(Old) Another lost great idea in the MMP

Blargh.

When I set up my schedule this semester, I scheduled lessons on Monday mornings from 10-12, 11-12, and 12-1 (and now throughout the afternoon, but that’s not important here). My 11am had to drop voice for"personal reasons". I tried to move my 10am to 11, but he has a class conflict. So I left at 9am to be here a while before my 10am, have an irritating drive that took 15 minutes longer than it should have, and arrived to an email from my 10am that he can’t make it today. So I’m at work two hours earlier than I need to be.

Guess I’ll practice Gesualdo.

Why is it, on my day off, I’m completely physically unable to sleep even a semi-decent amount, let alone sleep late?

Bah!

Single most absolutely crucial task of the day: put on pants, and drive over to the mngmt. co. office to sign my lease renewal.

This is the absolute last day to do so.

But shoe you degenerate slacker, why have you not handled such an important task yet?

Because their damn portal is supposed to let me renew online. Damn thing lets me get about 2/3 of the way through, and then … craps out.
Log out, log back in, all my signatures are saved right up to … the same place. (The oh-so-lovely bedbug addendum.) And then, no more lease for you!!

I want (need!) more sleep, but I suspect that { sigh } I’d be better served going out now, and hoping for a nap later.
I just don’t think I can go back to sleep right now.

Bah!!!

I’m amazed you investigated even that far.

The P.O. has my address. If they need to get a hold of me, they’ll, yanno, MAIL me.
Or stick a notice on my door/mailbox. (“Sorry we missed you!”)

What they don’t have, though, is my phone number.

Besides, a rather antiquated department that still uses paper stamps like the 1800s stagecoach era isn’t gonna be hip to the newfangled tech like faxes texts, anyway.

Frankly, any call or text not from someone already in my contact list is 99.99% of the time a scam.
Immediate delete, both from my phone and from my mind.

Howdy, all. Feeling achy and tired today, probably from the drive out to WI for the clan gathering. The trip out wasn’t bad, but we ran into weather coming back, and the speeding assholes sending up clouds of water in their wakes made things very fuzzy. Luckily, we got home just as a snow squall blew in and dumped two inches on us, but that drive always tires me out and aggravates the arthritis in my neck. Good to see everyone, though.

The wife’s niece was supposed to come over today, but she had a rough shift in the ER last night, including pulling an OD out of his car and trying to resuscitate him. I guess it got messy and she didn’t feel like she’d be good company today.

Laundry and haircuts later and I may need a nap.

Oh hell, I just realized that tomorrow is our anniversary; 32 years. We don’t make a big deal out of these benchmarks, so no gift to worry about. My mere presence will be enough.

I also am wondering about this. I know what 4/20 is but don’t know why it may not be same as previously.

perhaps you might consider doing my 1-2-3-4 and modifying as appropriate: 1-cell phone, 2-keys, 3-wallet, 4-mask, and then I normally say to self: anything else, so for Krogering-grab reusable bags, for work-grab ID badge, etc.

When Daughter got here yesterday, I had her take Bella for a walk around the block while I was putting the finishing touches on the dinner. Unfortunately Bella vomited during the walk, apparently the 2nd breakfast wasn’t digested and that was almost 7 hours previously. I’d also given her a CBD?? as the thunderstorm was getting close. She was pretty chill when the thunder and lightening happened.

After dinner (and our Spartans concluding their participation in The Dance), we took the 3 cars to the gas station and gassed them all up at $1.899/gallon.

Today I’m feeling like shoe, overwhelmed by all the tasks that need to be done. I’m not in my 20’s anymore, nor my 30’s, nor my … ok enough with the decades, suffice to say, I’m not as spry as I used to be. But I best be getting to something.

Hope this new week finds you in good health.

Another one of those crazy shorthanded Mondays. It sprinkled a littel during the sort, but there aren’t supposed to be thunderstorms till later. I did my Aldi run, I even splurged on eggs. Naptime.

As did I. I will do that tonight, however.

< cue ominous music >

I live in a weather bubble, so frequently storms run straight us, and then curve around.

I frequently go through closets and donate or toss stuff I don’t use. It make the Catholic in me happy to divest myself of worldly goods, and live more spiritually(usually gin).

After a rough week, it feels more like a normal Monday morning around here, including Zoe snarfing her breakfast and immediately begging for treats.

Today’s tasks include laundry, scrubbing trash bins, and maybe fixing the broken tuning peg on my ukulele, if I get to it.

Going to be a nice weather week, with more seasonal 60s and 70s. 90s are due back in about 10 days. We’re skipping right over the 80s, apparently.

Oh well, coffee’s empty. Off to launder!

Just a late morning check-in. Plumbers have been here and my dishwasher is happily churning away. Went out to do shopping and sammich, but the Jersey Mike’s I frequent was not open (sign says 10am, 10:15 and no lights on in the back, no signs of life) so went to Subway instead. Not the best choice, they are nowhere near as good a quality as J.M.'s and the toppings were fewer, so will hold out for Mike’s subs next time. Will wait to hear from the flooring people until noon, then call them about doing the tile/carpet and go from there. Rain has stopped and there is some sunlight poking out of the clouds, but still expect the powers-that-be to keep the fields closed.

Pavo, try scheduling soccer practices for 8-10 kids that don’t conflict with something else they are doing–not easy. My sympathies.

shoe, been there, had systems crap out on me too; probably like you say, a bug in the system, surprised that others haven’t complained too, but best it be done now.

Have a good recovery day, cookie, family plus driving in weather wears any of us down. And niece has a tough job; more than I could handle. And Happy Early Anniversary!!

Cat Glove, I do try to take inventory and I’m positive I have my keys in my pocket…right up until I push the button and the car says it can’t detect them, and I have two sets sitting on the same table next to the other pocket stuff. It is a puzzlement…

And onward into the day.

Isn’t it great when you quote someone’s post (like this) and have no idea what you were going to say in response to it?

Yay, Muffin!

I’ve been working on the house a bit today. I Mopped the kitchen and dining room and that was fun. Now I’m just sitting here chilling out trying to decide what to tackle next. I’m thinking that dinner is going to be leftovers as we need to get some groceries around here!

Cast ye out all your demons! Rum excepted.

So I made a list and have started working my way through it. I did a little WFH, sorted the cold water laundry and started filling the machine then soaked the clothing that needs to be soaked before being laundered.

I’m working on making toilet paper tube planters.

  1. At one end make a cut approx 1"; could be 3/4"to 1-1/4". No need to measure, doesn’t need to be exact.
  2. Make second cut directly across from first cut; so halfway around the tube.
  3. Turn tube so the cuts are on the right and left then make cuts half way between them on both sides.
  4. Fold the sections down one at a time over each other.
  5. Put the tube with folded ends down in approx 3/8" of water for approx 10-12 seconds.
  6. Turn tube over and let any water drain out.
  7. Put tube in a tray to dry and for folds to adhere to each other.
  8. After tube is dry, fill with potting soil mix. We used Members Mark potting soil and mixed in some ground up eggshells, coffee grounds and some worm compost.
  9. Plant your seeds.
  10. Mist the open end so damp.
  11. Put under a cover for greenhouse effect.
  12. After germination and seedlings are an appropriate size and weather is warm enough, Tubes can be planted directly in ground (that’s what my BF does) or open the end first if you want (that’s what I’m going to do) or take the whole tube apart and plant without tube.

Going to start filtering water now.

If you have a Costco card or know someone who does, try them. I discovered yesterday that a package of 2 dozen there was about the same price other stores I shop are currently wanting for ONE dozen, and I don’t typically shop the high-end grocery stores.

Leftovers are just normal over here. Dinner tonight will probably be the remaining meatloaf and scalloped potatoes from last night. The potatoes were prefab from Costco’s deli section, but we both like them, the meatloaf was actually concocted from scratch. I made a big enough batch of meatloaf that the freezer got a couple of loaves too.

Today’s projects include processing more of the ground beef stockup (when $4/lb for 80/20 is a “stock up” price, grocery costs are getting a tad ridiculous) and doing an online training for my temp agency. Allegedly 15 minutes, I’m pretty sure I’ve done this one within the last 6 months, but at least I get paid for it. Load of laundry needs to be put away, too. Don’t think I’m going to get around to much defilthing today, I may have to do bits here and there during the week.

We should get our primary microwave (bigger, more powerful, more features) back by the end of the week. Parts were necessary, but were apparently coming in from Las Vegas, so that could have been worse (such as the east coast). At least it’s a warranty repair, so the only cost to us in this has been time and fuel to convey the thing to/from the appliance hospital and the (IMO could have been optional) purchase of a cheapie backup microwave (which we do plan to keep on hand, once I figure out where we’re putting it).

And may you be filled with good spirits!

It’s been a gloomy drizzly day here in the forest. Last night we had the windows open which the fuzzbutts liked until the thunderboomers started. George doesn’t like loud noises, so he fled to his cavern of solitude and of course Jolene followed him.

I’m still kinda achy from yesterday, but its not so bad. I’ll be staying home during the week to be sure that I’m ready for the 5th.

That’s OK, the forest is now changing hourly and I’m just loving watching it. There are Redbuds blooming behind the new green of an explosion of leaves just spring out all over. I’m seeing more bright yellow and some orange as well, it is just fabulous.

Hubs is upset because our lawn is covered with pretty yellow dandelions and purple clover that sprouted up overnight, but I think it looks delightful. I’ve got some local wildflower seeds that I’m going to sprinkle around the no-mow zone after the milkweed gets started. It might turn into a wild mess, but it will be my wild mess and I’m sure small garden critters will enjoy it.

Thanks for the instructions, those sound much less messy than the ones I tried in the past.

No investigation necessary. The link was on the text - I just had to read it. OK, I had to look up the domain because I wasn’t certain it was Libya. I like to know who’s trying to scam me.

Yeah, pretty much for me, too, altho the mammosquish folks called and I let it go to voicemail, just in case. I should probably add that number for future calls.

We went out for lunch, then back to the boat. FCD had a couple more things to do and I needed to verify some measurements. I’ll finish laying out the starboard weather cloth tomorrow before my squishing. I also measured the cushions on the flybridge - they need to be reupholstered. Once I figure out how much fabric to order, I’ll convince FCD that a pattern will be more interesting than plain sunbrella, then I can start to cover them one at a time.

Now, tho, I think I need to hold down my recliner. You gotta keep on top of those things, yanno!

We recently had some lamb chops that were very sub-par: thin and gristly and not very flavorful. So to erase that experience I went yesterday to a good market and splurged on four very chonky, meaty small loin lamb chops. We just had them for lunch sprinkled with garlic and fresh rosemary and accompanied by rice pilaf and string beans.

I’m glad Mr. brown stuffed himself on them, because he had his Covid booster this morning and by this evening he should be feeling pretty rocky. It’s good to fortify yourself against the icks by having a substantial meal. He probably won’t want dinner.

I made myself do phone work to arrange assorted medical appointments. I had to reschedule an ophthalmologist appointment, schedule a skin check with the dermatologist, and find out about pricing at a local dentist (too expensive).

Our month of March was completely backwards. It did not come in like a lion; it was calm and temperate on March 1. March 31, on the other hand, was cold and blustery with patches of icy rain. That’s not going out like a lamb. Oh, well, as long as we got the rain at some point. I don’t want another drought year.

Pavo, I briefly imagined “Gesualdo” was a yoga thing. I crossed off “Where’s Waldo” right away, and then I looked it up to find the composer you meant.
Shoe, when the sensible thing to is ignore and/or delete any calls from numbers we don’t recognize, it’s no surprise that so many people feel isolated and lonely. A string of grawlix to the spammers! And a pox on their mombots, for good measure.
My 3:00pm pill alarm went off, and pillage is now complete.

As for this 4/20, it falls on Easter this year, prompting one cartoonist to draw Jesus hugging a giant hemp leaf.

FCMom, I vaguely remembered putting something appropriate in the cabinet over the fridge. I just now checked, and it’s spares for the air and water filters for the fridge. Mystery solved. I’m 6’4" tall, and I can barely reach that cabinet. Mrs. Nott is 5’4", so she needs a stepstool to reach it, if I’m not handy.

My to-do list says “Clean the slow-running bathroom sink drain.” I went off in search of the spucket-a-spucket-a thing, but it has gone into hiding. Maybe Mrs. Nott can find it. Wives have that special eye-bone, you know. The wife in the Raising Duncan comic said, “Yes, dear, but you were looking with man eyes.”

Hair cut, laundry done. My replenishment of New Mexico pinon coffee arrived. Biscochito flavor. I switch between that and Ethiopian Daye Bensa from Coffee Bros of New York. Also ordered some bagels from a business in NYC. Compared to some I’ve ordered in the past, these were relatively inexpensive, the shipping is free, and they get here in three days, baked fresh, not off a shelf.

Dinner will be a store-bought Chicken Tikka Masala over rice.

You’re very welcome. And hands didn’t get dirty at all because we shoveled the potting soil into the cut end of a water bottle whose neck was just a scosch smaller than the opening of a toilet paper tube. Then shook the soil into the tube. To plant the seeds we used a chop stick to make the holes then move the soil over to cover the seed. All of this knowledge is courtesy of my BF. She has been growing seedlings from seeds for years. This is my first time.

My Babcia used to grow plants from seeds then she would bring the seedlings out to the cottage to plant and we could harvest tomatoes and other veggies when we vacationed at the cottage, so long as the other relatives didn’t get to them first.

I’ve started seedlings from seed in the past, but always bought those little peat pots. Being able to recycle instead of buying something is always a much better idea!

Hubs has put a few things in the top cabinets, but mostly they are empty. I don’t want to be climbing on a step-ladder to get things.

It has been raining on and off all day which still fascinates me. All that water just falling out of the sky like that is just magic. Morning foggy rain is even better. We got a bag of sunflower seeds in our chewy order and the cardinals seem to be enjoying them. The fuzzbutts enjoy watching the cardinals as much as I do. I’m really looking forward to having the screen doors installed, that will let the fuzzbutts go nose to beak with the bold red birds.

:musical_note: One of these things is not like the other one. :notes:

If talking to a spammer who’s trying to cheat me out of $$$$ is what counts as social interaction, I’ll just go hide back under my rock, thankyouverymuch.

So many people do, in fact, feel isolated and lonely.
I’m one of them!

Still doesn’t mean imma chat with some rando who wants to call and talk to me about my (nonexistent) student loans, or car warranty, or etc.

shoe - you could have some fun with the Randoes. Let them have their opening line, then try something like "So, what are you drinking? " or "Why are the squirrels trying to get into my dining room? " or "My cat is ignoring me again. " Or maybe something you always say at work? I dunno. I ignore the calls, too. Not bored enough to screw with scammers… yet…

FCD wants chicken wings for supper. Not sure what I’ll have but there’s stuff in the fridge. No chocolate, tho, dammit.
