(Old) On this day in history in the MMP

In 1990, a t-rex skeleton was discovered, in case you were wondering.

Happy Moanday!!

First! It’s good to be juvenile!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 72 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 95 and N.O.S. with a heat index of the gates of Hell. I do feel somewhat better today, but not that great yet. I think a day of lollin’ about is in store. Fortunately as a RDOS I am good at that. On the plus side, tummy is bein’ a little rumbly, so maybe I can feed it sump’n besides dry toast and chikin noodle soup which was all I could manage yestiddy. We shall see.

Now it’s time for more caffeine and to attempt to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Moanday Y’all!

Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 24c/76f with a predicted high of 27c/81f, and mostly cloudy. Weather app says “Miserably warm and fucking cloudy.” I’ll accept that, it’s hot and humid which means I am not a happy bunny. There was a little bit of rain overnight but nothing at all since I’ve been up, and I got up early!

Glad to hear you’re feeling a bit better, swampy, rumbly tummy is a good sign after a bout of ick. I think having a day lolling around is an excellent plan, especially as a RDOS. Sadly, I can’t do that, I have to work all day and the house hasn’t cleaned itself while I wasn’t here so I suppose I must do the rollsuck thing as well.

Woke to 66° and it looks like we can expect more of the same thru the end of the week at least. Nurse and shower aide are coming today and I plan an Aldi run, and maybe I can do a little work in the yard since it’s not going to be gawd-awful hot out.

Not much else in store. Things get crazy starting on Wednesday, but I’ve got a couple of days of relative calm till then.

Woke late, for me, after 2 separate dreams about people shooting.
Off to lunch later with my friend.

I’m glad you are feeling better swampy. You certainly deserve to do some extra lolling around today!

I worked hard yesterday and would also just loll around today but Hubs wants to go to Lowes and look at ceiling fans. As we do need them and I don’t want him coming home with five of these https://www.lowes.com/pd/Harbor-Breeze-Cohort-18-in-Matte-Black-Indoor-Outdoor-Fandelier-Ceiling-Fan-3-Blade/5014273965 I have donned bra and shoes to make myself acceptable for the trip.

We will also get lobster rolls for lunch, so I’ll call it a win.

Morning all. Slept pretty well last night so will be ready for the 5-S day (shop-sammich-swim-sauna-soccer). 70F heading to 88F and no sign of rain before the weekend, so keeping cool will be my main source of concern. Dishes have been placed in their proper place and I really do need to Hoover the house (for some reason, vacuuming, which should be one of the easiest chores, is the one I hate to do). This is eat-out day, so Jersey Mike’s and Wendy’s will provide the days recommended calorie dosage.

JtC, don’t think I’ve ever seen those types of ceiling fans and concur that getting the ‘standard’ ones is probably the better choice.

Good Lord, Woman, now you’ve jinxed yourself!!! No telling what’s going to happen now!! (hopefully nothing).

swampy, glad you are feeling better. Enjoy eating again.

And today in 1877 Edison first demonstrated his phonograph…and now we have SiriusXM whose bill comes due this month…

Have a good week all. And NO WRECKS TODAY; last week was a particularly bad day for cars in the MMP.

Good morning!

It’s 59F and cloudy this morning. It’ll be cloudy to mostly cloudy all day, and our high temperature will only be around 72F. I’m good with that.

Swampy, I’m glad you’re feeling a little better.

On this day in 1935, FDR signed the Social Security Bill. Also, in 1981, IBM introduced its first personal computer. Both of these events have made major impacts on the lives of people both in the U.S. (SS) and worldwide (PCs).

I’m not sure what is on today’s agenda. Yesterday, my husband mentioned going out to lunch today, so maybe we’ll do that. If not, I may take care of my own errands or just putter in the yard. I haven’t really been too productive the last couple of days due to a lack of energy. I was extra tired and just felt “off”. I slept in until around 9:00 a.m. yesterday too. I’m not 100%, but I do have a bit more energy today.

I suppose I should get that kitchen squared away. There are a few dishes in the sink that I need to load in the dishwasher.

So they sent people home today, then had me running around like a crazy person. But I survived the first day back

Here also.

Here it looked like clouds reflecting streetlights.

He should get a Big Ass fan instead.

keep feeling better.

Feel betterer Swampy!

Happy Moonday!

It was a brisk 59 degrees at the park this morning. August and 59 degrees does not compute.
My son didn’t want to get up to go so I said we’d get breakfast out. He chose Wendy’s. Only because he wanted a milkshake and you never know when the other places will have them. We had to wait for the frosty, but not too long.
I don’t like Wendy’s breakfast, but the only other place you can be sure to get a milkshake early in the morning is Roy Roger’s, and for that we have to drive into town.

I have a lot to do this morning, got my checklist beside me and need to get started. A lot of it is phone calls, and I hate making phone calls. There was a time I was good at them. I used to be the go-to person for all my friends for dealing with customer service. Now, if I can’t do it online and avoid interacting with other humans, I don’t want to do it at all. Unfortunately, a bunch of this list requires talking to humans, or more likely, leaving messages and waiting for return calls that may or may not happen.
Even though I have done the task, ie: made the phone call, I still can’t cross it off my list because making the call doesn’t count if the issue isn’t resolved.

This shit on the list isn’t going to get done if I don’t get my ass in gear and get busy.

Howdy y’all. Just checking in to say “Hi.” My feet may be getting better, now I’ve got pins and needles instead of numb.

Hope everyone has a better week than the last one.

Believe it or not, I remembered one more car, so we’re up to 29. Holy crap on a cracker!

I made my Aldi run. Decided to get a tray of chickie tits, not realizing I had about 8 in the freezer. We’ll be eating a lot of chicken in the coming weeks. I also got some ground chuck - gonna make sketty sauce this afternoon.

MetalMouse - like I can’t deal with curses! That’s pretty much my life these days. Dammit.

Does your DH’s decorating taste normally run to the redneck?

He once used my long handled garden loppers to spatchcock a turkey.

He had one in his bike barn, they move a lot of air around quite nicely. They just aren’t to my taste as far as bedroom decorations. He would probably want some Big Ass fans if he knew where to get them. If it is going to be done, it must be overdone.

I guess it is good that we choose to do this, the globe fell out of the fan in my room. Happily we were home and the cats were in a different room so I was able to close the door to keep them out while I dealt with the glass.

I really hope they are getting better because pins and needles drive me nutz.

We forgot that we have a window guy coming over at 1 today so we did stuff, but came home to talk to him. I’ve been spending my time looking at ceiling fans online and wow, there are some very interesting looking fans. Dalouguan Ceiling Fan with Lights Remote Control, 24" Black, 6 Speeds 3 Light Color Low Profile Flush Mount Ceiling Fan for Kitchen Bedroom - Amazon.com

And a late morning all (well, it might be afternoon when I finish). Moanday shopping is done and a Jersey Mike’s #3 is being assimilated in my stomach as I type, so it has been a successful morning. About an hour or so from now I’ll head to the gym, may do less swimming as I’ll be out with the soccer players for 90 minutes later this afternoon. Up to 82F now so glad I got the stuff done early.

Hope you’re feeling more energized, Taters. Happy puttering.

Sari, never tried Wendy’s breakfast, looked at the menu and nothing really appeals to me. Never had a Frosty to the best of my memory, Wendy’s is on my list for providing dinner tonight, might skip the fries and order one, just to say I have eaten one. And I find as I have grown older (and more and more comfortable with e-mail), that calling people on the phone has become something I like less and less.

{{VanGO}}, pin-and-needles are not fun. Keep doing better.

    Here for an example is the best curse I have ever heard, from John Lithgow in Buckaroo Banzai: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Picx7OOJSEI

JtC, whoa, that fan would make me dizzy (or sick) if I looked up. But yeah, just about any variety is out there. Glad the cat’s feet are OK.

And I beat the afternoon by 2 minutes. Take care all.

y’all have very different views of ceiling fans.

my main criteria for getting a lighting fixture is, easy access to the light bulb. if i have to deal with tiny screws or removing a breakable to get to the bulb, no matter awesome it looks, big no!

while assembling the new shelf unit thing, i was once again watching hallmark mysteries. i can not believe my streaming went out during the last 10 minutes! this is the second time my streaming went down during this episode. i still do not know who the killer was. this episode does not show up on the “on demand” page. very frustrating!

then yesterday i was watching again and the episode ended on a crazy cliff hanger, and there is no follow up episode. turns out hallmark decided to cancel the series. whhhhhaaaat??! i may have to start a hallmark boycott. pretty easy as there are no stores near me and i can ignore the channel very easily.

I’m still miffed that they discontinued the Kitten Bowl. Another channel picked it up, but I don’t have cable and am not sure any streaming service has Great American Family channel.

It’s a rainy slow(ish) day today. We dropped overlyboy off at college yesterday. I only cried after he walked away. And most of the way home. But fortunately, the drive home was just about an hour and a half. Overlygirl cried, too. It was a really emotional day and now it’s way too quiet around here. I’m so happy for him, though. I made the mistake of poking my head into his room. It looks like a tornado went through but I can’t bring myself to clean it yet.

Overlygirl starts a weeklong try out for high school volleyball today. I have my fingers and toes and hair crossed. I keep reminding her that there are a ton of benefits to being almost 5’10" when you’re in volleyball and, even if she does get cut, if she wants to play a sport there are tons to choose from. In other words, I am completely useless in this arena.

In other news, I’m off to beautiful Ohio tomorrow for a work trip. I’ve opted to drive the nearly 6 hours it will take to get there. It’s a choice between 7 or 8 hours of various flight combinations because there’s no good way by air or land to get from here to there, and if I drive, once the meeting ends I can leave immediately instead of waiting around 3 hours. And I get to listen to podcasts and ebooks the whole way instead of being expected to work in the airport during layovers. I may well regret it later, but so far it makes sense.

Well, I’m off to do…something. I took the day off because I knew I’d be down after dropping overlyboy, but I am also at loose ends now. Since I shouldn’t spend all day on my phone, I guess I’ll clean something.

JtC Ariel has a similar fan hanging on the bars of her stall. I believe you can order B.A. fans online. Just sayin.

I slept about 3 hours last night. Don’t know why the insomnia. Today me and Ursala Kitteh are just hanging around.
