The same kind of day. I ended up helping on the 300 Slide, while MSG did the 100 and 200. We almost had it good, then we got slammed with last Air. There was a bunch of stuff left behind when the drivers left. There will be wailing and gnashing of teeth Tuesday, when The Supreme Shouting Officer sees the numbers. i got out at 2:30. It was 98 degrees Ferret Height(36.667 Centipedes) when I got out, but it dropped to 78F(25.556C) when the front came through. It looked like rain, the lights flickered, but it went around me. I’m having a gin&tonic in the fancy G&T glass while the laundry dries. I foresee an early bedtime again.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY FCDAUGHTER!!!
Take her stapler.
As happy unretired Teamseter member, I wish you the same.

Happy Gotcha Day!
The same people who saw bees making honey and said, "Those insects are vomiting into wax hexagons. Let’s eat it!
Well, for the first time in several weeks, no trip to the gym, I watched some tackleball and MeTV Cartoon channel was running Star Trek-The Animated Series for several hours so binged that and then napped until 4pm. Still 96F out there, so will pass some time internettin’, fix me some cheese dogs, and call it a day. Probably will put on the bare minimun of clothing and go check the mail, but that will conclude the outdoor activity.
FCM, enjoy dinner anyway.
Oopsie, Dicey, was not familiar with the Crocodile Locomotive so I googled some more info on it and now I want to see one (closest I’ve come is those engines they use to tow ships in the Panama Canal).
Dicey, those small cruises are nice, but they have big price tags. If parents can do it, they should go for it.
Nut, may your washing remain unsullied.
Coppertone, often depends what you eat. Sometimes 3 small pancakes can fill me right up at the time, other times I can stuff a rather huge amount of produce in my belly. Bodies is weird.
52, we’re promised 90F highs until Mid-September and who knows after that. Hang in there.
And will do a little more internettin’ before fixing the cheese dogs. Have a good evening all.
A jeweller/watch repairer (who is now long dead) told me that my very first watch, a present for my tenth birthday, would ‘never run again’. Today I went to two other jewellers. They said it needs a new movement. The whole movement. Alas. (Maybe I can find a vintage Timex on eBay and have the guts swapped out.) I also had them look at my grandfather’s Gruen. One said they could not get the parts, and the other said he might not be able to get the parts. I’ll have to send it to a Gruen specialist.
Aside from the trip to Bellingham, refuelling, and getting some groceries, I’ve done nothing today.
Howdy Y’all! I was domestic this mornin’ and made the cake, plus I made up the casserole which will bake tomorrow mornin’. OYKW will be in charge of bringin’ food to the church house as I have Verger duty, so must serve both services. Tomorrow will be my last nine a.m. service for a while as the Bishop has assigned a seminary intern (he’s in a hybrid program at General Seminary in Noo Yawk that allows him to take a lot of courses online and spend five weeks a year (for three years) on the campus) and part of his duties will be to serve with Priest at the nine a.m. services for however long he will be with us. Yay for that. But I digress. The rest of the day has been spent in high RDOS sloth. My DAWGS demolished Tennessee 63-3. It’s called a cupcake game, but this was more of a brownie bite game. I only halfway watched the second half cause I got bored. OYKW even commented on how few WOOFS he heard and on how no cuss words were uttered.
Nuts look after those toes. Hope they feel better soonest.
MOOOOOOM I don’t do layer cakes. I eat ‘em, but I don’t make ‘em. Fortunately I do know people who are more than willin’ to make me a layer cake in exchange for money. Watchin’ the young’uns for a while seems to me a great bday present to your daughter.
BooFae sketties and sofa time sounds like a nice evenin’ to me!
Dicey sounds like y’all have settled back in the real world nicely.
MetalMouse take it easy and hope the cold or whatever goes away soonest.
Coppertone since our resident night nurse has chimed in, I hope the suppositories do the trick for ya.
Taters the Jawja National (note, not state, but NATIONAL) Fair is in October in large and in charge Perry, Jawja. Haven’t been in years and have no desire to break that record. You and I can grump together.
Hippie I am savin’ that recipe cause it sounds nummy. One question; is that hot tap water?
WetOne that sounds like a good plan. Also, sup sounds nummy!
Oopsie I need to lie down after readin’ about your week! Glad you got overtime. Hope the move was not too stressful and that all the stuff gets figured out soonest.
Mollie Mrs. Magill and you enjoy your fancy pants dinner tonight!
Nettie happy gotcha day to Misty!
JtC that was some high class entertainment! It’s kinda like demolition derby but you didn’t have to pay.
BrightTree looks like Boise State is givin’ your Ducks a run for the money. Apprropriate/inappropriate appendages crossed. GO DUCKS! I see now that they pulled it out. Definitely no cupcake game for your Ducks.
52 actually, bein’ a little bit of a weirdo might work in your favor. I am sure both BrightTree and Nuts will agree.
The green chili stew was wonderful, as always. If anyone is interested in the recipe, it’s on Food.com. I follow it pretty closely, except I use Hatch chilis from a jar.
Supper was good, and over $200 including tip, sans alcohol. Sometimes I wonder if that’s why SIL invites us. Or is that cynical? But they just shelled out for a washer and dryer, so I know their budget took a hit. Meh - it’s just money…
Sis was binging that when I stayed with her. James Spader rocks, as usual!
As a retired UAW / BCJ / UFCW member, back atcha!
Oy! Although I did accomplish laundry today, I didn’t do a whole lot more.
Right now, I’m frustrated. The batteries in the Roku remote went dead and so are my rechargeable backups. I went to switch to OTA TV and messed the damn thing up to where I can’t get out of the settings menu. I don’t have the spoons to deal with troubleshooting at this point. It wouldn’t be too bad if my drunken next door neighbor weren’t outside with her buddy being loud and, you guessed it, playing hardcore rap. I’m about to put the headset on the tablet and listen to some music that I like.
After picking up our wine, we went to the Penny’s in Murfreesboro, which was having a buy 1 get 2 sale on towels. We picked up some towels for Fang for Christmas. (He’s using old, hand-me-downs, and we figured he should have actual grown-up towels.) We then cruised the clearance rack and picked up some cute tops.
We then got some milkshakes, came home and got ready for dinner. We are now very, very full.
Late night final time. Despite no gym and a little nap am weary and ready for bed, should sleep soundly tonight (barring bladder alerts).
Swampy, in fairness your Dawgs trounced Tennessee STATE, which belongs to the Ohio Valley Conference and not the SEC team–not that you would have us thinking differently…
red, I don’t have any of those things, but hope it gets fixed and neighbor gets tired early too.
metal mouse, if I can make you or any other Mumper laugh, I am a happy girl. Hope you got in a good nap!
FCM, that sounds like a very special treat – and very generous for you to pony up for it.
LOL! I agree!
52, weirdo does count in your favor. I don’t blame you for feeling gaslit. I hope the heat does abate for you soon.
Ok, but food, you know? Watching bears eat honey might sort of smooth the way over, say, a banana slug. Hunger is a potent driver. But I take your points!
Congrats to your Dawgs, swampy! And boy, do I ever hear you re the Ducks. I’m a terrible fan. I got the times mixed up on the game so by the time I looked online for a score, they were well into the second quarter and behind. My jaw fell on the floor. But I hadn’t been following the team pre-season and didn’t know about injuries to some key players. I’m glad they prevailed in the end, but as you say, no cupcake game for them! Might be a rough season.
red, I hesitate to suggest this because I’m sure you’ve already thought of it. But could you unplug the tee vee, change the batteries and then plug the tee vee back in and see if it all resets itself? If that doesn’t work, I’m sorry. I got nuttin’. I hope you can fix it. And may the neighbor pass out shortly after turning off the rap music.
Happy to hear your dinner was all you expected, Mollie! Cute tops are a bonus.
A quiet afternoon here. For dinner, I grilled a steak that will provide 3 meals, half a potato and an ear of sweet corn on the side. Took care of some administrative stuff and made a start on cleaning up the patio and concrete apron in front of the workshop. I don’t know why I bother. There are so many pine needles, it will all need doing again in a few days.
Ollie barked his head off at a tarp I had moved a little bit in the wood shed. Idiot. Anything he perceives as out of place rocks his world.
A $200 dinner is for a Special Occasion. We had our 11th Anniversary dinner at a little French restaurant in Vancouver, BC a couple of weeks ago. It was around CDN$300, which was over US$200. As it is, our ‘data nights’ tend to be over $100… including two cocktails each.
Mrs. L.A. went down the beach and bought a ‘Welcome’ plaque with a reclining mermaid on top, plus two bronze-tone cleats (for tying up boats). She put the plaque up next to the door. I am expected to find somewhere to mount the cleats. Here’s the thing: Apparently, there were two cones in the parking area for the souvenir shop. She missed one, but ran over the other one. The proprietress came running out, yelling at her for running over the cone. I told The Missus that I would have said, ‘Oh, I’m sorry. I guess you don’t want to sell anything today.’ I mean, hey. It’s the last weekend of Summer. Not a good time to discourage people from buying from you. But Mrs. L.A. is a soft touch. Also, the woman is a neighbour (not sure where) and Wifey doesn’t want to make waves.
Anyway, I made store-brand Shake ‘n’ Bake porck chops, mashed potatoes, and country gravy for dinner. Mrs. L.A. thanked me, and said that it made her feel better after her earlier encounter.
I don’t have a shed, got a spare room though, if you don’t mind sharing it with some squeaky, stinky gremlins and my desk? I don’t think they’d get on with your kitties though.
Today is grey and still, maybe some bits of rain later, there’s been some overnight. The temperature isn’t forecast to hit 20C at all in the next week, it’s definitely cooling down.
Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 14c/57f with a predicted high of 23c/75f and scattered showers. Weather app says “It’s fucking raining. Great news if you’re a fucking duck.”
Nettie it’s hard to believe that it’s really been six years since Misty moved in!
Taters I don’t blame you wanting to avoid the fair - too much traffic and far too many people around for it to be fun.
Oopsie I hope you get some quiet time with your Lego, sounds like you’ve had quite the week!
52 a good haircut makes you feel much better. I’m the same with my hairdresser, I book 6 months of appointments at a time because she’s very busy. She only works part-time now, and the salon has a rota so that everyone gets a regular Saturday off so I need to fit in around that. I had a day off and went for a cut on a Monday once, the salon owner has only just got over the shock!
red sorry to hear about the TV woes and the neighbour too. Have management done anything about it yet?
Yesterday was a good day - I was up late (after being out late on Friday night), made myself presentable and went to the big supermarket to do my bucket collecting duty. We did quite well (raised almost £260), chatted to lots of lovely people, and handed out some flyers to people who are interested in adopting cats or becoming fosterers. After we’d done our hours, I popped into the store to get some nice sourdough bread for me and some milk for 'im indoors. I got home and had some sofa time before providing dinner (followed by ice cream after he found a couple of mint Magnums in his freezer while he was looking for something else). We watched “The Devil Wears Prada 2” for some light fluff, and I went to bed after that.
I’m up, he’s not, cats are fed and I’m internetting for a while. Our plans for today are a trip to the DIY store to get some weed membrane for the back garden. We still have to dig out the bramble roots or weedkill them, and finish a bit of clearance in one patch then the membrane can be put on top. George has decided he’s done all he’s going to do, 'im indoors feels like he’s been ripped off, and is grumbling on and off. I sympathise to an extent, but I don’t think he actually pinned George down to exactly what he was prepared to do. I had this problem before over some flat-roofing work where 'im indoors thought the roofer would replace the guttering, and got quiet tetchy when I asked him if he’d agreed that with the roofer. Turns out he’d never mentioned it to the roofer, so the guttering wasn’t replaced, and 'im indoors still does not believe he was in the wrong.
Time to drink more tea and wait for him to surface…
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 76 Amurrkin out and partly cloudy with a predicted high of 92 with a heat advisory this afternoon (temps will feel closer to 98 ferrets) and a chance of rain late afternoon into the evenin’. We shall see. The big item on today’s agenda is deheathenization, in which I have Verger duty, so two services. First Sunday brunch will follow and OYKW will bring the foodstuffs with him to the ten-thirty service. I also get to go back at three p.m. for group time. Looks like no nappage for me today. How I sacrifice!
MetalMouse yes Tennessee State. Can’t believe I forgot to put in “State.” Like I said, though, it was a brownie bite instead of a cupcake game. However Tennessee State got a good pay day out of it, so I guess they’re happy.
MOOOOOOM we haven’t been to our local good (there’s another that’s not so good) Japanese place in a while. It’s always fun, but more fun in a group of people you know versus sittin’ around one of those hibachi thingies with a bunch of strangers. At least it is for me. Yeah, dark around eight p.m., and daylight around seven a.m. Definitely close to Autumn.
red hope the techie woes get resolved soonest. I usually have to walk away from it until my two functionin’ brain cells bump into each other and I can resolve the issue. Hope the drunken neighbor settled down so you could sleep.
Mollie glad y’all enjoyed the fancy pants meal. I am sure Fang will appreciate his grown up towels. Also, score on the cute tops!
Bright Tree as of now, the Ducks are ranked number two in the NCAA. Boise State is known as a team that hangs tough, so no embarrassment there. I like meals that can stretch into more than one meal. When we have steak at da cave, we usually grill one and that one is enough for both of us. When we do men’s night over to the church house, we take two steaks and both of us pretty much bring home half of our steak for another meal. A lot of the time that means steak and aigs for breakfast the next day.
FlyBoy It’s not fried, it’s shake 'n bake and I helped! That commercial cracked sis and I up as humanlets and still does.
