I really enjoyed this oldflick-Rex Harrison as a the ghost of a dead sea captain! The story was well done…especially as how they managed to portray 25 years in a movie. Anyway, who played Mr.s Muir? And, does the house in England still exist? Al;so, there wasa short-lived TV show in the 1970’s with the same theme-who wasin it? :wally
Wasn’t Mrs. Muir played by Gene Tierney?
The TV series starred Edward Mulhare as The Captain, Hope Lange as Mrs. Muir, and Charles Nelson Reilly as the Captain’s descendant.
God I loved that show!
The “English” setting of the house was actually the Los Angeles coastal suburb of Palos Verdes, California, with other process shots done in Monterey, California.
Now I have the theme song in my head…
Honhhh, dah-dah-dun
DAH-dah dah-dah-dah-dah
DAH-dah dah-dah-dah-dah
Dah-DAH, dah-DAH…
I liked the part in the movie when the captain was dictating his memoirs to Mrs. Muir. At one part she refused to type a certain word, which was never actually spoken out loud. But he insisted she include it, saying it lent color and accuracy to the narrative. So with a disapproving frown she angrily typed out four letters. Much more satisfying than actually uttering whatever it was.
Heh heh heh…I bet it was “fuck.”
