(Old) Happy Earthday in the MMP!

JtC, it will certainly be easier to focus on moving knowing that your boobs are in good shape!

Meatloaves are made and in the freezer. I ordered a spare set of specs from Zenni - wonder if they’ll arrive before my original order from the eye doc? < cue Jeopardy theme >

Much heaving today, and I had to help in Irregs. Which is a nice change(somehow dealing with jugs of bull semen, and 120lbs mattresses less taxing than dumping overstuffed bags of poop cubes down a chute is). But Spot and I have had our dry flavorless bits, and now the rest slab awaits!

And this is the Fed job that is less stressful than your previous one.

i have the snacky mouse from temptations version. regular mouse and december mouse.

stretch was the one to figure it out, lager would wait for him to release the treat, then get to the treat before him.

now lager has to do all the work himself.

i also have one that is blue and looks like a flying saucer.

i hope your packing goes smoothly and easily.

i had my eye exam yest. will go frame shopping on saturday. will i get glasses before fcm? stay tuned.

happy admin day to our sdmb admins!

Happy Earthday, by Qkumba Zoo

[NB: There were two, 15-second, unskippable ads before the video started.]

I’m typing this in between throwing a hedgehog for Ms. Dog to chase. (Not a real hedgehog. We save those for croquet.) I have her until tomorrow evening. Her person kindly informed me that Ms. Dog might have diarrhea due to a sudden but unavoidable change in dog food. I’m trying to talk Ms. Dog out of it. Mind over movements!

OK, we switched to Hide and Find It. I shut her in the bathroom, hide her toy somewhere in the apartment, then let her out to find it. It keeps her occupied for a few minutes longer.

The Beatles’ “In My Life” is the soundtrack for that feeling, at least for me. {{{{JtC}}}}

:rofl:I was going to wash the bed linens today but thought of Spot and decided it can wait until Ms. Dog goes home.

Sticky, I forgot to say earlier how much I love the volcano idea.

It was cloudy here. Eclipse? It’s cloudy. Full moon? Cloudy. Second Coming? Cloudy all the way.

With inflation, I’m guessing you really did get only a couple of things. [Old Codger Alert] When I was a kid, I asked my mom how much she spent on groceries each week. She said, “About $50.” This was for a family of six. Then she sent me off to do sums on the back of a shovel. (I never understood that story. Was the shovel new and shiny? How else could Honest Abe see the numbers?)

I missed this somehow but am so glad all is well. Did nobody else see what you did there?

Once I offered students a choice of treats, Dum-Dums or Smartees. “Remember: you are what you eat!” Dum-Dums won by a landslide.

He says the same about you.

This should be the Washington State motto. Think of the fun license plates!

Soccer during a strike. I like the way you Brits do things.

Dog!

Fried egg sandwiches this morning, then exercise (for me). The wife was supposed to have a PT session today, but she’s got a case of the trotskys. She likes to order dinner delivered from the kitchen. I don’t. That’s what she had for dinner last night. On the rare occasion I also get dinner delivered, I nuke it until I’m sure that any bacteria is dead. She doesn’t do that, which to me is like playing Russian roulette with a fully loaded gun. At best, the food arrives here lukewarm.

As an experiment, I put wet cat food on one side of Q’itih’s plate and kibble on the other. It would appear that kibble is the winner, so we’ll go with that (for now, at least).

Youngest son (age 45) has a new squeeze. I think he uses a dating app. This one has two teens and a couple of medical problems, including “treatable” MS. I would really like to advise him not to get serious with this woman, as he really doesn’t need to take on someone with health issues, but I’m sure that would be met with a MYOFB response. Ah well, it’s his life.

No matter how old they are, they’re always your kids and you always want to step in - ask me how I know this…

Just finished setting up the sprinkler on the new veggie beds. I want the old dirt that I screened to settle before I bring in the new dirt. I also shook some plant food in there to boost the soil. Maybe tomorrow I’ll get the topsoil. I also mowed the back yard and put away all the tools I’d been using to do the raised beds. And I watered the future (?) clover patch. I’s tahred!

FCD took his mom to Food Lion. BIL is sick and has no food in his apartment and MIL can’t stop mothering (see above.) So instead of working on the boat like he wants to, he’s helping a brother who pretty much hates him. My sweetie is a saint.

OK, I’ve got some time to myself - gonna read.

Sausage, home-made pico de gallo, & cheddar frittata for me. I always scramble the eggs with a bit of heavy cream to make them fluffy. This morning I decided not to use cream. (The salsa had some liquid in it.) The frittata came out a little on the flat side. Note to self: Always use cream.

Jacque Pepin says to use just a touch of cream, an extra yolk and some cold butter mixed in with the eggs to help retard the heat. And of course keep them moving.

I’ve got my own stories on that. Two of my boys didn’t talk to me for several years after the divorce. I just waited for them to let life sort them out without my assistance. The eventually came around, especially after their own disastrous marriages. My eldest asked me “How come you didn’t say anything about how you saw her?” “And what would you have told me, son?” After a few seconds of thought, he sheepishly said “Mind your own fucking business, Dad?”

Butter and an extra yolk is too much trouble. I’m just making breakfast. Can’t keep them moving in a frittata.

My water is shut off. No idea why - I assume utility repair work? The bill is bundled in with my rent (some of you may recall that didn’t happen for a year & then they hit me with the whole thing at once, a while back) anyway, there’s no way it’s a non-payment problem.

Discovered this after getting up early in the morning for the reason you think, so THAT was a fun start to the day.

I’ll bring my toothbrush & toothpaste to work, I guess. At least I’m reasonably non-stinky, I hope, although I unfortunately cannot say the same for my bathroom.

Super bright and sunny, although it’s supposed to get near freezing tonight - clear nights are always colder.

The Oracles predict much rain over the weekend, though.

Off to find clean socks and undies. Cheers!

Afternoon all. Lawn has been mowed and the clippings (black sheep level–three bags full) are at the curb to ferment until Monday. Stopped at the bank and now have a little cash money in my pocket, as for swimming, the big bruise/scrape from Saturday had clotted over but I bumped it and it was bleeding a bit this morning, so I’m torn on swimming. Might go this evening, or do the Thorsday biking today, I’ve still got an hour or two to consider it. Absolutely gorgeous day, 73F and almost no cloud cover, hope it stays that way for awhile.

FCM, rocky, been one week since I ordered my glasses, so it’s a 3-way race for the specs. Hope we all get them sooner than we planned.

nellie, hoping Ms. Dog remains a charming house-guest and gets outside in time to do her business. And I remember Friday was always my Mom’s grocery shopping day, she would watch the newspaper ads and clip coupons and often we would go to 3 stores the same day so she could get the best prices. I’m not quite as fussy, but I do get my 2-liter Pepsi at Wal-Mart because it’s $1.98/ea compared to $2.50 and up at other stores. And might have to get some Smarties and Dum-Dums and replicate your experiment; but it’s not totally fair, Dum-Dums are way better.

Cookie,

As well he should. But your his father, part of the job description is that you never stop worrying about your kids.

shoe, hope the water comes back on soon, been there and it is no fun. One of the benefits of my gym membership is the showers they have there, don’t think I’ve had a bath at home in weeks since I always thoroughly shower and scrub nearly daily and wash the pitiful remnants of my hair 3-4 times a week, so win-win in my world.

OK, need to check the skin below the right knee and see if it won;t contaminate the pool. Have a good day all.

WHAT?!?! Did you start working for them when you were in Middle School? That’s how old I thought you are. Are you thinking of retiring any time soon?

wet one how exciting; have a great time with the horsies. Also seems like a nice vrbo.

metal mouse thanks for the acronym translations; I was wondering too.

Yeah, you have to be in full fuss mode for that one.

This is how Ms. Dog eats her kibble.
Step one: Sniff kibble disinterestedly. (This time it’ll work and I’ll get steak!)
Step two: Approach human, stare, and use ESP . (“Steak, lady, steak!”)
Step three: Return to bowl. Pick up one kibble. Trot to living room.
Step four: Eat single kibble.
Steps five through twenty: Repeat steps three and four.

When she’s done, we’re going for the Big Walk. So far no messes, just several Attacks of the Invisible Mole People, which she can only see by jumping on my bed and staring out the window. At least they haven’t breached the palisades.

cookie, I’ve never heard of “treatable MS.” I thought it was all treatable, to an extent, at least, just not curable? The hardest thing is to let your kids make their own mistakes. It sounds like you calmly do that, so kudos. Hope the Mrs. feels better.

Youch. I’ve always heard you’re not supposed to swim with an open wound, but then, I’ve never known anyone to get an infection.

JtC, I saw this cheese recipe on CNN this morning and wondered what you thought. It seems awfully quick for cheese. Have you ever made paneer?

That’s why it’s a good idea to keep a 1/2 gallon of water in your frig, or at least a quart.

As a former LGI and WSIT, I suggest the Thorsday biking.

Sit down, those of you south of the Mason Dixon line. I had sweet tea for the first time today. swampy faints. O M G, was it good.

The first time I had sweet tea was when this girl I met and I were driving from New Orleans to North Carolina to see friends. We stopped in Mississippi or Alabama (I don’t remember which) and ordered an iced tea. I took one big sip and gagged. Who the hell puts sugar in their iced tea? :face_vomiting:
