Last night, I had an inspired idea for today’s MMP. This morning, nothing.
But all the geezers here will understand. and probably the rest of you, too.
Happy Moanday!

Happy Moanday. I’m first! Neener.
Just past sunrise here and my gloat for today is this was the first morning of the season warm enough to balconate in shorts & a t-shirt. So that’s what I’ve been doing the last hour-ish.
More later before someone beats me on pressing [Save]
I read that as baconate.
I was all worried about severe storms last night. There were none. Forecasters are wrong a lot.
We didn’t have any here either, Coppertone. I’m glad.
I’m sitting here with the usual poodle and just about ready to figure out breakfast.
I’m amazed when forecasters get it more right than wrong. When you think about all the things they have to consider, how easily those things can change, and reliance on computer models that may or may not agree, I have to wonder if they’d just do better watching animals and having a good sniff of the air. Meteorology isn’t an exact science when it comes to forecasting. It’s great to look at overall trends and predicting overall trends, but will it rain tomorrow? Maaaaaaybe…
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 68 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 76 with tstorms this afternoon. The plan for today, well at least this mornin’ is to pull a bunch of casserole dishes etc. outta the kitchen cabinets and decide what to keep and what to disappear. I don’t do cookin’ for large crowds anymore so I am sure a lot of the hyuuuge ones can find new homes. Plus there’s the whole need to not have stuff on top shelves that are only accessible by climbin’ up to get ‘em. Fun times ahead. Sup will be fried chikin strips, lima beans, smashed N.O.T. ‘n gravy, and rolls. I don’t fry chikin often, but both of us have a gnawin’ and a cravin’.
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.
Happy Moanday Y’all!
Good Monday Morning! We had a big thunderstorm yesterday. Right now, it’s 35F, cloudy, and windy. The coffee has finished burbling. I’m going to have a good day! I decided I would, that’s why!
I need to do this, too. I incorporated a bunch of MIL’s corning ware into my stash, but there are way too many assorted things crammed into 2 cabinets. I can’t even offer them to Daughter since she took what she wanted already.
I also need to clean the top shelf in my spice cabinet - things keep getting stuck and I suspect one of the molasses jars. Plus I’m not sure what, if anything, occupies the cabinet over the fridge.
But not today. I got the measurements I need to make the weather cloths and it’s time to lay them both out and get sewing. That’s the plan. After the hospital calls me back - I need to pre-register for my mammosquish tomorrow.
FCD just left for the boat. He’s trying to get everything ready for the installation of the fuel tanks to minimize delays. No sense in paying them to do things we can get done ahead of time. Slowly but surely, it’s coming together.
Theoretically, we’re getting one tonight. Of course, it was also supposed to rain this morning, but there’s no sign of it. Time will tell.
I suppose I can empty the dishwasher while waiting for the hospital to call back.
Coppertone: lots of mumpers read it that way.
As to forecasts. … Remember they’re not forecasting severe storms at your address. They’re forecasting severe storms for your part of your state. Somebody is going to have the bad luck to have the strong winds and hail & such directly overhead. But that somebody is a lot more likely to be somebody else than you. For any “you”.
Good gosh it gets late quickly around here. Need to quit this driveling and lever myself upright and off to conquer my RDOSly tasks.
Ref Swampy & FCM and accumulated kitchen stuff …
Yeah, when I combined with the now-unlamented HL, and again when I de-combined from her, a large amount of legacy cookware went away. Zero of which I miss now. It is liberating to see empty cabinets where so many dishes, etc., were once piled that it was the work of 5 minutes to unpack a shelf to get the [whatever] you really needed. Then you had to play “Cabinet Tetris” to get it all back in there.
Clutter is a curse: kill it. Cabinet Tetris is a game for losers, not winners.
Exactly. People who say that the weatherman is always wrong aren’t taking this into account. As an example, the ABC 7 viewing area is past the Wisconsin border and all the way down and across to northwest Indiana.
It’s… it’s… it’s a challenge. A brain-teasher! Mental stimulation! No, I’m not a hoarder, I’m a collector. Just in case I need that particular casserole that I haven’t used in 37 years…
I heard a whoop and and “Oh, $#1+!” from the other end of the house, so I rushed over there. I asked Mrs. Nott what happened, and she said, “I won an expensive purse in a contest.” Oh. Poshmark stuff.
I think we got them all here.
Was up sick a couple of times last night, which tanked my BG this morning. I called out and have ingested some toast and tea. I may try some oatmeal and applesauce later.
Stay safe and healthy y’all!
Good morning. Monday this week is apparently brought to you by … back pain!
Slept weird, now my back is really tight. Right between my shoulder blade and spine. Hard to stand or sit up straight. I have to teach all day sitting on a bench and then on to a three-hour rehearsal. Good times.
Storms also missed us yesterday. More coming Wednesday. It’s spring in the Midwest.
I just got a text from the “USPS” that links to a domain in Libya. Yeah, I’m sure that’s legit…
Showered, dressed, and the dishwasher is empty. Building up courage to go down the basement and start on the weather cloths. I’d really rather not, but it’s gotta be done.
Afternoon, mumpers! It’s currently 16c/60f with a predicted high of 17c/62f, and partly cloudy. Weather app says “That one guy says “partly sunny”. He’s a fucking dumbass.” There’s no “partly” about it, it’s glorious out there.
Muffin arrived yesterday evening, she’s quite a big cat compared to our other two. I’ve set her up in the office here, and right now she’s hidden herself away in a corner, occasionally growling at me. She’s had some food so that’s a good sign, and hopefully she’ll use the litter tray later when I’ve gone downstairs for a while. Poor little girl’s had a rough couple of days and needs some quiet time to settle in.
I’ve been to do the grocery shopping, and I’m now scoffing leftover chilli for lunch. Two more hours until I finish irk, then I can go off and do slightly more fun things.
Morning all. Thunderstorms were predicted for this morning and we’re having them as I type this, so score one for the forecasters. They say it is due to stop about 9am so we’ll see if they are right on that too. Temperatures will be cooler (in the 60’F) today, but then getting into the 80’s during the week, but with a chance of rain almost every day.
Big job today is the plumbers getting the dishwasher back in-place and the getting the flooring people scheduled to reattach the carpet and replace a couple of floor tiles, then scheduling the fixing of the wallboard. Might try to get some swimming and gym workout in there too, but I suspect soccer will get cancelled due to the wet fields.
FCM, don’t know about remembering stuff from the night, my ‘dumbth’ thing right now is walking to my car without the keys…wallet, change, phone, hearing air holder, no problem…just forget to pick up the keys right next to all the other stuff.
Knots, don’t think I ever whooped when I won something, more like a quick “HA”. And have that good day now.
Dang it, now you have me wanting bacon…
red, feel better soon. You too, Pavo
boo fae, hope the Muffin settles in without too much trouble. Have the others noticed her yet?
Nice thing about being a bachelor in a house is that most of my kitchen drawers abnd cabinets are not overstocked. Probably have too many drinking glasses and could manage with fewer, but they are not a problem…yet.
And time to break fast, may have a bacon sammich due to reading this thread…have a good week all.
I frequently forget my phone. It mostly lives on the end table next to my recliner, so not in my field of view when I head to the car. Can’t count the number of times I’m on the road and suddenly realize I’ve forgotten it. And at this stage of life, I really should have it with me all the time.
OK, heading downstairs for reals now. Not kidding!!!
I’ve had dreams in my 20s where I come up with a foolproof idea to cure cancer, or I have the guaranteed winning lottery numbers. But when I try to read the instructions/numbers/whatever, the characters become unreadable and fly off of the page.
Biked to breakfast … with bacon TYVM. Thank you Coppertone! Beach is next stop.
Living up high as I do with an unobstructed view across half the horizon I see the forecasts in action.
While I was balconating pre-dawn today there was a big thunderstorm. The top was way up in the sunlight. The bottom was still in twilight, and raining madly across circle a couple / few miles across. The cloud flickered pretty steadily with lighting inside and a bolt came out the bottom every minute or so.
But it was offshore a mile, and a couple / few miles downcoast. The only people getting wet were fish. It probably drifted onshore later & rained on somebody. Not anyone near me though.
Was the forecast for thunderstorms accurate? Sure. Did I get wet? Nope.
