(Old) Another lost great idea in the MMP

You know the rule about pics! I know that she’s settling in, but whenever she’s up to it, I’d love to see one.

This. I don’t answer calls not on my contact list. If it’s important, they’ll leave a voicemail.

Thank you for the reminder. I just put it on my weekend list.

I’m holding down tea, toast and some chicken noodle soup. The BG has been brought back to normal and steady and I’m feeling halfway human now. Nelson has enjoyed having his hooman around for a bonus day.

It was a very stormy night and today has been a windy 50F day, colder than the past few days. We’re supposed to get warmer for the rest of the week, but expecting rain every day. (Take note Moooooooom and oopsie, you’re about a day behind me).

“Muskegon Roadkill Cafe, you kill 'em, we grill 'em, how can I help you?”

Not really, but a coupla NYE ago, when we were CLOSED FOR AN HOUR AND THE PHONE STILL WOULDN’T SHUT UP, seriously, S.M. said “okay, shoe go for it.”

And so I did.
Coupla times.
Results were hilarious.

Mind you, we’d been closed for almost an hour, and the same. damn. number. kept. calling.
There’s an answering machine that says, basically, we’re closed, we open and such-and-such, etc.

Dude wouldn’t take “no” for an answer, and we were sick of hearing the damn phone keep ringing.

“Muskegon Roadkill Cafe, you kill 'em, we grill 'em, how can I help you?”
“Uh … aren’t you the pizza place?”
“We sure are. But we closed almost an hour ago. { chirpy voice } Happy New Year!!”
{ CLICK }

The church dinner was lasahna, finally! It was great.
The guy gave me a container of meatballs to take. Then the bus driver gave me cookies.
Physical tomorrow.

Roadkill pizza. Yum!

Very blah today. Not surprising as Friday will be the first anniversary of my father’s passing. I was hoping to wait until Thursday or so to fall apart.

Well played! Yaay!

But how many times after that did the drunk moron call again hoping for a different answer?

Oh, sugarplum. I am so sorry. Those “first!” milestones are the absolute worst.

Dunno. We were busy doing, yanno, grown ass adult things on the clock. Like cleaning, restocking, and getting DAHFUQ outta there.

Now when it’s not a holiday, when the phone rings after hours, we generally don’t answer. Same answering service (I actually called earlier, for da shits’n’giggles) informing you that, nah, we not open.

We just keep on doin’ what we doin’ except we yell, “Make yourself a peanut butter sammich!” or “Oh, it’s ramen time!” at the phone.

When I worked in a bar, any calls after closing, while we were cleaning up were answered Main View Zoo, gorilla cage

:people_hugging:

Next time, try

Call our California store; they’re still open! Delivery charge gonna be a bitch tho’

Howdy Y’all! We did the kitchen cabinets thang. Bunch of stuff got packed up to disappear. I need to ask if the church ladies are doin’ a yahd sale this year. If not Goodwill will get it all. When motivation comes upon us again, we will tackle various miscellaneous cook stuff that lives in two cabinets in the garage. The biiiiiig trash can got hauled all the way back up from the road to where it stays durin’ the week. We earned our nappage and day drinkin’ today! Plus it stormed a good bit of the afternoon, so good snooze weather.

For after hour insistent calls, I would do a dracula accent. Goooooood evvvvening.

Today was a bit wild. Four work calls happened on Sunday for a report that must, absolutely must arrive in nyc Monday afternoon. Could I call a courier. Yes, I could, if I knew when the report will be done. Did they need me to get to the office early?

The 4th call told me to arrive at the regular morning hour. I nearly missed the morning shuttle. Thankfully I was able to call down and tell them I was waiting on the elevator, i got to the shuttle at 8:01.

I reckoned on the 2 people to rush me at the door. Oddly they did not. There was nothing on my desk. After a slow computer wake up, there was an email linking to the report, sent 10 minutes prior. I get that started, give out the easy post, come back bind up the reports and check in with the manager.

They are waiting on one more thing from the client. It is now 9am, they don’t have a time to tell the courier. I ask if they want me to take it to nyc. Boy howdy, did they jump on that offer. I get other things done while waiting on the last bit. Then finally at 10 am they give me the last piece. Then they want a signature form made up. I headed to the train station at 10:45, figuring I missed the 11am.

The 11 am was late! Got on that train, 11:35 and on to nyc. Turns out I am delivering to the Empire State Building! I go in, they call up to the company and I am told I have to go to the loading dock. I get to the dock go through multiple layers of security, a bit of a maze and finally to the mail department of the company. Got my signature.

I get a text from the big boss telling me to eat lunch in nyc then come back. I decided this meant go to the Harry Potter store for lunch. Got back to the train station, no train until 4 pm. Finally got home at 6pm.

Wild day.

Teaching accomplished. Now at rehearsal for Chorus Job #1.

I need a nap, bit that is generally frowned upon.

even tho i just turned 49 today i think old age is catching up cause i felt lousy lol

oh god my stepdad had a few for annoying calls back in the day one i remember was “daves morgue you stab em we slab em” he had a few cruder ones ..twas god fun until my social worker called and i answered and mom got a small riot act read to her

Small thunderstorms during Spot and my nap.

Arrrrrrr! :pirate_flag:

“Joe’s Taxidermy. you stiff 'em, we stuff 'em.”

I like Himalayan Possum on mine. I found him a layin’ in the middle of the road.

{{{{sticky}}}}

Indeed.

After a large lunch of halfapoundo ground beef with a bag of frozen broccoli, mayonnaise, and sriracha sauce, I wasn’t terribly hungry for dinner. So I just had some of the chili colorado. Mrs. L.A. had her leftover Korean soup… only she didn’t quite finish it, so I had to finish it for her. (To her credit, she did eat the rice she’d put in it.) I was full after the chili. Now I’m stuffed.

Watching Gran Torino, which I’ve only seen a couple of times. Good movie.

Good evening all and time for the late-night final. Got my exercise in with the pesonal trainer and then was going to referee a soccer game I found on-line (my practice field had been closed as I expected). Guess the other region decided to close their fields too but didn’t have any notification so drove 10 miles to sit around to see if anyone would show up. Did get to play for a few minutes with a red-furred border-collie type dog so it wasn’t a total waste. The red pony-tailed girl provided the evening repast and then wnet swimming for a couple hours, so at least I kept fairly active. Weight is back to 204lbs, due to conspicuous consumption the last 3 days (over 3,200 calories/day), but I don’t worry too much, the weight training is building some more muscle and that needs support (at least that is what I am telling myself). Will cut back some the next few days.

Now to play catch-up…

Nettie, they just opened a Costco near me, I am a BJ’s member so don’t really need to join Costco, but might wander in just to look around (they let you do that, don’t they?). Glad the Main MIcrowave is coming home.

JtC, my lawn would be probably closer to Hubs speed, no mess allowed in this suburban area. And hope the screen door allows you to get pics of the feline/avian meeting…

FCM, one of these days I expect to see pictures of you actually boating…

lucky, I’m not fond of lamb chops but glad you and Mr. Brown had some good ones.

Cat Glove, happy planting prep!

red, take care and keep getting better.

shoe. loved the story of your persistent caller. Still think your crew should submit some of them to the “Not Always Right” website…

Sticky Buns, {{{ }}} for your memories…

rocky, hope the bosses appreciate your actions on their behalf. Sounds like a hectic day.

shady, a most Happy Birthday to you. And just wait until you hit the bit 5-0 next year…

And time to head off to dreamland. Catch y’all tomorrow.

Gesualdo is a composer that, if you’re not a choir geek, you’ve probably never heard of. But if you’re a choir geek for long enough, you will eventually encounter him. He’s inevitable. Like Thanos. Kind of psychotic like Thanos, too.

Anyway, Monday is done. Hopefully off to dreamland quickly. And no weird sleeping so my back doesn’t hurt in the morning.

I’m not sure if non-member exploring is as much allowed as it used to be. They’re clamping down on non-members making use of the place. You might want to check their website for current rules.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave.

Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 4c/39f with a predicted high of 15c/58f and partly cloudy. Weather app says “Enjoy this fucking mild weather. Shitty stupid weather will soon be fucking here again.” OK, I’ll do that, it’s beautifully sunny outside today.

Happy birthday, Shady I hope you start feeling better soon.

{{{{{Sticky Buns}}}}} those first milestones are tough to get through, try to focus on the good memories and the fun times and hopefully things will start to look a little brighter.

I had a quiet end to yesterday, finished irk and logged off before doing some domestic drudgery, then fed the cats and made myself some dinner. I also collected up all the recycling to go in the bin and hauled the biiiiig bin out to the kerb for today’s collection. That got emptied around 7am as I heard the dustcart coming up the street while I was still in bed.

So today I have been outside to haul the biiiig bin back to where it lives. I’ve cleaned the litter trays, fed the cats and have had a chat with Muffin. She growled at me, then had a half miaow-half growl so perhaps she’s softening a bit. I haven’t got a pic of her here, she’s been hiding all the time but this is her pic from our FB page.

Today’s big job is writing staff reviews. I’ve finished one, got one to do this morning and my own to do this afternoon. We have new paperwork but no guidance on how it should be completed, and apparently the uni has reverted to the idea that the staff member completes it rather than the manager doing it. Did they bother to make that clear at any point? Of course not.

As soon as we have fuel tanks again, we’ll be heading out. Not going anywhere, just putt-putting around the local waters. I’m guessing late April-ish. Unless it’s all put together before we head to Gatlinburg.

Muffin reminds me of Daughter’s first cat, Cleo (who has long since gone to her kitteh reward.) As I recall, she wasn’t particularly sociable with anyone but Daughter - a one-person cat, I suppose. Kinda the way Ziva is.

Much rain last night - only a single boom. It alternated between gentle showers and raging downpours. but it’s clear this morning and much dried before sunrise. Our rain gauge puddle is quite small.

After I’m done morning surfage and once I’m showered and dressed, I’ll get the longer of the two weather cloths cut out and marked for sewing. The biggest problem is that it’s over 100" long, and the table isn’t, even when I put the leaf in. And, no, I won’t work on the floor - just no. I do have a straight selvedge to work from - all measurements will originate there. With luck, it’ll be done before I have to leave.

Mammosquishage at 1:30 followed by some grocery shopping. Last night, I did an inventory of the meat freezer. Good supplies of everything except there’s no meatloaf. I was sure I had one. So I’ll get some ground beef and build a couple of them. And a tray of chickie wings if they’re not stoopit $$$. Four of them in the air fryer is a quick and easy feed for FCD. I’m not all that crazy about them, but I can always figure out something for myself, even if it’s just a can of soup.

Cooler day forecast - we might get to 60°. Yesterday, it hit 80°. Psycho weather. The basement will be cool, but not cool enough to lay a fire. Wearing a sweater will suffice. Meanwhile, a bowl of cereal in yogurt has been ingested and caffeination continues.

Happy Tuesday! And Happy April Fool’s Day - not in honor of the Orange Fool… :stuck_out_tongue:
