded Monterrey jack, some parmesan, and some heavy cream, all melted together. Put the trimmed asparagus into a baking dish that had been sprayed with cooking spray, pour the cheese sauce on, cover it (because my little baking dish has a cover), and put it in the oven to cook with the fish.
I think you are seriously over estimating my gardening abilities!
Link please, cause that sounds really good.
It is raining now, but not nearly as hard as last night. Thunderboomers sound further away, but this is a little state. They could be happening over DC for all I know.
Actually, the guy who makes them ( my dad) makes quite a few small ones. A lot of his buyers use them for crafts, displays or small garden crates. It sounds like a half peck one would likely be about the right size for you.
The link has quantities and measurements, an’ shite. I just grokked the cheeses and cream and used the TLAR method. Basically, the ‘recipe’ is in my post.
Otherwise, search: keto creamed asparagus recipe. Even the AI is acceptable.
So weird being up, dressed, and fed, yet at my house it’s the middle of the night. We’ll head back to Terminal 5 in an hour or so and track down the cruise reps. More later.
Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 21c/69f with a predicted high of 26c/79f and mostly cloudy. Weather app says “Mostly fucking cloudy? More like mostly fucking cloudy bullshit.” Well, there are some clouds out there but there’s also a lot of blue sky and some sun.
It’s done by the campus catering service so it would have been grilling things and declaring it a bbq if it’s burnt properly. Another good reason not to bother with it.
Moooom please keep updating the MMP with your cruising musings You know we are your most avid audience!
Busy, busy, busy this morning! I have fed and watered the cats, cleaned litter trays, had a cup of tea and a banana, and I am soon to be heading to the gym. After that, straight off to help set up a stall for Little Paws at a local pub where they’re having one of their summer events. I offered to go early to help set up as it takes four people to put the gazebo up!
I can only stay for about half an hour as I’m channeling Moooom and getting my hair cut. Then back home for lunch and a proper change of clothes (taking a spare t-shirt for after the gym), back to the Claregate to help out on the tombola stall for the afternoon, and home by about 6pm. We are going out for a curry in town because it’s my turn to cook and I haven’t got time for that today. Then off to see a couple of bands in the Giffard.
Yesterday was payday so I’ve updated my accounts this morning and paid my debts, which is always a good feeling.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 71 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 88 and cloudy with rain/tstorms/apocalypse beginnin’ late afternoon. We shall see. The plan of the day is RDOS inactivities. Sup will be chikin wings (breaded and spicy) from the Pubic sto’ and various leftover veggies that need to get et up. I envision it to be an early one.
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.
It’s 58°F and cloudy this morning. We can expect considerable cloudiness throughout the day, with an anticipated high temperature of around 75°F. Yesterday was right dreary looking outside, very dark and cloudy, but no moisture ever fell.
I’m sorry someone had the temerity to steal your basket, JtC. Maybe that just means you’ll find a better one!
I also need to make an appointment to get my hair cut. The last time I had it cut was the first week of May, and it’s beginning to show.
It seems like most of the hotels I’ve recently stayed in required me to tap my key card. I stayed in a hotel near the waterfront in Vancouver, which only allowed access beyond the second floor with a key card. There were a lot of homeless people in that area, so I’m not surprised.
I am meeting my friend T at 8:00 a.m. to go for a walk. On the way back home, I need to stop and pick up some hydrangea food. Once I return home, I’ll take care of watering and feeding the posies, and mowing the lawn. I should bathe the doggos, too.
Right on with the day. I need to hop in the shower now so I can leave in a bit.
Good morning. I’ve read all and mostly comprehended.
Today I am going to go get my hearing aids. Before that, we may go for a scavenger hunt from the website of the same name. It was something like $63 for the two of us for the year and they’ve got scavenger hunts all over the US. For instance, there are about 5 of them within a one hour radius from us. This is a continuation from my birthday weekend when I didn’t really feel like doing much.
Honestly, I don’t feel great today, but I am feeling better than I was a couple hours ago. It was very interesting to have read about how GLP-1 use can reduce migraine occurrences and then mine started coming back with a vengeance since I’ve been off the meds for a couple weeks. I am definitely ready to start my injections again soon.
I hope you can figure out the med balance. I have headaches the first few days after Mounjaro, and GI issues, whereas with Ozempic (which stopped controlling my blood sugar), I mostly had overwhelming nausea.
It sounds like your cruise is off to a good start, Mooooooom.
Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to do KP. I stayed in bed reading this morning until Nelson began to stir. What can I say? It’s Saturday for him too.
Howdy all. While FCM & FCD ate starting their cruise mine is done, disembarking was easy, about a 20 minute walk to the Hotel and then about 4.5 hours exploring Southampton, which is a ‘nice’ place but outside of one museum that I enjoyed (The Solent Sky Museum) and one I did not (Tudor House Museum), not a lot to see except cruise ships, there were 4 in port this morning (just looked up and spotted a 5th) so catering to the passengers is obviously pretty important to the local economy. Made sure I could find my way to the train station and the bus terminal easily enough and did find the local McDonald’s, so that is now an option. Taking it easy the rest of today, will be on the train to Portsmouth tomorrow and am looking forward to that.
Have read all but still restricted to my phone so replies are hard, y’all take care and I’ll be back in the US of A in a couple more days.
I’ve done some exploring aboard and I was hoping to do a comprehensive summary of my adventures so far, but my keyboard went dead so it’s plugged in to recharge. I think I’ll lie down for a bit before supper.
After the dr. appt. yesterday, I went for the French toast. This time I had the peach cobbler. Good heavens! It was even better than the crème brûlée. Amazing!
I had them knock the right lens out of my glasses. I tried wearing them last night. Oh, no, it was freaky. I felt like I was over corrected.
Yesterday I told the doctor I was 95% sure on setting left eye to intermediate and near. Now I’m 100%. Having both eyes at distance is bizarre.
I decided on not doing the shopping trip today. At home with the cats.
No French toast today, I have a brownie. Later it is fried food day with fried ravioli and mozzarella.
