(Old) Happy Hanuholichristkwanzaavus- A Holiday(s) Week MMP

Feel free to adjust seasonings to your liking. That was an approximation by me as I never actually measured how much I was using.

I understand that the up will be particularly hard hit.

NWS has us colour-coded for a winter storm advisory, but the actual forecast is 90% chance of rain tonight (low 31F), 100% tomorrow (high 51), and 30% tomorrow night (low 24). No other precipitation for the rest of the week. Not very exciting, but I think we’ve had more snow this month than we did last December.

It’s been cloudy, rainy, and dark most of the day. It’s 4:30 pm, and I turned on the sunlight helper half an hour ago. I need a shower, but I don’t feel like doing anything useful.

I’ve stalled here long enough, I guess I’ll do dome stationary bike time and take a dang shower. Foo.

Those sound like very reasonable approximations! Too many people think some salt, a teaspoon of black pepper and one clove of garlic are sufficient for a pot of soup or chili…

Yeah, I have a relative locally who seems to equate Scoville units to flavor. He’s a good cook, but his seasoning is way off, IMO.

Day is winding down and the kids are doing bath (Tobias) and shower (Roxy) and dare I hope for early sleepy time…?

Tobias helped me make supper, then he and his sister set the table. They are trainable!! Once they’re in jammies, they get cookies. Then wind-down time. And that should end day 1. Four more to go.

Howdy Y’all! The service went well. I didn’t trip over anything and said all the stuff the right way so I call it a win. We went to the seafood place and got there before the crowds. I thought I wanted fried shrimpies, but when I looked at the menu, I got a gnawin’ and a cravin’ for the fried catfish filets. OYKW got the shrimpies and we shared as is our wont, so we got some of each. Both of us ordered fries, coleslaw and cheese grits as sides. After all that, neither of us had wanted anything else to eat today. YUM!

scud I am disorganized and unprepared, but am currently sober sans duck aigs. I have never eaten a duck aig. I feel deprived.

doggio Episcopal priests do their dangest not to irk on the Sunday after Christmas Day. It’s a sacred tradition! Plus Baby Priest has to cut his planned vacation this week a couple of days short since the Bishop will be with us next Sunday.

Sticky_Buns here’s hopin’ you don’t come down with the plague.

BooFae maybe Miffin will play with the dangly thing and then bite you. That would be like a perfect day for her.

Taters the doggos figured out a perfect day. What could be better than breakfast then a snooze with their bestest boy!

MetalMouse we’re lookin’ at some dramatic temp drops here on Tuesday.

MOOOOOOM walkie talkies and a karaoke machine!

Nuts YIKES! Glad they didn’t get anything too valuable, but still, sorry someone bothered your vehicle.

I cleaned, dusted, and vacuumed. I took out the trash and recycling, and filled the vermin feeder. I watched the Panthers blow a chance to win the division. Having a Wisconsin Old Fashioned, meatloaf, and mashed potatoes.

Sounds like my kind of beer(the rest of the menu looks good, too).

Bummer(had it happen once, they stole old prescription sunglasses. With my eyes, God help 'em).

Yay!

Boo. Had that happen.

Indeed.

If you make it, let me know what you think. I’m a big fan of black beans.

And the winner of Best Named Hockey Arena goes to The Mullett Ice Center

As am I. I’ll have to try your recipe

At church today, one of the pastors had some props on the stage, and asked for kids to help him with his message. The first lesson was how God/Jesus gives us power when we need it. He asked a little girl, about ten years old, I guess, to pick up a 50-pound dumbbell. She reached down and was actually picking it up when the pastor told her to put it down. He started laughing, telling her she ruined the demonstration. The dumbbell was supposed to be too heavy for her to pick up, and he would represent God/Jesus helping her, by helping her pick it up. So that’s what happened after he explained how it was supposed to go, and everybody laughed.

I made prime rib for Christmas dinner. As is my practice, I cut the (two) ribs from the rest of the roast, seasoned everything, then tied it back together. This morning I set the oven to 225ºF and put the ribs, wrapped in their foil into a cast-iron frying pan where they sat in the oven for about six hours. I looked in the fridge and found an open bottle of G. Hughes Sugar Free BBQ Sauce, and put it on the ribs for the last hour. We had baked orange sweet potato, and creamed spinach (spinach, cream cheese, feta, heavy cream, kosher salt). I had half of a one-inch slice of the sweet potato. I could have finished off the rest of the spinach. Would have, only my wife put it back into the fridge.

I thought of you today when my TJ’s didn’t have any bacon-wrapped scallops.

Did they have scallops? Did they have bacon?

I need more practice cooking scallops. But they’ll be off-budget for a while.

Evening all. Ate dinner out and spent 3 hours at the gym, so guess I am doing better even if I have to carry extra tissues for the runny nose. Temperature is still in the 60’sF but due to start downward tonight and keep going that way (sounds like a lot of us are expecting that type of weather). We’ll see what tomorrow is like.

FCM, I suspect 2026 will see a lot of repercussions from things done in 2025, hope the family can work it out. And also hope sister gets feeling better soon, the flu shot is mandatory for me each year. So far, so good… And as for the gift, it’s the thought that counts, right??

Nut, sorry to hear you were car-robbed last night, I’m so glad I can put mine in the garage every evening, even if I have very little worth stealing in there. At least you made an official report. Been thinking about getting a camera doorbell/security camera, but haven’t pushed myself to do it yet.

VanGo, hope you can light your fire soon.

Cookie, be safe, even if you’re a great snow driver, a lot of others…aren’t.

52, what kind of dogs were they? I had an 80lb bloodhound on my lap for nearly two days (unless the 50lb bassets got there first) so I can sympathize.

Not only that, The Howard G. Mullett Ice Center…

Flyboy, kids can fool ya, at least the pastor had a good fallback position.

And it’s getting on to 9pm, think I’ll check out the tackleball for a bit so take care and I’ll catch up with all y’all on Moandays new MMP.

And here is an even better idea. Thank you. I didn’t think about the therapeutic art thing, and guess I just thought that nobody else would want to deal with it either. I do monthly period supplies donations (it shouldn’t cost that much) and will ask the director what he thinks when next I visit.

That’s just how I am enjoying my retirement and I love it!

Boil most of the duck eggs, that will make them keep longer.

You do have a large fan base though!

It was for the pain

Happily he will take the full course of antibiotics without threats of bodily harm or new expensive kittens. He’s much better today, the pain is almost gone except if he steps wrong. He’s keeping my cane in his room though which is concerning.

I don’t like that cane and haven’t used it for years. The foam handle is hard and scratchy, there is no reason that anyone would want to use it if they had time to buy a new one.

Also wondering about that. If I’ve missed it, I’m sorry.

It was 70F today. We might as well move back to the desert if these are the sort of winters we are going to get.

I’m with you about Grisham, I either love it or hate it by the end of the first chapter.

That really bites. I’m glad they didn’t make off with anything important and impressed that the local cops were responsive.

That really bites. I hope the new part works properly and doesn’t make you say bad words during the fix. Maybe just cut your thumb on a piece of plastic before starting, the DIY gods always seem to demand a blood sacrifice around here.

And I just looked at the clock and am starting to get twitchy again.

I have enough time to finish my big project this year (14 inches left, I can stitch about a square inch an hour but I can’t just sit and stitch, I have to move and stretch and read the dope) if I concentrate but it’s not looking hopeful

I’m having problems switching from 18g to 24g since my cataract surgery, my eyes don’t seem to refocus as well as they did when I was younger. So now, I’ll just have to pick one gauge to stitch for the year and I’m looking forward to doing shiny stuff next year.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. it’s currently 57 degrees Ferret Height(13.89 Centipedes)

< takes a bow >

Once you’ve actually left the company, send them your hourly consultancy rates!

All of our cabs (those that aren’t Uber or private hires) are licensed and should run the journey’s fare on a meter. Usually someone offering a fixed fare is unlicensed (and therefore not a legal cabbie), potentially uninsured, or doing it as a cash-in-hand job.

She’s bitten me already this morning so she’s halfway to achieving her goals!

Nut I’m sorry to hear about the car, sometimes they’re just opportunist thieves who think there might be something of value in there. One of my previous cars was broken into on campus once, the security people said to check the engine as they’re often raided for parts.

They have a good selection, ranging from the lower ABV end to some of the more serious ones. The Black Country Ales are pretty regular ones and the rest are a rotation so you never know what might be on until you get there.

(Computer decided on its own to post that – I didn’t tell it to.)
