Evening all. Got to the gym fairly early for my pedaling then home and ended up napping for an hour. Thinking about going back over to the gym tonight to do a little more pedaling (work off that cheeseburger I just consumed) or else taking a walk (need to keep breaking in my new tennis shoes). Or maybe just continue in my slothful ways.
VanGo, got to 86F today and is supposed to be 87F tomorrow, so I know what you’re talking about. First time this year I’ve left the air conditioning on for a substantial amount of time, usually I cool the house down and then let it slowly climb back up…probably not the best plan, but the house is well-insulated so it stays cool for awhile. Enjoy parents visit.
Nellie, better a bad hairdo than having virtually no hair at all (raises hand).
JtC, may your Diablo fiend enjoy the release.
quietly, I like your style in writing in the yearbooks. If they figure those out, you can always try Lord of the rings runes…
Real Fish, nice pic. And glad Dad-unit is doing as well as he is. And Mrs. DePalma was a top-drawer teacher.
doggio, dang it, now you’ve got me wanting to buy something at a dot.com…hmmm, need some new science-based t-shirts…
Feel better soon, Pilot
OK, the gym parking lot should be emptying out of the 5pm exercisers, so may get dressed and do some more sweating tonight. All y’all take care.
I just did a little computatin’ - if we choose the 3-day option, assuming 12 days a month and about 8 hours each day, it comes to right around $10/hr. Can you get a trustworthy babysitter for less than that? Plus they feed the kids and even with the littles, there’s structure and education. Looking at it that way, it’s really not a bad deal. Bonus if they can potty-train him!
My car has been randomly weird for some time. I could be on the highway, on a country road, or in traffic, and there will be a sudden, quick sound like it’s kicking into a lower gear. If I’m in cruise, it’ll disconnect it. I haven’t noticed anything to tie all the events together other than it’s my car and I’m driving. Flat road, going uphill, going downhill, fast, slow, there’s just no common factor apart from my butt in the driver’s seat. I talked to our mechanic about it a couple of weeks ago and he seemed to have an idea, so fingers crossed that it’s not obscenely expensive to fix. As long as it’s cheaper than a new car…
I have yet to encounter one that’s even close to real pizza.
We’re promised (threatened with?) 86° tomorrow. Perfect weather for waxing a boat, no? I need to take ice water with us. And we can’t work past about 2:30 since SIL is bringing the kids over around 3:30 and we’ll want to shower before they get here. I’m thinking I’ll feed them mac-n-cheese-n-peas for supper. And some fruit - they love berries. After they eat, I’ll toss 'em in the tub to play for a while, then pack 'em in their jammies till Daddy claims them after graduation. At least that’s the plan.
Not exactly the problem I had. Mine wouldn’t switch gears at all and required a new transmission which cost $8,000 for a rebuilt. I’m really hoping yours is a better situation all around.
I feel ya on the haircut nellie. My first post-pandemic haircut was technically a good cut, but not the one I asked for and waaaaaaaaay too short. I still go visit some of the nuns who taught me at the old nuns’ home when I’m going through Indianapolis. They know I’m a heathen, but still love me (it wouldn’t surprise me if they made a novena or two for my soul though ).
VanGo, my mom used to buy Xmas gifts throughout the year. Unfortunately, she didn’t always keep in mind changes that happen over the course of time (I once got miracle windshield wiper blades for a car that I hadn’t owned for six months. She thought that they just might work on the sub-compact that I replaced the Grand Marquis with).
Irked, came home, took the small beast to the dog park and even got a micro-nap while there (there was no one else on the small dog side for ~15 minutes).
Up from naptime. Having a Rolls Royce cocktail(basically a Perfect Martini with Benedictine), Italian chicken with orzo, and a salad.
And glad everybody like the song.
I offered these choices to the Spousal Unit for dinner: Regular-sized Hebrew National hot dogs, giant Kirkland hot doge, beef birria tacos or burritos, egg salad sandwiches, bologna sandwich (only enough for one), coleslaw, tacos, or take-out. She opted for regular-sized Hebrew National hot dogs. I split them and fried them in a pan. We both had coleslaw. She had BBQ potato chips, and I had Baken-Ets (pig skins/chicharrones).
That egg salad isn’t going to last forever. I think it’s just about time to make some SPAM® salad.
The game graphics are amazing, I get vertigo if my avatar gets too close to a cliff edge, just like InRealLife. The game play is very seamless with no lag. They did a very good job this time.
We both got the names we wanted for every class and someone has already messaged me asking to buy my Lovinia Whateley name. That is a very big NO! I’m not giving up Wilbur Whateley either, the only reason I bought the early access was to get the names I wanted and they are MINE! Bwahahahaha.
So, I killed monsters for a while and got bored and pulled out my Lovestruck project and found yet another mistake in the instructions. I fought with that for a while and then got it sorted and called Mom to tell her what I had found. We are both disappointed because this designer has done so much better in years past, and she is young enough that we were hoping she would be doing mystery projects until we both died.
I love those.
You are doing it the sensible way as long as you are buying for adults instead of kids who grow up so fast that the toy you bought today will not be age appropriate by Christmas.
Morning, mumpers! It’s a whopping 10c/50f with a predicted high of 17c/63f, and partly cloudy. Weather app says “This is the perfect day to stay inside, eat pizza, and with that it was fucking warmer.” Pilot sometimes the weather app’s missives are fairly bland and need a bit of doctoring
nellie sorry to hear about the haircut, I feel for you. I’ve had a few disastrous results from over-enthusiastic stylists in the past. Fortunately I have a fab lady who does my hair regularly, I’ve been going to her for years and refuse to let anyone else cut it. The salon used to be in the town centre, it’s moved twice in the last five years and I’ve gone with it.
Niner fingers crossed for the interview - you’ll be amazing!
Oopsie love the Lego!
moooom $10 per hour sounds reasonable for the daycare costs if the littles get looked after, fed and watered, and potty-trained. I have no idea what the reasonable rate for babysitters would be, but that does sound like a good deal when you average it out.
Foster kittehs are still in hiding under the bed. I peered under there yesterday evening and saw them both, one was close enough for a little bit of fussing, the other one too far away and I wasn’t about to move stuff from under there in order to reach her. She’ll come out when she wants to. It looks like they have had a nibble of food, and we moved the water bowl closer as we were both concerned about dehydration. The litter tray’s been well-used so it looks like moving the water was a success!
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 65 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 85 and partly N.O.S. for the day. This bein’ Firday, it is candle duty time. I shall take care of that and then we shall be bears who brunch at Newk’s. This will take care of the main need to feed for the day.
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.
Another night of not falling asleep till after 11, but I made it almost to 6, so there’s that. Critters have been tended to and as soon as FCD gets up and showers, I’ll clean my grubby self and dress for a day of wax on/wax off. I need to remember ice water. We have sunscreen on the boat.I don’t know where my hat is - I think I brought it home to wash it…
Anyway, you probably won’t see much of me, so try not to fret at my absence.
That’s a darn shame. OTOH, short in the back is much cooler in summer. And as between screwing up the front or the back of your head, I think you’re happier with a goof in the back. So a glass maybe 10% full at least? Please?
I had the male equivalent about 8 months ago when I went to a new barber shop after we moved. Cool trendy sorta “urban” / high style place with mostly young guys working there and as I’m sure you’re aware, buzzed sidewalls and longish pile on top are all the rage these days. Not for me. Makes me look either like Alfred E Neuman with the big ears or like Clint Eastwood in Gran Torino. Severe and sneery. That look has its uses at work, but not 24/7/365.
Anyhow, I usually get it cut monthly to keep the full top & front out of my face. Took 3 months of going to somebody else at the same shop leaving the sides totally untouched to grow them out enough to look right. The 4th month they needed a slight touchup. This other guy is now my go-to dude. His nickname there is “OG” as in “Old Guy”. He’s 40. Sigh.
My “adventures” …
Stayed up too late last night. Watched The Bourne Identity on library DVD w Her Ladyship and should have gone to bed right after, but ended up reading the internet another 90 minutes when I should have been sleeping.
Awoke 630ish feeling much better. Congestion much reduced. Today I should be normal for everything except irk; that’ll be tomorrow.
Balconating and caffinating now under warm still partly-cloudy skies.
Morning all. Another hot day in N. Ali-bama, heading up to 87F, but only 73F now A 31% chance of rain (who, I wonder, decides it’s not 30% or 32%?) later. Another day with nothing much on the agenda, will get swimming-n-sauna in, then see what else is on tap.
Sensei, hope the router heads right to you and not, say, to Okinawa…
Glad you’re feeling better, Pilot.
FCM, guess you don’t need a gym to work out given that regime. Take care of yourself and FCD.
JtC, glad the game went well. Hope the sewing gets back on track.
And it’s still not 8am yet. Will browse around my You Tube channels (several post on Firday only) and see what else I can do before First Meal. Take care all.
