(Old) Drudgery In The MMP

Spot and I napped. There were thunderstorms. Now I’m up, having a martini, and teriyaki chicken stirfry. Spot is taking his hourly 59 minute nap.

I’d pay to watch sticky and Uri in a spoon off on TV.

Per minute charge for aircraft pressurization.

Nice!

That’s why I’m glad my complex has decent staff. I do my own minor repairs, thought(I’ve been here long enough to fell like I own the place).

{{{{pavo}}}}

Thanks for taking such good care of us!

The last time that I made a long distance move, I had a 24# long haired cat and no AC in my pick up in late August. Every time I would make a pit stop, I’d get a cup of ice for Figaro to curl up around. We both survived.

Indeed, thank you, Aspenglow.

I am happy to do it. You all brighten my days every day!

Be careful what you wish for …

And I have our boarding passes. Group 3. But FCD will have his cane - maybe we can get pre-boarding?

This time tomorrow, we should be airborne.

That sounds like a nightmare! Happily my AC worked last year when we drove across country so I didn’t have to resort to that sort of thing. Had I known about the AC issues at the vet office, we would have rescheduled our appointment. It wasn’t critical or even urgent. It was just their yearly look-over and I wanted them chipped.

Spot is a lightweight, Jolene can take three hour naps without breaking a sweat!

We are having thunderboomers now and the lights just flickered. After I posted, I went out and deep watered everything so it should start raining soon.

I saw Walking Lady on her way home and stopped her so I could give her a frozen package of sto bought bacon. We both like the bootleg bacon better, so that’s the excuse I gave her. “Oh, now that husband has eaten the other stuff, he doesn’t want this. Can you use it? We don’t have room.” She also took half of the cantaloupe we got at the Amish stand, it was really good but too big for both of us.

It’s nice to have someone to give all of our extras to, that was becoming quite the issue for me.

I meant to discuss this as well. The chip needle didn’t look like a regular syringe, so Hubs didn’t pass out. I had him backed in a corner, ready to block him if he dropped (didn’t want him to hit his head), but he did well enough with Jolene that I let him hold GG for his chip.

Jolene weighs 9.3 lbs. GG was 21.7. She still kicks his fuzzy butt at least twice a day just for lolz!

Yes–do that. It makes such a difference.

JtC, I don’t think I posted this about our new sofa (variant spelling):

Our Jolene would set that blue off quite nicely!

That’s a very nice couch, I hope you enjoy it for many years to come.

Thank you. I hope to acquire a brace of kitties soon, and they will make sure it’s professionally shredded.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. It’s raining.

It’s not the size of the cat in the fight, it’s the size of the fight in the cat(probably helps that GG isn’t the brightest bulb in the chandelier).

Funny, of all the cats I’ve had, the only one that uses the scratching post instead of the furniture is Mr. Former Feral.

Up after 5 hours. Of course it will be back to sleep. Carry on.

Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 18c/65f with a predicted high of 22c/71f and showery. Weather app says “This fucking rain is like the annoying person that sits next to you at work. Fucking annoying”.

It’s a lovely place, and the railway journey is spectacular. I’m glad you got to see it!

Sticky Buns sadly the eighth time was not a charm. The student can’t have her results released because her account is blocked, due to unpaid tuition fees. I have no access to the finance section of student records. Seven times I told her to follow the link in my email and contact the finance office directly, and if she had paid her fees then she would need to upload the proof and that can only be done via the finance office’s online portal. So she sent me the copy of her receipt for fee payment. I sent her exactly the same information again, and her reply was quite rude. So I passed that on to someone higher up and told them I’m not dealing with her and her attitude. She’s now been replied to by someone else and told not to contact us again.

Oooh…very fancy! Surely that pic should have gone into the last MMP so you could be the sharp dressed one?

I am sorry for your loss, especially as it will have such far-reaching effects for everyone left behind.

Sadly there are only so many ways you can say “I can’t deal with a finance issue. Here’s the link to the finance office, follow it and deal directly with them”.

After a frustrating day yesterday, I had a pleasant evening out with friends at a local pub. The weather was warm enough for us to sit outside all evening and a good time was had by all. I was home and in bed by 11.30pm after the cats had their bedtime treats. Up early for campus so I am feeling a bit jaded today, but it’s going to be a short-ish day.

I’ve already dealt with one emergency and am waiting for an email that will let me finish that particular job. I’m also hoping to get out of irk early today. There’s a College Forum this morning followed by a bbq which I have chosen not to attend. I’m not fond of corporate back-slapping events and I have better things to do with my time. If I can finish here early, I can go home via a couple of places in town and that will mean I have less stuff to do at the weekend.

For now, I need more tea!

Is that shredded or shedded?

Woke stupid early today for no particular reason. I tried going back to sleep to no avail. So I got up and began the process of shifting the time I take my meds by taking them a little earlier. Then I’ll set alarms on my phone to remind me.

I’ll need to contact Holland America again today - I don’t know what password I used for FCD on his account there and without it, he can’t log in to the app. All attempts using the reset password link have failed. I’m wondering if they change his account email, that will help. Very frustrating…

I did get our boarding passes printed out last night, so there’s that. We’ll get to the airport about 3 hours early, check in, and sit. Our flight leaves at 9:20 this evening and arrives in London at 9:35 - only 15 minutes!! OK, 7 hours and 15 minutes. Whatevs. Unfortunately, we may not be able to check in to our hotel till 2, which sucks, but we’ll see if we can get in earlier. I expect we’ll both be zombies.

Today’s plans - laundry and finish packing, change our bed linen, rollsuck since I didn’t do it yesterday, water the plants on the front porch, empty the dishwasher, and probably more that I’ve forgotten. I’m glad we’ve got a late departure - I hate being rushed at the last minute. Just so I don’t forget the folder with all our documents.

Onward! Happy Thursday!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 72 Amurrkin out and rainy with a predicted high of 90 and rain. The big item on today’s agenda is to get shorn. TWPTB say the rain will slack off around eight a.m. and return around noon. That would be nice as we plan to be at the haircut place when it opens around nine. The rest of the day will be spent in high RDOS inactivities as it’s a good day to be inside and dry. Sup will be grilled ham steak, grilled zucchini and summer squish, mac ‘n cheese and rolls. Easy and tasty.

We were sans intartoobz yestiddy evenin’ and into the night. We (mostly me, as OYKW is a semi Luddite) survived cause we watched movies via dvd. There was a hyuuuge tstorm around eight p.m. that got me a little spooked cause of the continuous lightnin’. I love me a good tstorm but that one was a bit too much. Looks like I missed some kind of excitatement up in here as well. Thank you Bright Tree for takin’ care of us.

Flyboy no need to apologize for the vent. That’s one of the many services provided in the MMP. I am sure we’ve all let off some steam from time to time.

MetalMouse glad you are enjoyin’ your cruise. Hope you don’t come down with a cold.

red that’s what I thought pink stuff is. Green junk is the pistachio thing MOOOOOOM described. Back in the day I ate both and thought them tasty. Now the thought of ‘em turns my stomach.

JtC glad the chippin’ went well for Jolene, GG, and hubs.

MOOOOOOM I am sure you will remember everything. Hope the flight goes well this evenin’. Hopefully the hotel will make accommodations for two weary overnight geezer travelers.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then I suppose I must purtify and don appropriate attire before goin’ to get shorn.

Happy Thursday Y’all!

Yesterday my outfit for Aldi’s was questionable according to MusicMan’s standards, at least. I had on a tie dye shirt and Cheshire Cat leggings that are very bright and colorful!

{{{pavo}}}

Yesterday my big trip for the whole day was Aldi’s. Because it’s so hot out, I wanted to have something cold for MusicMan to eat. I ended up creating my first (don’t judge) charcuterie table with the help of my resin stuff and a wrinkled (also don’t judge) tablecloth.

Imgur

Ok, so I ended up with pizza too, since they had some with a cauliflower crust and he likes that as well. And I got a non-cauliflower crust pizza for me and my mom. And some fudge stripe cookies!

I have still not been feeling great. The doctor’s office told me to quit taking the GLP-1 until I feel better. Better hasn’t been reached yet, though, and it’s been 1 1/2 weeks. I may end up making an appointment to go in and see them. It takes less than an hour of me doing anything involving the slightest exertion and I end up weak with shaky hands.

Speaking of my doctor’s office, I am very worried as my doctor (actually a NP) is out due to a ‘medical emergency’. He’s a very good guy who is kind and compassionate and I’ve been a patient of his for something like 7 years now. I was actually one of his first two patients when he started as an NP. I really hope that he’s ok. Truth be told, this has been weighing on me all week. Partly because a doctor that he worked with just passed away suddenly about a month ago. Completely unrelated, but I’m still concerned.

Today I’m going to put together my cart/table from Michael’s that was my birthday present. I plan on using it for silverware work. This way I’ll be less likely to clutter up the kitchen table. Here’s what it looks like. I ended up buying it online because the day that I got it the sale was something like 50% off.

Howdy all. At the buffet with some friends and wanted to catch up with y’all. On the ship today with no port and very foggy so a good day to stay inside which is what the 3,500 folks are doing. Have tried to read all but do have a small cold so not much comprehension. No parrots but lots of seagulls. In Belgium of all places tomorrow then back to England. May try my luck again at the casino, I was ahead by 50 pounds last night but they got it back so I quit while I was even. Slept in to 9am today because I could.

Take care and good wishes for your cruise FCM; pack for a variety of weather.

That couch demands a pair of long haired white cats posing on it. Of course, then it will be a fuzzy white couch instead of a classy blue one, but cat hair always improves things!

Who often takes a while before he even figures out that she’s attacking him. She wears herself out when she goes after him from behind.

Oh, I totally understand how it works when someone doesn’t want to do something so refuses to understand! Happily Hubs has never been one to weaponize incompetence, he’s just deaf.

It doesn’t matter. You will be rushed at the last minute.

Have a wonderful trip!

NOOOO!!! I’m so glad you survived. Dang about the big storm, did you get any rain? We just got noise here :frowning:

That looks super cute and very yummy!. Is that a bacon pillow or just a decoration? Cause I could sleep well on a bacon pillow! Your spoon cart looks very handy, I hope you enjoy it.

I hope you start feeling better soon!

Maybe take a nice long nap today to help fight the cold off.

Hooray for the cruises. Good luck to FCM on today’s / tonight’s flight and hotel process.

As to metalmouse … When I went on my Norway cruise back in Feb commasense was on the same cruise and we met up regularly. He’s a great guy and they’re a lovely couple. On one of our stops one of the shore excursions was to take a long (>4 hour) bus ride to Flam, ride their train, then bus back to the ship. He and his wife did that; he’s a bit of a railfan. He said it was really a beautiful experience and well worth the bus ride. His wife seemed more neutral on the benefit/effort ratio. Meanwhile, Boat Babe and I chose more local activities onshore and then back aboard. Rabbits may have been involved; I don’t specifically recall.

Yesterday for me was housekeepers followed by a quick stop at the groc store. It rained, sprinkled, or was cloudy until about 3pm, so once the sun emerged to stay then I beached and dinnered a few miles downcoast until late. When sunset is a bit after 8pm, starting beaching at 4pm works well; the sun angle isn’t quite as burny so I can last longer comfortably.

So far today’s weather looks like a replay of yesterday’s. Raining right here right now but the radar shows it’s spotty around the region and with luck will all move offshore soon. Suggesting the rest of my day will resemble yesterday: sunny and sandy w intermittent food and drink. But sadly solo. Of the two loads of housekeeper-induced laundry, the sheets are now drying, and towels are now washing. So the weekly drudgery is partway done. My own weekly clothes pile got done Tue morning after I got back Mon night.

There’s a large mass of t-boomers offshore and along the Keys that is wreaking havoc on the arrival flows into MIA; I can easily see how ATC is tearing their hair out now, talking at 500 mph while airplanes are pin-balling all over the sky evading the obstacles. Best of all: Not. My. Problem.

I had become a bit concerned that as much as I enjoy my apartment warm (78/26) and therefore a touch humid (60-80%), I might eventually start propagating mold. Which would be bad. I have temp / humidity gauges in 3 spots and sometimes their readings are a wee bit  higher than building management would prefer. Oddly, despite the last couple of days’ raininess, the indoor humidity has been lower than earlier this month when it was sunnier.

I’m sure as hell not going to use my HVAC to freeze the humidity out of the room as everyone else does. That’d freeze me out of my own home; total nonstarter. It did, however, work for HL to freeze me out of her home. Thanks HL; that really improved my life.

Da Jungle yesterday helpfully sent me a dehumidifier which I’ve put into action today. Sadly I can’t plumb in the drain, so I’ll be emptying its tank at some interval. It’ll be interesting to see how much effort it has to go to to keep the place both warm and dry. And how much drudgery I’ll have emptying its tank every x hours or days. My guess is daily-ish. We shall see.

Probably enough drivel for one day. I did read everyone upthread and offer my congrats, hugs, and condolences as appropriate. Oh yeah … and trouts although I’m not quite sure why. Perhaps swampy can explain.

Cheers and good wishes to all!
