Since I use plastic almost exclusively, nope. 
What I have noticed, tho, is that several places are doing away with self-checkout. First place I noticed it was Dollar General. Then the older Aldi blocked off half of them and added a security gate to the entrance. And the new Aldi didn’t even include any. So thievery has obviously affected the much-hated self-checkouts. Food Lion has them but there’s also an employee hovering around the registers (which is actually nice when you’ve got a question/problem. WalMart has completely changed their checkout area to mostly self serve, but they also have a rather large honesty patrol hovering about. But, no, I have’t noticed any penny issues.
Which is why I got 4 of 'em! That, and the unit price was appreciably less if you took their four-fer deal. Plus I have a big hunk o’garden that needs to be filled. These will do nicely!
I seem to recall reading that it costs 2¢ to produce a penny. Can’t attest to the veracity of whatever source it was.
What’s the alternative?
It did rain overnight and into this morning, but we might see sun this afternoon before rain returns. I’ll try to get the plants in during that break. Moanday night, they’re threatening a possible freeze - I should probably find some covers for the new plants then. Dammit.
FCD has said he’ll need my help for a bit as work on the swim platform continues. And I bought a sack o’Yukon gold spuds, so they’ll likely be souped for supper. That’s pretty much all I’ve planned. We shall see how it goes.
